Christmas Countdown - 2016

[Holiday]

The workday was brutal again ... Third 10-hour day in a row ... and I've been told that's just a taste of what's coming in the next few weeks. I'm glad I have a few days off left to schedule!

Even though I'm a proofreader, which you wouldn't think is very physical work, I hurt all over from tension in my hand, arms, neck, and upper back. Besides having to make tiny marks on tiny fonts for hours at a time, there's a lot of wrestling with 11x17 and 12x18 paper stock. TGIF!

We have a new Blu-Ray set of Marx Brothers movies to take my mind off work. Yay!

I forgot to tell you - I had never done anything with the starts that Jackie had set inside her Christmas Cactus - I realized last week - even her starts are blooming!!!

GOOOOOOOOOD morning! Well, nearly afternoon! I'm preparing my house for a visitor next weekend (NYC at the end of next week, followed by my friend from London staying a week!) and part of the preparations include decorating prior to his visit... I leave the 3rd and am hoping to get everything going the 1st... can it be done???? Hmmm.. it'll be a tough one! My decorating generally takes a bit of time to complete! I am going to start on the washing of the linens, Christmas blankets, etc, this week! Eeek!!

I am very old fashioned when it comes to my favorite Christmas music, I love the crooners the most. The only contemporary Christmas music I truly like is Straight No Chaser, I just pre-ordered their newest Christmas CD from Target, they have an exclusive version with 2 extra songs on it. It will be released Friday, October 28.

I don't think I have heard "Straight No Chaser" - I will have to look them up. Most of my favorite Christmas cd's are Country singers (except for the classics, of course) And of course Kenny G & Josh Groban...

Good evening,

A warm and humid day here today. A long day at work, it was a very slow customer traffic day.
One month until Thanksgiving, the turkey push will be starting after Halloween.
We have booked our trip to NYC on Dec. 10, one of my dreams to see the tree at Rockefeller Center is going to come true.
One more day until my day off.

Good morning MMC! "Happy" Monday! I stayed with Mom last night so was late coming in to work this morning. It was such a nice cozy morning...hard to come in. Ah well - here I am!

Oh - I was SO happy this morning to see "4 days until Countdown To Christmas" on the Hallmark Channel this morning. How exciting it that???

Good Morning .. well after several days of too warm and well above normal temps the weather is more seasonal thanks to the cold front that moved through last night. Overcast, damp and chilly ... I'll take it Perfect morning to lounge around drinking coffee! Going to make a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner and watch some Halloween movies later. Kids want to make cookies but they want to try a new one so I am waiting for them to let me know what they want to make.

I love soup season!! I made Cheeseburger soup at the lake Saturday night - delish! Perfect comfort food when temps are dropping!

Happy Monday afternoon ... can't believe its a week from Halloween already!!! The temps are more seasonable, did a good amount of cooking and baking over the weekend. The excitement for the holidays is building even more. My son even turned on some Christmas music over the weekend! Absolutely LOVE this time of the year!!!

Yes, Folks. Two months from today, it will be Christmas Eve, with all of its magic!


A bit warmer yesterday, but it was still on the cool side, requiring a light jacket.
Today should be pleasantly warm with highs in the mid-70's and no precip.
At this time, our back door thermometer shows 53 degrees under clear skies.

Good Monday Morning MMC!!!

I've been MIA for the last 2 weeks and I've missed you all. The girls and I have just been so busy with day to day and church activities that I don't know if I'm coming or going. And it doesn't look like it's going to slow down anytime soon. Lizzybeth has candy-paloza at church where all the master club kids come dressed as their favorite sweet treat. Lizzybeth is going as a bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans. I've got to finish that tonight because I have a DATE tomorrow evening!!! That's right folks I've been asked out by a young man who I met on Match almost 3 weeks ago. Wish me luck.

This weekend is my friend Erin's wedding and after am service on Sunday our church is doing a trunk or treat that afternoon and we're participating in that of course. Not to mention Halloween itself on Monday.

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

We had a whirlwind trip to the mountains, and it was perfect! The weather was crisp, the leaves were orange and yellow and red, the decorations were awesome...it was just as good as I wanted it to be! We drove up Friday evening, and got home about 6pm yesterday, and it was SO worth it. LOL

We bought several pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. They were sorted by size ($1 for small, $2 for medium, and $4 for large!), and there was a lockbox for you to put your money in. The honor system! I love it!

Lulu enjoyed it, too!

Two months from today is my favorite day of the year! It's hard to believe that it's so close.

DH got into the Christmas spirit this weekend! We were at Home Depot to order new shutters for our house.....; We did that & bought a Christmas tree that has both multi & clear lights & a remote control, a train that attaches to the tree trunk and goes up and around the tree, two different kaleidoscope lights & a projector that has Halloween, Christmas & New Year scenes with sound on it. I told DH I was going to do Hallmark ornaments on the main tree this year and he said I can do multi-color lights with it. In 23 years, we've always done clear lights but I love multi!!

You will be all decked out to festively! Please post photos!

Sorry you had to deal with this. I follow a few Christmas pages on FB and over the summer a father commented to me to "stop liking pictures" because it was too early...ugh!

Oh, yes, film splices! Same deal---when watching movies I saw on TV long ago as less-than-pristine prints with various splices, my mind will sometimes play back the splices. Mr. has the same experience; when watching a DVD, he can point out which parts his local stations edited out to make it fit a particular time slot!

I have Mr's experience when I watch "The World of Henry Orient". There's an extended dream feel - slow motion segment of the girls leaping over objects as they run around New York that was cut by KTVU Oakland - San Francisco when they aired it.
