Now why didn’t I think of this?
Sugar Cookie Milk!

You know what, it almost sounds like it could substitute for a coffee creamer as well to. Next time I head on over to Target, I going to see if they have it, because now I am curious.

Hey, speaking of things like that, the next time I head on down to MD., I'm going to stop at a High's store and pick me up some of their eggnog! To me, it's the best (un-spiked) eggnog that I have ever had in my life to date.

Hello MerryCarey. In the few days/week leading up to Halloween, some stores have aisles filled with Halloween stock. Many people take part in Halloween parties, meals etc. I think it’s more an excuse to indulge themselves rather than a celebration in remembering the dead. As I say, it all seems very commercial and forced on us. But if people want to take part then let them carry on.

As for ‘Guy Fawkes Night’, that is an English commemoration that is based in the historical fact that on 5th November 1605, Guy Fawkes was arrested whilst watching over explosives (barrels of gunpowder) placed by the group of plotters beneath the House of Lords (Parliament). The idea of the plotters was to blow up the House of Lords thereby assassinating King James I and many other prominent people.

Immortalized in this nursery rhyme:-

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!

Guy Fawkes, guy, t'was his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.

By god's mercy he was catch'd
With a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the bells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.

And what shall we do with him?
Burn him!

Yes, some children do still make a ‘Guy’ from old clothes and ‘demand’ a penny for the ‘Guy’. The proceeds will go toward purchasing fireworks. The ‘Guy’ will get burned on the bonfire!

Thank you for sharing this with us. I found this to be quite interesting and got a little World History lesson as well.

Good heavens ... hadn't through of High's in years. Used to go there for ice cream.

I snapped a couple quick shots at lunch. I need to get the liquor bottle and the beer can off of the porch LOL.

Happy Halloween, Christmas friends!

As predicted, Nancy was not amused when she realized that our stealth carver left an empty liquor bottle as part of the scene of the vomiting pumpkin. Why couldn't they leave a full bottle? LOL!! Just kidding! She would kill me just for joking about that! We saw one of the local preachers last night, and he mentioned that someone pointed out our house to him yesterday. Nancy flipped out, thinking he might've seen the bottle on the front step. I assured her that you couldn't tell what it was from the road. Whew, dodged THAT bullet!

Elizabeth's play was a great, sold-out success! All of the kids gave a great performance, especially Elizabeth. ;) The dinner was super, too. They have regional competition on Friday, then an encore Dessert Theater performance at school again next Thursday. Here she is on the porch that required all of my carpentry talents:

I hope y'all have a spooky day! :D

LOL!!!! Why am I not surprised about that one.

A warm mug of apple cider and a couple apple donuts while watching The Christmas Card on Hallmark. Sunday mornings don’t get much better than this.
I watched The Christmas Card too!! ♥ (Actually the 1st hour I was flipping back & forth between Hallmark & HMM...but I couldn't miss The Christmas Card!)

View attachment 51290 Good Sunday afternoon! We had melting snow when I left work yesterday, no accumulation, and today it has turned to non-stop rain. I made some Halloween cupcakes with a Lindt chocolate spider to raise money for the social fund at work. I love Lindt chocolates, it took a lot of willpower not to eat it all before the cupcakes were done.

I’m at work, hoping the day goes fast. I was training two new hires this morning and both are Christmas fanatics. Both are done with their Christmas shopping and one of them even put up her tree yesterday! I have to admit that I’m getting more and more excited each day.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
Those look great!! Good work!

I worked all this morning and stopped at urgent care on the way home. I felt like I was getting an ear infection or a sinus infection. They say it's only a viral sinus infection and I only need nasal spray. If I am not feeling better by the start of next week I am going to go back because I will be really upset of o do end up having an ear infection. Hope everyone has a great rest of the day
Hope you are feeling better!

Beautiful! Glad to hear things went so well, but I never doubted it for a minute!

Good morning MMC!! Merry Pines Day/Happy Halloween/Can't believe tomorrow is NOVEMBER!! It's a super dreary ol day here! It's 60º but doesn't seem like it - especially from the inside looking out - it looks cold!!! LOL!!
Not much going on today besides working at both places & my brother/sil/dog made it in yesterday so I'm sure we will be hanging at moms to visit after work! We got together last night - many of my nieces/nephews were able to make it, which was nice. The great grandkids were having a ball/so cute & funny! The original plan was to order pizza but my sister made tortilla chicken soup, my SIL made a big salad, we had rotisserie chicken, KFC rolls & chicken...plus lots of snacks. It was a feast! Mom seemed to be having a better night. It was nice to see her sitting in her chair & not laying in that bed!!!
Everyone, have a GREAT day!! I hope to catch up a little around here this morning!! xx

Glad to hear the family made it in and that you guys are enjoying yourselves! So glad to hear your mom had a good night as well!

Did you ever try their egg nog?
No ... at that age, I didn't want anything to do with eggnog. Only with the wisdom of maturity have I developed a liking for eggnog. Up here, Hood Golden Eggnog is about the best. But the fat, calories, and sugar ... !!! I have a quart in my fridge, but haven't had the courage to open it yet.

Good afternoon .... Thankfully I am feeling better. Was able to get more cleaning and purging done last night and helped my DS make a batch of cookies :) I was hoping to be able to get out this past weekend to get some Christmas shopping done but that didn't happen so hopefully I can get some done this weekend. I caught a few of the Christmas movies on the hallmark channel over the weekend too :) Makes me want to put up my tree now LOL.
Glad to hear you are feeling better!!! xx
Snowflake just got a Balsam Hill tree & set it up. It's beautiful!! :) Makes me want to put up my tree too!!!
Hope you are having a good day!

Happy Tuesday!! One day before Halloween! Tonight I am taking my daughter and her 2 friends to a Haunted House. They have been dying to go to it. Typical work day for me. I am making baked mac and cheese for dinner.
Hope you all had a great time!!!

Nothing more fun than decorating for Christmas. That Cooper is just the cutest thing lying there next to the tree! Those big floppy ears always get me.
I agree - stole my heart. He greats you at the door every time you walk in. ♥

I'm very sorry to hear that your mom isn't in top form right now. Sending positive thoughts and strength her way.

Sorry to hear of your Moms struggles. Prayers for her and the family.

I'm glad to hear that you had a good weekend!!! Lots of prayers for mom. I hope she starts getting some strength back.

I hope your brother and SIL have a safe flight in!!!

Have a great day, Holiday!! Will keep your Mom in my prayers.
I have been loving Hallmark too.

How cute!!

Thank you all!! xx ♥

Sending positive thoughts and prayers for your mom and the whole family. I understand how hard it is to see them so weak; I feel the exact same way about my father.
(((Hugs))) Continued prayers for you & your family too!

I was just looking at the Christmas TV schedule and remembered that FreeForm’s specials start on Thursday. So exciting! I’m going to try to start cleaning the house tomorrow, so I can get ready to decorate this weekend.
That's an exciting thought!!
