Hope everyone is having a peaceful Monday.
Just wanted to ask you all if you would please say a prayer for Noah's girlfriend's grandmother? (Soon to be his fiance - I was just asked for grandma's ring to take with him to Montana, to propose atop of the highest point they can hike/camp to on horseback their last weekend there, which will also be their anniversary and there - he wants to ask her under the stars - no she has no clue).
Grandma is by no means 'elderly,' or feeble. Grandma is a US Airforce vet and a riot. I drove over to pick up Noah from her house last week, which was my first time meeting her in person. She was hysterical and I loved that she still had Christmas wreaths on her door and inside two large display cases filled with Christmas villages and Santas. Yes I wanted to be her best friend right then and there.
Over Thanksgiving she went to the VA in Tallahassee, because she'd been having headaches that wouldn't stop. After a CT and a biopsy they determined she has a benign cyst that grew around the spinal cord at the base of her skull. They felt the best course of action was to operate after the 1st of the year to remove it, but to completely remove every trace, they would have to go into the spinal column, remove two vertebrae and replace them, otherwise the cyst could grow back. So her option was several surgeries over years to continually remove it, or this big invasive procedure, once. She opted for the big one.
Today was her surgery date. Dana just texted me that Dot is being moved to recovery now. In about a week, she can come back home, Dana will be staying with her. She'll have to be in a jaw and shoulder harness which positions her head and holds it isolated and still for 3 months. She was telling me about the surgery when I was picking up Noah that night. She said, "It's fine - you get through it, but the thing that really worries me - What has me up pacing the floor at night, what I'm most frightened of - I have to eat my daughter's cooking for three months." Then she shuddered. ROFL
Dana said, "Nanna don't worry - I'm sure if you ask nicely, I might be able to get my boyfriend's lovely mom to either teach me how to cook, or possibly make some meals to bring to you." ROFL
Hoping she heals quickly. Personally that would drive me nuts being immobilized for 3 months.
