Thanksgiving 2025 Thread

I post this picture from time to time, this is my hometown, this is "Virginia Farm Market", that's about a 10 minute drive from me. I love to go out here in the late Summer when they are starting to gear up from Fall, and eat some apple cider donuts and get samples of Cherry Cider. Most of the time I end up coming up with a jug or two when it is "in season". Soon, folks!

There is just something special about Thanksgiving Night. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the closest word to describe it would be... Comfort? I guess? Just the thought that the Christmas season has finally arrived, the holiday celebrations have begun, and the joy of the past Thanksgiving week with the joy of what is to come.

Contentment ..... House full of family and friends .. our kids and their cousins are sitting at the dining room playing board games. The adults are watching football. Everyone is happy, full and having a great time.

Happy April Mid-Week! Today folks we move along and see that we have 239 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 213 days to go until November and 152 days left until The Bers. We move along in our Stress-Free Spring with our next milestone arriving the day after tomorrow. That will be on Friday when we reach the 150-Day Marker till The Bers. It’s Wednesday folks so time for our Weekly Wednesday Poll listed below for your viewing and participation!

What do you plan to make for Easter this year?​

• Christmas and Easter are almost always lasagna so I’m going with C. We do have a ham and a turkey in the freezer though. But those will be saved for other times this spring. Looking forward to that turkey of course more than anything. Turkey friends the best to you today. Have a great April Mid-Week!​

I am in, it's about a 3 hr drive for me!

Not sure what we are doing for Easter yet. It will either be a spiral ham or steaks on the grill. Homemade macaroni salad, deviled eggs and a veggie or 2.

Easter is typically ham season for us, but... I do need to practice my smoked turkey for Thanksgiving this year. Hmm, decisions, decisions...

There should be an option for "undecided."

If you cut the turkey in half it will smoke in a lot less time than a whole turkey and you can season both sides easily

Happy Early April! Today folks we move along and see that we have 238 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 212 days left until November and 151 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Stress-Free Spring with our next milestone scheduled to arrive tomorrow (on Friday). It will be the 150-Day Marker till The Bers. Pretty awesome huh? It’s Thursday folks so time for our Thanksgiving Thought Thursday below!

These early April days are the final days where we can feel like Thanksgiving. There is still enough chill in the air normally in the 1st half of April here, that you can almost feel Thanksgiving weather. But it doesn’t usually last much longer than that when the “cooler” days feel more like October and the warmer days start feeling more like September. Hold on to those last days of feeling like Thanksgiving until November comes again!

This time of year, a cooler weather pattern (which we have been in and out of lately) is not such a bad thing. When you’re below normal in January it’s terrible. When you’re below normal in April it’s like no big deal, just put on a jacket in the mornings at least. Have a great Early April!​
