Thanksgiving 2025 Thread

I think the honest answer is "B". And in a way that's not fair to November because Thanksgiving is a great holiday and a great month overall. But there's just a special pull about October and Halloween Season. I honestly feel a lot of the same vibes as Christmas season.

I'm missing Halloween right now, but I'm trying not to think about it too much, and honestly that's easy to do because so much is happening now as we are getting ready for Christmas and so many conversations are turning to Thanksgiving day, menu items, and such. It's an exciting time. And it's one that I don't want to wish away. Come January I'll be wishing to speed up time. But not now!

Weather getting colder. No doubt. Walking the dogs during the winter is a chore!
 
I have to go with A. Today hit 77 and it'll stay warm for a few more days, but next week a cold front is coming through. I really don't mind cooler weather but I miss swimming in the heated outdoor pool. Some people swim all Winter but I get too cold if the air is below 75.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 21

Happy Nice November! Today folks we move along and see that we have 21 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone arriving in 11 days. It will be the Home Stretch till Thanksgiving. That’s quite a day that is coming up on our calendar sooner rather than later. It’s Thursday folks so time for Thanksgiving Thought Thursday below.

Do you hear that? No? That’s because we’re in a rare “quiet” part of The Bers. For the next 2 weeks or so we will continue in this “quiet” part. Halloween celebrations are over. Thanksgiving is still 3 weeks away and the holiday season is still fully in front of us. Enjoy the quiet. Soon that will end.

Of course, I want the holiday season to come eventually but I am in no rush to get there. I really enjoy the quiet time of year that we encounter around now. It’s a special time when you really learn to enjoy the little things before all the big things inevitably start up soon. Turkey friends I hope your week is going well and that you are enjoying your week as much as you can. I wish all the best to you my turkey friends. I am enjoying my week and trying to enjoy this time of year very much before things ramp up. Have a great Nice November!​
 
It hit 74 today with sunny skies. I went to Costco to get supplies for my homeless baskets. I decided to use plastic bags from Publix as they have "handles." I'll need to double bag them.

From now until after Thanksgiving, I'll be super busy. My niece called me as I was on my way to Costco. She said her best friend suffered from an orthostatic hypotension incident, fainted, and broke her neck ((c-1 and c-2.). Fortunately the break did not injure her spinal cord, so she is not paralyzed. She hit her head on the way down requiring 18 stitches. After hearing about that incident, my niece said her place in Madeira Beach was nearly complete so she would be coming to the East coast around the 18th or 19th, depending on when her new furniture arrives. Nothing is finalized as far as my meals except knowing that they will be here for Thanksgiving.

I think that I would not have guessed that one. But of course, I have heard of Felix the Cat. I always remember the Simpsons episode from like the 1st or 2nd season where Bart sees the Thanksgiving Parade in the background and says you can’t have any flash in the pan showing up at the parade and you see Bart on a balloon in the background on tv at the parade. I think Homer said it and Bart was standing there. Pretty funny and comical moments. But you made it if you get to be at the Thanksgiving Parade. It means you are doing something right. Right? With Popeye's reopening in our area just in time for Thanksgiving, I am considering picking up another one of their Cajun turkeys this year and saving it for our "Bers' End Feast" on New Year's Eve. Since we are traveling for Thanksgiving this year, I won't get to smoke a turkey like I'd planned, but maybe during Halfsgiving/Spring Thanksgiving next year it'll be a perfect time to smoke one.
 
DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 19

Happy November Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 19 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone arriving 1 week from the day after tomorrow. It will be the Home Stretch till Thanksgiving. It’s going to be a fun one folks and the final milestone we have. It’s Saturday my friends so time for our 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I have to say this because this might be my final laid-back quiet weekend I have until…Christmas? I hope not. But it looks like the way we are loading up Sundays with trips more than local activities, it seems we will be busy. This weekend I’m mostly staying local, doing a few errands, getting things done around home base and seeing the Halloween Lights for a 2nd time. Yes, they are still up. We never went a 2nd time before. They start it early and end it late and that’s great because it’s a lot of work to do. Turkey friends I hope your week went ok or even better than that and that you are ready to now enjoy your weekend. The best to you my turkey friends as we move along on this November weekend. Happy November Sunday! Today folks we move along and see that we have 18 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone arriving in 8 days. It will be the Home Stretch till Thanksgiving and is the final milestone of the thread. It’s Sunday folks so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I hope your weekend has been quiet. Mine has but I don’t see too many quiet weekends ahead except of course Thanksgiving Weekend because it will be so long. I leave work early afternoon on Thanksgiving Eve and I’m home till Monday like many are. And I’ll have a couple of things to do but a good amount of time will be spent home and I’m happy about that. Of course, I’ll start my Christmas shopping then but half of that is online anyway (more than half to be honest). Turkey friends I know you are all starting to get excited about what is to come. I hope that it will be a fun weekend here this Sunday and you enjoy the second half of it. The first half was good, and I got a lot done around home base which I really needed to do this weekend.
