DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 83
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 56

Happy September TGIF! Today folks we move along and see that we have 83 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 56 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be the Final Fifty till November which will be in less than 1 week from now. We move along in the first week of our Awesome Autumn with our Fun Fact Friday below!

Here's a look at the top nine pie types Americans are eating this Thanksgiving:

  1. Apple - 20%
  2. Strawberry - 19%
  3. Pumpkin - 16%
  4. Cherry - 13%
  5. Blueberry - 9%
  6. Pecan - 8%
  7. Lemon Meringue - 8%
  8. Chocolate - 5%
  9. Chess - 2%
I’m thinking #9 should say “cheese” but I didn’t want to edit it in case someone has ever heard of a chess pie . Apple for me is by far #1. I would put #2 as cherry and #3 as blueberry. They all fall in the top 5 on the list above. Turkey friends gobble gobble to you this Friday. Have a great September TGIF!

I've never heard of a Chess pie but it's a real thing!

It actually sounds pretty good! Happy Friday!

Never heard of chess pie before.

Oooooo, are we ranking pies today? That's a fun game. I wanna play.
  1. Key Lime
  2. Pumpkin
  3. Blueberry
  4. Peanut Butter
  5. Chocolate
  6. Pecan
  7. Lemon Meringue
  8. Blackberry
  9. Apple
  10. Boston Creme
  11. Buttermilk/Chess
Yep, down here in the South, "Chess" pie is just commonly called buttermilk pie, and it's not as bad as you'd think, but it's not one of my personal favorites. My wife's grandma makes it all the time.

Also, we've never heard of strawberry pie down here. Like...ever. Even our grocery stores are simply devoid of it. Replace it with the more readily available blackberry pie and now we're in business.

Out of the pies that I make (all from scratch), I would rank my favorites:

Cashew Butter pie
Deep dish apple pie
Peach pie
coconut cream pie

An honorable mention for other pies is Lord of the Pies Deep Dish Apple which you can order online and Kermit's key lime pie also available online.

And speaking of key lime, real key limes, they're yellow. We have an ice cream store that makes ice cream from scratch. They put whole pies in their ice cream. When you eat it, you get pieces of key lime pie or peanut butter pie in each bite. I only visit it if I have company from out-of-town, but it's always a big hit. I'm not a coffee drinker but coffee is my favorite flavor of ice cream. I'll tell you, I was mighty hyper when I had only one scoop of their ice cream. They must put a lot of coffee beans in it.

One of my spring specialties and my family's favorite is strawberry pie!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 82
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 55

Happy Week Into September! Today folks we move along and see that we have 82 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 55 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone will be on Thursday when we reach the Final Fifty till November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn (first week of it) with our Quiet Weekend Period Part 1 of 2 beginning. It’s been a crazy week at work, and I always joke that when we have a 4-day week it seems so long but what does that say for a 5-day week? Well friends we made it to the weekend so are you ready to enjoy a great and fun Bers Weekend? Our first official full weekend of The Bers. What is better than that? I love weekends in general, but Bers Weekends feel extra special. Even Bers Tuesdays feel extra special, don’t they? Turkey friends I hope you are doing well on this weekend in The Bers and ready to have a good one. Maybe you’ll be having apple pie soon as autumn approaches. Soon I’ll be thinking about apple picking and such but for now I’m content being in the early stages of November still with those things still a little further down the road. Now for all of you gobblers out there I wish you well this Saturday and hope you enjoy your weekend. Have a great Week Into September!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 81
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 54

Happy September Sunday! Today folks we have 81 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 54 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Thursday when we reach our Final Fifty till November. We move along in the early stages of our Awesome Autumn and boy is it awesome isn’t it? And we are into Quiet Weekend Period Part 2. A quiet one but a busy one for me as I’m heading to the city for a museum and dinner today. But it should be fun as it always is. And the weather should cooperate after some rain we had on Saturday. But it’s been a good weekend so far and I hope all of you are enjoying it as well. So I’ve mentioned this before but I always think of the 10 weeks from after Labor Day Week till before Thanksgiving Week as the hardcore part of Autumn (and maybe my favorite time of year to be honest). But this year we get 11 so I’m calling this upcoming week Bonus Week. And we’ll reference that here as well in the Hang Out of course by simply talking about Autumn Topics and what’s “coming soon.” Our Christmas Season might seem a little shorter (at least the one from Thanksgiving to Christmas) but our Autumn will be longer. And really we don’t ever shorten Christmas because of this site we really celebrate it all year long. Turkey friends have a great day today and good luck to your football team. Have a great September Sunday!

Seeing that we will soon be 50 days to November seems unreal. But the weather here is changing in a way that makes me realize that Autumn is truly upon us and it's colder cousin is not far behind. I must haul / stock wood pellets like a fiend! Have a great Sunday!

I am enjoying the Quiet Weekend and the cool weather while they last! Thanksgiving feels are all around.
