My sis just texted that Mom downed a McDonalds sunday! :D She is getting stronger every day, we just need for her white blood cell count to continue to go down. We got there last night & her door was closed with a green sign on the door. After 9 days, they say she MIGHT be contagious! REALLY??? REALLY??? Makes ya wonder sometimes!!!

Evening all,
Hope everyone is having a good day so far.

The Dr. appointment went well. Fortunately, she didn't need any convincing that Isaac's coughing and the coughing episodes he's had recently is a concern. I explained to her that the antibiotic treatment hasn't done much for him nor has the Ventolin inhaler. She agreed that it's been a number of weeks and this isn't normal.

She suspects asthma so we have been prescribed a steroid inhaler which he has to use on top of the other inhaler. She will assess him again in another two weeks. If there is no improvement or things get worse before then he will be referred to Pediatrics hospital for tests.

I hope and pray this works for him. He currently has a virus so this isn't helping things and is most likely aggravating the asthma. If there is no change over the weekend I will be going back before our scheduled appointment though.

I'm happy to hear that the doctor appointment went well. I'm glad that his doctor understands and agrees with your concerns, and is taking further action.
Praying that the steroid inhaler works well for him, and gives him relief. Bless his heart.

He should also be able to advise you on how to break the vicious cycle of illnesses at your house. Do you have the option of going to another doctor for a second opinion? (Excuse me for asking ... I don't know how healthcare works in the U.K., except for some very unflattering sketches about nationalized medicine that I've seen on "The Two Ronnies"...)

LOL Goodness I don't know the sketch but I can just imagine!

There are four doctors at the medical centre where we are registered so I planned on requesting another opinion today if the Dr wasn't helpful. Fortunately she didn't need convincing that it's not normal and is a concern especially as he is so young.

The cycle of viruses at the moment is most likely down to the children picking up things at school and us at work. There are so many bugs around ! In previous winters we have made it without anyone getting ill. I try to keep on top of it at home. I sanitise door handles, switches, remotes etc on top of using an air purifier in the house and we have all been on immune boosting vitamins so I guess it can't be helped. Hopefully next winter will be better.

That makes me remember when my grams was in the hospital and wouldn't eat. My uncle brought her an ice cream and she ate it so fast. My uncle said "oh that goes down easy".

Thanks Stacey . He is so little to be going through this. I hope this works because it's scary when these coughing episodes happen. Asthma can be serious and dangerous if untreated so I am thankful we are in control and in the know now. I suspected it might be but they can't confirm with tests until he is 5.

I am looking into getting a Himalayan Salt lamp. My brother uses one for his asthma. It is also good for general well being and has a lot of health benefits so no harm in trying right? Plus it looks cosy :)

Thanks for the update. I'm glad the doctor is hearing and responding.

And viruses you can't do much about when they're around, except what you're already doing---wash hands frequently and wipe down everything constantly with sterilizing wipes, and let in a little fresh air when it isn't too cold ... even then, you're likely to bring home a bug from a shopping cart handle or an elevator button or something. Spring and summer can't come soon enough! Hang in there!

Good morning, MMC!

Morning came too early today. I managed to get up shortly after the alarm went off, but after a few hours I went back to bed for a nap. Rarely do I nap, but I think I really needed one as I am not feeling all that great today. The 2 1/2 extra hours of sleep felt so good! Working from home so it is all good, but I do find that I am a bit behind where I wanted to be. That is okay, just need to work a bit longer later today. Under a wind advisory today, but the sun is supposed to come out and it should get quite warm. Hope so!

Off to work on projects.
