Thanks, Holiday. You are right about the rain picking this time!!! You should have seen us Sunday when we were trying to get the water off the tarps that had sunken down almost touching the dirt. We finally bailed enough water buckets to pick up the tarps and get the last of the puddles off. Then my son had the bright idea of putting out a carpet fan used by carpet cleaners who do insurance work on flood and fires. That really helped to dry out the few small areas where water did get into the dirt and create some muddy areas.

Oh man! Go figure. You're in a drought & it picks now to rain!! I hope everything goes smooth from here on out!

It seems that weather gets weirder and weirder the older I get, LOL!

The way I see it, there's SO much more data available to forecasters to interpret these days. Sometimes that allows a more accurate forecast or a longer-range forecast, but when models disagree, all that data just leads to "well, we'll know when it happens." The news media sometimes complain about schools being cancelled the day before a forecast storm. I think that administrators are taking advantage of the fact that, in recent years, severe weather forecasts are (often) generally more accurate, and the threat of severe weather is detected earlier. Forecasts are a long way from infallible, but meteorologists today usually can tell us (and should tell us) whether their forecast is "high confidence" or a tough call.

Good Morning!

We have been a bit busy with our little dog, Chico. He has been to the vet 3 times in one week. He is having problems with his heart. He still eats, drinks, follows me around the house and seems happy but we are just trying to get fluids off his belly which is serious. I just have to pray his medication starts working!

With all that going on I have actually lost interest in the Olympics. That is very unusual for me because I love the Olympics! I was really looking forward to watching them but cannot focus on it right now - just been so busy with Chico.

Okay, I must keep merry thoughts in my mind! =)

I saw this on the news this morning, it's so sad. I've always enjoyed her movies. I had one of the original Shirley Temple dolls from the early 70's, she was in her red polka dot dress. I gave it my girls to play with when they were younger, I haven't seen it in a long time. It's definitely in the house somewhere.

My mom had one too and I just remember her showing me the doll when I was little and I would always think to myself how beautiful it was.

It's amazing that you're in NY, but you aren't getting all this snow that's coming down between us. I have a lot of family in Buffalo, and they say it hasn't been too bad this year. They're almost always snowed in!

Our snowfall totals are above average here on Long Island. We have had one storm after another!

I am soooooo sick today. I'd like to be home in bed, but I'm behind in my work so I came in. I might as well have stayed home, as all I've done is cough, blow my nose, and stare at the computer screen. This is the third cold I've had since the new year (the fourth since just before Christmas), I just can't seem to keep away from them this year. Maybe I'll just call it a day and get out of here, as I'm not getting any work done anyway. Ugh!

how is everyone doing? All good here....Kandice is busy dancing for the Carnival and has been very sick with an influena like virus....it was not Influenza....but had the symptoms....fever, headaches, sneezing, coughing....she was home for the entire last week but is a happy camper again

I thought I would come here to visit for some Christmas cheer. I am so worried about Chico but trying to stay positive. My birthday is in a couple of days and all I want is for him to be better as my gift!!!!!!!

My mom is wanting to take me out to lunch tomorrow to celebrate a day early but I told her it all depends on how Chico is feeling. I am suppose to go out on my birthday as well, again, all depends on Chico! I just want him better!

It's actually above zero this morning!! We are at 9 degrees, and it's snowing! We got about 3 inches overnight, and are expecting around 3 more by the end of the day.

I have seen 3 different totals this morning alone. One said 3-6, the next said 6-10, and the last said 8-12. They should just wait until the snow flies and then measure it. Then it would be accurate. cheesy I think it is because we are right on the line of snow-heavy snow. I am just happy I am not scheduled to work tomorrow because I worked on Sunday.

My area tends to be on the border of the storm bands, too, so depending on what channel you listen to, the forecast is different ~ sometimes markedly so! I'm so glad you don't have to work! Stay safe!

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

What a cold, wet day! We are apparently on the outside edge of the ice, so it's just rain here, but a lot of it! And I just got my driveway holes filled in and leveled out. Doggone it. Nancy is never careful with that. I bet my drive is all squishy with ruts from her car. I'll have to buy a new shovel this weekend, I guess.

I took Nancy for her eye exam yesterday afternoon. The doctor took an image of her eye, then said she had a real problem and would need medical attention pretty soon. We were getting worked up, then he said, "Wait. There's a smudge on the machine lens. Let's try it again."

It was clear. I could have throttled him.

Anyway, we got home so late, I missed out on the county commissioners' meeting. At least something good came of it!

Good afternoon, MMC!

Good news: I changed the cord on my phone line and haven't had any problems since so hopefully that was what was causing my disconnects. Yesterday I went down the basement stairs and back up them normally and there hasn't been any pain ~ my knee has finally healed! So glad for that as now I can get back to my favorite workout routines which I have not been able to do for months.

Praying that everyone in the path of the storms stays safe! Be MERRY, my dear friends!

Hello strangers!!!! I guess we have been busy...haven't been on here for far too long!!! Hope all is well with everyone!!!! Cold here again today -4! (not as cold as some of you, but Brrrrrrrr!) I hope the days of negative 0's are numbered!!!!

We had a big day Saturday. Went to look at a cabinet makers showroom. Very impressive! He is working up a quote for our new kitchen cabinets/island. My brother is critiquing the plans the lumber company drew up for our sun room/year round room. Ahhhhh....soooo many decisions!

THEN (the REALLY) exciting party - we went to see puppies!!!!!

One of these 3 babies (these are the 3 available females) will be ours. We get the 1st pick when they are ready, towards the end of the month:

Will be a tough decision!! My sister says we should go for little miss front & center...my brother says to pick the lifeless one! HA!!! Maybe we will go for the middle of the road one! :smile:

Just heard the Tavern up the road is on fire, mutual aid called. I hate to hear that. They have great food!!! My 1st job was in the kitchen there - then I bartended for a little while once I was old enough. Hope it's not too bad!

I finished Charlie's blankie & he appears to LOVE it! Charlie is my niece's golden doodle Pup! 11 weeks old!

The removal of the trees in Ann Hathaway Park along Downie and Bruce street are being removed due to infestation of Emerald ash borer.
I took this picture just a few weeks ago.

This park is next to where I live. It was my favorite place to walk among all the beautiful mature trees, it looked like a giant green hallway in the summer. It is so sad to see all of them now gone. I understand why they needed to do it, but I have to say it made me cry to see the park now so bare.
