I started a new Christmas afghan recently. It's a pretty pattern, but there are dozens of ends to be worked in, and I finally put it away because it was no fun. I'm switching to winter hats temporarily (to send to the homeless shelter later in the year), then I'll pick out a more enjoyable afghan pattern and get the yarn for it. A couple of the patterns I want to do use special Christmas yarn, which I hope will be on the craft store shelves soon. If not, I could order it online.

Oh what a bummer! I hate it when you start something & it's pretty, it's just not fun!! Bummer! You will have to keep me posted (and share some pictures) of what you decide to make. I have been seeing ads for the Christmas yarn so hopefully it will be in stores soon. I think our Ben Frankllin does have some out - all year round. I have never tried to make anything except scarves & afghans. How nice that you send hats to the homeless shelter. I always did scarves for special olympics, but they discontinued that program (the scarves) this year. :( I just started an afghan for my sil (My brother who passed away in March - his wife) using all their birthstone colors - August, September & their anniversary October. I added some red (love) for color. I hope it turn out!!!!! :)

Thanks for sharing info about your projects! (Don't forget to share photos, too! cheesy) I enjoy hearing some crochet talk from other crocheters!

Back in the spring I went through all of Red Heart's free online patterns and saved a few dozen as PDFs. They have a couple of gorgeous Christmas afghan patterns that require embroidering cross stitches over a background of single crochet. I might have to try those, but I'm not sure whether I'd like an afghan with a "wrong side" that shows the underside of the embroidery. Well, I'll never know until I try it! I've read that you can line the "wrong side" with fabric, but that's out of my league---I'm no seamstress. Some of the easier afghans use granny squares in different patterns. I also have a pattern for a square that uses front-post trebles to create holly leaves in the corners---that would make a pretty afghan. I'm hoping to come up with something new I can auction for Santa's Sleigh.

Good Afternoon Y'all!!

Well I got a wonderful suprise for my SIL (my DH sister). Our TV in our living room went out 2 weeks ago. long story short She and her family moved back home to La, and my DH went over to help them unload the "heavy stuff" she looks over at him and says "oh by the way we are giving you and the family something and she points... to a flat screen tv that is tall as me!!! (i'm5 ft 3) I had told her about our old tv giving it up and she and her DH talked it over and gave us theirs because they had that extra and it dont "fit" as she put it in her livingroom. needless to say I was in tears when she called and said something was on it way back with the DH and I saw what it was! so now as I type this out the kids are watching Frosty the snowman!!! LOL and tonight they have chose it's a wonderful life......Man I love my family, I'm truly blessed. Hope everyone is staying cool and I'll be back later on tonight!:wiggy:

Good morning Christmas friends. We have overcast skies as we begin our day here in northern California. It is probably from the forest fires up in the foothills. It has been unseasonably cool the past few days. We even turned off the whole house fan last night, and it's still too cool to turn it on again right now. I have some work to do in the kitchen getting ready for my oldest kiddo's visit. TTYL

Send it east! There is a lot of us who needs some cooler air.

Good afternoon, everyone! How are you guys doing today? I am well. Just sitting here, surfing MMC and watching Christmas in July on HSN. What could be better?

I've been soooo hungry for Italian Vegetable Soup lately and I was going to make it today, but then I stepped outside to let Ella out and then changed my mind. No thanks! Even though it's cool in the central air, the hot air outside made me think twice!

What is everyone else up to today? I don't have much to do. I have to start going through the kids clothes for fall at some point, which I should start doing today. I have to take them to store I sell them at, then the rest will go to Goodwill or Salvation Army.

Well, I will talk to you all later. Hope all of you are enjoying your day! Take care and talk soon!

When you take them to Goodwill or The Salvation Army, you could see a good collection of Christmas stuff for sale! I go there once a month for books and get a look at the Christmas stuff.

It's HOT! I think rocks are liquefying outside right now, they are saying possible T-storms moving in later. The TV station was saying be prepared to take cover if warnings are issued. It could be a long day ahead if those words come true.

I hope severe storms do not land in your area! Stay cool, xmas!!

Good afternoon, MMC!

Sending a positive 'ber vibe to all of you trying to stay cool!

:cold:
