Retirement--Almost Forgot

My husband will be retiring on New Year's Eve from the U.S. Forest Service. Then he will begin adding on to our house--at least to the kitchen/den part. I will FINALLY get the Wolf Stove that I have wanted for SO LONG--a double oven "thingy" with a big Wok burner!!! I cannot retire right yet, but when I do ya'll are invited to an Open House when I will do all the cooking. BUT, (Everyone has a Big Butt) you must provide your own transportation and lodging. We have one travel trailer that will sleep four, and that's it!!!

What are you willing to do???

Back in February, I had to pick up my son at UC San Francisco after a bone marrow transplant. It was late and very rainy. I kept telling my son that I could hardly see, that my lights were not bright enough. After I got home, I told my husband, and he "sanded" my plastic headlight covers. Nothing got better. So in early March, I ordered new headlights to the tune of over $300. Things did not seem to be a whole lot better. Then I went in to my opthamologist for a new prescription. After the exam, he walked back into the room and said, "When is the surgery?" I thought he was talking to his assistant about another patient. He repeated his question and looked at me. I said, "What surgery?" He said, "Cataract surgery!" I was FLOORED to say the least! Needless to say, I went for surgery as soon as possible! The results were AMAZING!!! Now wait just one minute. In late March, I continued to have a lot of what Southerners call "cricks in the neck." Nothing got better, so I went to the doctor again. At first, he thought I had gout; but I told him there was no way. He did xrays of my neck and said that it was not gout, but that I needed surgery on my neck because two vertebrae were "rubbing" against each other. SO, I went in for surgery on my neck. Before surgery, the doctor asked if I wanted to use a cadaver bone or a bone from my hip. "Please, please, please," I said " use my own bone from my hip." Right after the surgery, I though, "Wrong answer!!!" Recovery was sort of long for this old woman. THEN in July, my husband and I go on an across the USA trip to Orlando, then up to NC to visit family, and then even more across to visit my husband's relatives in Missouri, then home. Well, in Missouri, I fell, broke some ribs and injured my hip (yes, the one from which the bone for the surgery had been taken!!!). I went to the emergency room because I could not walk. Finally, many medicated days later, we arrived back home. THEN school began with 34 students, no aide, and LOTS of ADHD students (the second year in a row!)! ALL THAT BEING SAID, it is SO GOOD to be back on with no aches or pains (physically, at least). I must say, though, it is the PITS getting OLDER!!!!

Made, Christmas-A-Holic and I feel your pain! Dallas certainly doesn't look like a winning team, especially a Superbowl team!

That was a great finish. They definitely battled until the end. At least my time wasn't the only losing team today.

Good evening all!

Well the Bengals first game didn't go to well, I did like the offenses ability to move the ball in the 2nd half, but it was to little to late, it is game one, they can still go 15-1 lol. The kids are in bed, I will probably have to bring LC to the DR tomorrow, we believe he has the chicken pox now.

Have a good night!

I think you will have to settle for the bengals going 14-2. I am pretty sure that they will lose on November 14.

I hope LC gets better soon!!!!!

I would like to stay around and help but I have to get to bed. It is already past midnight here and I have to get up in 5 hours to go to work.

Goodnight Everyone!!!!!!!

Good morning Christmas friends!

Is it Monday already? YIKES! What a fast weekend that was! Whenever we have our granddaughter here...the weekend goes by way too quickly! I guess its because we are having soooooooo much fun.

I didn't want to get up this morning when the alarm went off. I snoozed it once - which is a rare thing for me to do.

Just wanted to stop in to wish you all a merry day!

Good morning, friends! We are back at Monday and it's a week with a milestone! A big milestone!

See everyone later!

You know what one of my favorite things are here? I love it when all the familiar faces from last Christmas start coming back. Reminds me when my brother was in college and he would come home for Christmas from the university. Kinda neat.

Good Morning MMC !

My first full week in the ranks of the unemployed. Going to talk to the folks at the trucking school today. Already have a job offer to team drive with my girlfriend once I have my licence.
Who knows, one day I may show up in your town and have a cup of tea with you! (if you live in the USA or Canada that is) cheesy

This being my first year here, I have noticed a lot of new and/or different names I haven't seen before lately. That is so cool how many people come back at this time of year.
