Happy Milestone Day!
50 Days until October

october_01.gif

Not seeing any outside fall or Halloween by me, but I know it won't be long. Right now it is in the mid-80s, but when I went outside first thing this morning, I could definitely feel a bit of a chill. My pumpkin plants are taking over the garden, but so far only two actual pumpkins but they are bigger now than at harvest time last year. Of course, it helped that I planted jack-o-lantern ones not sugar.

No signs of outdoor fall or Halloween decorations by me either. My order from Big Lots arrived but the ceramic pumpkins were both broken. I only have one pumpkin, but I keep telling myself it is a very sincere pumpkin and not to be disappointed!

And the milestones continue and only 50 days until October. It is all moving so fast. Its about to get real in here with the Bers a little over two weeks away! After that spooky season will not be far behind.
It's a good discussion for probably a little closer to September, but September 1st is meteorologically the beginning of fall. I believe last year, we chose to recognize the start of official "Spooky Season" on the Friday before the official start of Fall on the calendar. Edge can correct me on that in case I'm wrong. With that being said, I believe the start of official "Spooky Season" would begin on Friday, September 16th, a little more than one month away!

I'm on board with this. I need a little time anyway to properly get into the spooky spirit. The beginning of September usually has a very "death of summer" vibe for me, so 16 days in should be enough time to prepare.

One sincere pumpkin is all you need. Just ask Linus. Besides, and it might be an old wives' tale, but I have heard fewer fruits mean bigger fruits.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Saturday to you! Man.... does it ever FEEL like The Bers out there. It's 55 degrees outside, heading to a high of 75. Last night while we were on our walk, my wife said she was cold, I said it felt amazing! Tonight we are going to enjoy a fire out by the fire ring. It will feel positively Fall like. I've still enjoyed having fires the past two months, but we've kind of "suffered" with how hot it is outside, plus the heat of the fire. Tonight isn't going to be the case. I can't wait.

The other big news today, well, It's my wife's baby shower today at lunch time, but other than that, I am beginning the process of decorating the house and grounds for Fall. We almost have the "all year Fall" living room done, just a few more items are needed and I'm looking forward to sharing the pictures on here.

Not sure what movie I will get into tonight, but my list of Halloween movies is slowly growing! I think I can share on here soon. I hope in the next few days to make the final polishing on it, and have enough movies to carry me through the rest of this month and September, before SyFy/ AMC starts up with their 30 days of Halloween!

Have a great day, friends! Enjoy the cool weather if you have it where you live!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's Sunday! Day two for me of decorating the house and putting some things outside! Putting out Fall decorations has almost the same sort of vibe as decorating for Christmas.

Our weather is cooperating and everything is sort of coming together to make a "perfect storm" for it to start looking AND feeling like October around here. The "final" installment of Dark Arts Sunday is in exactly two weeks. I expect HP to play plentifully on "regular" TV next month, and obviously in October during SyFy's "Dark Arts Sunday", provided that they continue with the tradition this year.

Have a great Sunday, folks! I hope you're enjoying cool weather where you are!

WEEKS TO OCTOBER: 6
WEEKS TO HALLOWEEN: 10

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's another Monday, and a new week to think about Halloween, and hopefully organize and prepare our Halloween movies and shows. I had an outstanding weekend with the first two days of Fall decorating going well and putting me in a Halloween-ish mood. I'm excited to finish up this week and just kind of sit back and take it all in, and enjoy it. I'm also hoping to have my Halloween movie play-list all finished up by this weekend. This is also the last time on a Monday we will come in here and see the "Weeks to Halloween" count be in double digits.

Yesterday in the Thanksgiving thread, we were discussing the negative aspect of Christmas Day evening, and how for some of us, that's the worst day of the year. It for sure is my worst day of the year. It made me think of today's Monday topic, and I think now, well ahead of "Spooky/Halloween Season", and something that we don't have to worry about for quite a while:

When does Halloween / Halloween season mentally end for you, and do you go through any kind of "doldrums" or Seasonal blues?

Halloween season for me obviously physically ends when the Christmas lights go up outside and the Halloween lights / decorations are put away. But mentally, Halloween sort of "Hangs on" for a few more days following the conclusion of Halloween night. Last year, there was still a Halloween/Michael Myers marathon going on for the first half of November 1st! Needless to say it was an odd combination of having "still" happy feelings for Halloween, against the backdrop of Christmas decorations going up everywhere. But I think those remaining "feels" are pretty much gone by that first weekend of November. I'm fortunate that I don't really get any "doldrums" of Halloween season, mainly because of the outstanding "bonus months" of November and 3/4ths of December, before the Feels / yearning come roaring back in January when I can finally see spooky events and milestones coming back to the calendar.

Have a great day, friends! We're halfway through August now, and almost in "the home stretch". Think of Pumpkins and Ghosts!

The Halloween season ends for me when I'm heading to bed on Halloween night. That's when I start thinking of the next day. And on November 1st, I'm 100% in Christmas mode. I can't get the Thanksgiving decorations out fast enough.

This right here. For me, Halloween season doesn't so much end as it does "transition" into the next season. I don't really get any blues or doldrums when Halloween ends since it is part of the whole Christmas season, although I guess in all fairness it is a bit sad when the Halloween decorations in the neighborhood come down. Mainly though, I am too hyped for Thanksgiving and Christmas to mourn Halloween for very long.
