Good morning Snowflake22...I did at long last get my tree decorated last night but with complications lol..We finished decorating the tree at midnight then i just stood looking at the tree and said there is something missing on it...I just got that funny look from my wife and she said whats wrong with it i said it needs white lights on it...She went to bed and i took it all down and redecorated it and finished it about 1.30am..The family got up at 6pm and went WOW..She said right decision..will post pictures later this week sometime

Not too much going on here, I'm just working on some chores around the house. I have to head out soon to pick up a few things at the supermarket.
I also plan on going to the mall later this afternoon with my mother to do some more Christmas shopping

Good Morning, MMC!!!!! It's going to be a rainy day here but that's okay. At least I don't have to shovel it!!! Speaking of which, that dreaded S word is in the forecast for saturday night. Doesn't sound like it will be very much though so that's okay. Not to much going on today. I've had my youngest niece since yesterday morning. She has pneumonia and had to stay off of school yesterday and today. So I'll just be hanging out with her until her mom picks her up this afternoon. Then I need to run to the store to pick up a few things for Thanksgiving before they go off of sale. Praying for all of you. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!

Some better, thanks. Circumstances are the same (and will be going forward), but some days I'm stronger at facing them than others.
Getting excited about Thanksgiving, actually! But so many Christmas season things yet to be done.

Merry Tuesday...not up too much today. Work just got a pretty busy and this is supposed to be our slow time of year but I guess not! So I am enjoying some Christmas music to get me through it. Not up too much tonight. I ma hoping to get a work out in...it is my goal to get back into regular workouts!

Unfortunately my supervisor said no gift cards...but today she came in and said she has no idea what to get so she mentioned us each making a short list to give ideas.

Yes, it is! We've done quite a bit of it in the last 10 years.

Well, we are renting right now.

I think we are leaning to a custom build home. It will be a similar size, and in a nice single family neighborhood, with walking and biking trails. We walked the neighborhood and talked to homeowners in the development, to see how it was working with the company, and if they were impressed with the quality. And they love theirs, so it was reassuring and got us excited!

We like one of the floor plans best, but we are re-designing some of the layout, and customizing the features.Some upgrades, too.
So, it will be a custom home based on one of their designs if that makes sense.

My friend bought one of those last year - a "Ryan Home" - it's very nice!! There is one going up down the road from us too! Good luck with all your decisions!!! xx

Good morning, everyone!

It's a beautiful day in Ottawa. Temperatures are around the mid single digits/low 40s without much wind. The sun is shining. It truly is a mid-November Day... Mid-November? I mean, an early Christmas Season day.

I've been busy the past few days. Yesterday, I thought I would have a break and be able to post while teaching. Instead, I had a couple extra periods for teaching and did not get my break at all. I hope everyone had a great start to their first full week of the Christmas Season.

Today has been a decent day thus far. I was finally able to put my Christmas music on my iPod last night. This allowed me to finally start my day off right. The 30 minutes of Christmas music while driving is the perfect way to start a day. I had missed it since last year. Of course, I listened to plenty of my favourite Christmas songs on the weekend, but this was the first in my car.

Well, it's another busy night tonight. I have competitive dodgeball, which is super fun at 7:30, then I have a very late game of hockey at 11:15pm. I like hockey, but that is way too late for anything that does not involve my head on my pillow.

I have no work yet for tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. I really want to get at least four days in this week. As of right now, I only have three.

Thanks! I try not to spend too much, but within minutes of walking in the door last year I found a ceramic Santa with a sack that you could put candy canes or other treats in, and I caved.

The garden center is big---one room leads to another room and to another, a few stairs up, a few stairs down ... it's fun wandering through and trying to see everything without missing anything!

The short list is a great idea. The spending limit is quite high so that should make choices quite flexible. I agree with your supervisor. Cash or a voucher defeats the purpose of a gift exchange. I am not against them and they certainly have a place for various occasions but on Christmas it's nice to spare a thought isn't it.

Another side of it, though: A well-chosen gift card CAN be thoughtful. We have friends and relatives who like certain stores or restaurants, and love to get a gift card so they can splurge a bit and get something that might otherwise be out of reach. On the receiving end, well, Mr. and I are difficult to shop for. But give us an Amazon gift card, and we love spending it on something we've been thinking of buying, but didn't want to spend so much for.

The most thoughtful gift we got last year, I nearly wept. Mr. was laid off in October and getting very few temp assignments. Two friends at the office clubbed together to get us a generous gift card to one of our favorite local restaurants so we could enjoy going out to lunch or dinner without feeling guilty about bruising the budget. I feel a bit choked up remembering it!

My dad had a home like that in the '90s. He had a handicapped ramp added in the front for my mom, and had the laundry on the ground floor instead of in the basement. It was a very nice home.

A custom-built (or customized) home would be so great---to make the home match what you want, instead of accommodating yourself to a previously built home.

It's not as bad as all that, but some days I just feel overwhelmed. Other days I can forget things and enjoy myself.

Funny enough, Mr Festive and I were fantasising about moving to the states the other day. We even checked out house prices just for fun. We were astonished how much more affordable (and BIGGER) houses are over there !

Anyway, it all sounds amazing! Can't wait to hear about the progress in the coming months.

We'd LOVE to have you in the U.S.! And you could have Lipton tea every day!

I have Pre-Travel Jitters, my belly is full of butterflies..
Feel a bit sick actually... *lol*
