Thanksgiving 2024 Thread

DAYS TILL THE BERS: 14

Happy All August! Today folks we move along into a Sunday and see that our counts look as follows: 102 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 75 days to go until November, and 14 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be the day after tomorrow. That will be on Tuesday when we reach the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. Talk about exciting huh? It’s going to be a lot of fun friends but as we move along in our Summer Sweatfest with 2 weeks to go of it still we’re realizing we are in Quiet Weekend Period Part 2. That’s right it’s Sunday so I hope you have fun with family/friends if possible today. And that you have a good relaxing day if you are able to as well. Turkey friends I hope you are all doing well and staying positive on this Sunday. I think you have to really enjoy the summer now even if you aren’t a fan of it because eventually we won’t be turning back to it. So you might as well make the most of it. Once we reach The Bers there is no turning back. Turkey friends I hope all is well in your part of the world and that you are taking that gobble gobble positive attitude into your Sunday. And I hope you are all just happy to be here in this thread during our quiet weekend we have here. Enjoy. Have a great All August!​
 
I'm dreaming of a fat turkey and a smaller belly. Not sure how that's going to work. LOL.
 
All this turkey talk and I thawed out a turkey breast and cooked it today. I already had shrimp planned.....so I ate both.

I get my turkeys from a pasture-raised place. The breasts are small because the turkeys forage and aren't full of additives. The breast is skinless and boneless so I put it in a small crockpot and top it with 1/2 stick of butter, nothing else. That turkey was so tender I didn't need a knife. I looked in my freezer and saw that I had four more.

Now the funny part is I try to minimize things in my freezer during hurricane season. By the time Thanksgiving rolls around, I'll have eaten my quota of turkey.

I'm thinking about sharing some with my sister-in-law. It sounds like she's been pinching pennies lately and, I know, she loves turkey.

Now I have all this shrimp to finish off tomorrow.

Happy Alert August! Today folks we move along and see that we have 101 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 74 days to go until November, and 13 days left until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone arriving tomorrow friends. And it’s a huge one. It will be the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. Unreal huh? That is monumental. It’s Monday friends so let’s kick our week off with our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week. It stands at 14 weeks. Indeed folks we really are in an amazing spot now aren’t we? A week from now we’ll begin the 4th quarter of the build to Thanksgiving. Amazing. Friends I hope you are having a good start to your week. And if you aren’t definitely do your best to turn it around as much as you can. Perception can be reality. The older I get the more I’m learning to not sweat most of the stuff you can’t control, appreciate the little things (and not so little things) you have in your life and be positive as much as you can. Now that I gave my little Monday speech I hope you all enjoy your Monday. Make it a good day and check back here all week long. You know the topics we’ll have and we have milestones this week too. So a special week here in the month of August in the Thanksgiving Thread. Have a great Alert August!​
 
Just one more week (this week), until we begin the final countdown to being back in The Bers. I've got the late summer "feels" thinking about how soon we will be home!

Good weather all this week until we get to Saturday / Sunday, it looks to get back in the upper 80's for a few days after that. From now until then, we've got 70's all the way. Beautiful "Bers" weather!
 
I think it set in for me yesterday just how close we are. I was outside mowing last night and nearly ran out of daylight before I got done. I severely underestimated how early I'd need to get started, and I was used to the sun setting later.

Ironically, the music playing in my head was the soundtrack to It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown.

DAYS TILL THE BERS: 12

Happy Augusto! Today folks we move along and see that we have 100 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 73 days to go until November, and 12 days to go until The Bers. It’s a big Milestone Day folks as we have officially reached the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. Woohoo. Our next milestone will be the day after tomorrow when we reach Tom Turkey Day #9. It’s going to be fun for sure. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest (the later stages of it now) with our Picture Tuesday. Ahh yes you know what time it is friends. It’s time to get those pictures out of all the Autumn & Thanksgiving stuff so you can post them here for our enjoyment. Turkey friends I hope your week got off to a good start Monday and that it continues into Tuesday. And that you realize what a special spot we’re in. Nobody talks about the last dozen days of August. I used to at this point almost mail it in and want to rush to start September. Not any longer. The excitement at this point is building hour by hour. And it’s fun to be in this spot. You only get to be this close without touching The Bers very rarely during the year. Turkey friends I wish you all a great Tuesday and that you are doing ok. Strut like a turkey.
