I'll probably have people jumping on me from a great height but you know what?? An ice cold beer, possible even 2 won't do you or the bump any harm at all. I'm not saying go out and get totally wasted but one beer isn't going to affect anything.

I'll admit to having a drink when pregnant - a glass of wine here and a beer there. I used common sense. There are so many people out there that go a full term pregnancy without even know they're expecting - Lord knows what THEY get up to! Smoking I think would have a more lasting effect on the child. When I worked as a candy-striper in a local hospital, one of the men on the ward I was assigned to (cardiac) was prescribed a bottle of stout every day - I had to go down to the hospital pharmacy every day to get him one!!!!!!

I can promise you, Bruce had no visible lasting effects from a bottle of beer when I was pregnant!!

oh i agree, i don't think the odd one does any harm, it's just that i was the designated driver so i thought i better not risk it, i've already got terrible pregnancy brain and it's making my driving appalling!

my lovely aunty rang me absolutley devastated this morning. her 12 year old tea cup jack russell passed away unexpectedly and she is heartbroken. it was a lovely little dog and it meant the world to her. she's saying she would never get another pet again as it hurts too much, but i hope in time she will change her mind, she's so good with animals it would be a shame if she didn't.

I realize I'm new and intruding a bit, but to my understanding, alcohol can have an impact on an unborn baby's mental development. I recall one study (in a psychology textbook) that followed children through the age of 14. Some children were born of parents who never drank when pregnant, others with parents who did drink occasionally during the pregnancy. The children with parents who drank scored lower on tests (including IQ tests) in general.

That's not to say the test wasn't skewed in some way or the results atypical. It very well could have been. Might have been a coincidence as well. And I'm certain it doesn't apply to all cases. However, it's not a risk I'd be willing to take if I could at all avoid it.

Sorry, Maureen. I hope you don't take offense... I promise I'm not trying to attack you! It just popped into my mind when I read your post and I thought others may be interested in it. Glad to hear your baby is beautiful and healthy. :)

Good Morning, Friends, and welcome to a brand new week.

Our count continues to advance ever onward:
Days to the Season: 81
Days to Christmas Day:123.
TOMORROW! The 2/3 mark on our journey to Christmas Day.
Astounding!

Overcast here this morning but rain is not predicted.
(We shall see - we shall see.)
Our temp stands at a nicely pleasant 72 wonderfully walkable degrees.

Have a Marvelous Monday, Everyone!

Here we are at the start of another week. They seem to be coming quicker and quicker. The cool weather we had all weekend is leaving us today and we are back to summer. I think the plan for today is to do some laundry. Hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strangest thing happened to me this morning. I woke up and it just felt like Christmas. My wife and I usually do things a little differently. We kick up everything Christmas in mid September (100 days til Christmas) which we are about 3 weeks away from. Periodically through the year we will watch a Christmas movie here or there and we limit our Christmas music to only my piano lessons. Last night we decided to finally watch the Polar Express in 3D which was simply amazing. If you haven't watched it in 3D you all should really check it out.
Getting off track, but this morning when I woke up it just felt like my countdown was unnecessary and I am ready for all things Christmas. I got up and immediatly came to MMC which I haven't really looked at since Christmas last year. I just think that it's amazing that I'm 33 years old and today when I woke up I felt like a kid. I feel like this every year but never in August. It is such a wonderful feeling. Just felt like sharing.

Well, if you haven't been here since last Christmas...Welcome back, Unchosen! cheesy

Good morning all.....Can not believe how fast the weekend went by. Saturday we took the kids to The Nation Christmas Center, its a museum. It was awesome......Took alot of pics now just need to fine time to download and post them.
We finished up back to school clothes shopping for our daughter yesterday. So now both kids are set with new clothes and shoes for the fall.

Well a great day all.

Good morning, everyone!

It's the start of another work week, but it becomes exciting when you think about how much closer it brings us to Christmas. The 122 day and 2/3 mark should bring plenty of joy tomorrow. It is certainly a respectable accomplishment. Temperatures are supposed to reach mid 70s here today, very comfortable and partly sunny.

Glad to see everyone enjoyed themselves this weekend and I am certain that we're already looking forward to next weekend, too. It was relatively quiet and bus-less for me, which was very welcomed. Have a fantastic day and enjoy yourselves.

Welcome back, Unchosen. 100 days is quite a milestone to begin the festivities. I support it! Anyway, be sure to stay around and continue the countdown. I'm sure it will go by much faster.

Good Monday morning, everyone!

I got home from Atlanta yesterday afternoon. I lOVED the show! Lee Greenwood sang "God Bless the USA" to a roaring, standing crowd!

Charlie Daniels Band played "Wooly Swamp", "The South's Gonna Do It Again", "In America" and "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". It ROCKED! He is one the most under-appreciated guitarists I've ever seen...especially at his age.

Michael W. Smith sang "My Place in this World" and several others. He played piano and sang alone. It was excellent!

Finally Billy Ray Cyrus came out and played several songs, including "Achy, Breaky Heart"...LOL! It was a lot of fun.

During the show, they had invited families of military personnel who were killed or were now serving, and thanked them for their sacrifices. The even did a live satellite feed to Iraq so two parents from Atlanta could talk to and see their son and a young woman could see and speak to her fiance'.

It really was a great time, but I'm glad to be home. My sister-in-law insists on traveling upscale. We stayed in a magnificent hotel downtown. And I had to pay $30 to let someone else park the car?!? Now, when I travel, we stay at Holiday Inn, so I had no experience with this. I asked the valet if he had the right account, and he said he did. So, another $30 wasted on someone parking my car a block away. I could've done that!

Well, live & learn, huh?

Unchosen- Welcome Back and I will deintley have to check out polar express in 3D.

Bradmac- Glad to hear that you had a good time. It sounds like a great concert.
