Got hard acts to follow but here is my special post 3 for the 2010 Countdown to Christmas season cheesy

In the bleak midwinter.................

............when the snow lay round about, deep and crisp and even............

........let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!!

Why are most of our favourite Christmas songs/carols based on precipitation falling from clouds in the form of ice crystals??!! Let’s face it, if we were going to be more authentic, we’d most likely be extolling the virtues of sandstorms and slightly above average humidity, given the whole Christ based Bethlehem origin of the season and “I’m dreaming of a 85*F comfort level Christmas” certainly wasn’t going to sell Bing many records

For every ying, there is a yang – a heads for every tails. No matter how much fun (or hassle) you get from the slushy white stuff or, in the case of Scotland, lots of icy rain, you always come in from the cold. You find yourself making a hot drink, grabbing a few cookies and settling down to watch it all from the comfort of your own cosy couch with Christmas songs playing softly in the background and your tree all aglow.

At the risk of sounding twee, that’s how I see MMC. Work and the real world and day to day stuff are the cold outside. There’re some good moments (equate it to making snowmen, snow angels and going carolling) and some not so good (hitting an icy patch on the road and sliding into a snowdrift). MMC is my hot drink, couple of cookies and cosy couch – it already comes with the Christmas music! I can relax, recharge and indulge in a little “me” time, psyching myself for the chilly great outdoors once more. It’s my year long Christmas indulgence that doesn’t leave me feeling like I’ve put on 6 lbs!!!!

Making this special post in the final days before the arrival of the Christmas Season proper makes me feel like I can give a little back to the site and people from whom I’ve received so much. I’ve gone a little off course in my ramblings (so what else is new?!) but my wishes to you all are as warm as the chestnuts roasting in the open fire.

Here endeth Day 3 – have a wonderful, wonderful season everybody and, guess what? It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

Beautifully said, Maureen. May you also experience such a warm and loving feeling this Christmas Season.

Good evening, everyone! Is it 5 PM already?

Where has this day gone? I was up with the sun at 6:50 AM and now it's already 5:06 PM and the sun is setting. The days are definitely getting shorter and the excitement continues to build toward winter solstice and a week or so beyond!

Although "It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas," as Maureen stated in her fantastic Special Post, the weather seems to be holding on to fall here in North Bay. Today, it was clear blue skies all day and a temperature that reached about 10C. On Friday, it is supposed to be about 10C here and 12 or 13C in Ottawa! A beautiful day of sunshine to ring in the Christmas Season... No complaints here. The snow will come soon enough!

Well, I have an assignment due on Friday that needs to be done tonight. It shouldn't take very long, but I don't suspect that I will have much time tomorrow with my dad coming by. Have a great Wednesday evening, everyone. The work week is more than halfway over and we're on the final downslope of the week toward the Christmas Season!!

Good Morning Everyone!!!! It's hard to believe that another week is half over. I don't have much planned for today. I want to go through all of my candy recipes and make sure I have everything I need to make them now. Then I may go do some more christmas shopping. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just bought a new candy thermometer today so that I could get busy with my Christmas candy too! cheesy

Have fun making some candy. I might get back to it sometime. cheesy

Day 1 Special post counting
down to start of the season:

As we enter the start of the Christmas season for 2010, I can not think of a nicer place to hang out than here on My Merry Chrismas.com. Turn up the music on Merry Christmas radio and just enjoy!

Grab a mug of eggnog and a candy cane and join us on this special journey into the most magical time of the year.

Christmas is more than a date on the calendar; it is a place in our hearts and our homes.
It is a time to reflect on what is truly important to us. A chance to share our faith in the coming of a baby who would change this world forever.

Welcome to the start of the 2010 Christmas season, the greatest show on earth!!!

click here to enjoy a great song and one of my all time favorites:

:hello: Wonderful post and thanks for the song. I prefer their song Who Spiked the Eggnog, but the Christmas Can-Can was clever too. Thanks Christmasstar.

Hey feel free to repost this tomorrow AM folks.. it is the special countdown post for day 4.. I am SICK that I will miss the countdown Fri night.. though I will check in at some point during the day.

Much Love,,,, YABBA!

:rudolph: But who will supply the coffee needed to keep me awake for the start of the season? I don't know how long I'll be around on Friday, but I am planning on getting here in time to welcome in our first official start date of the season.

Won't be the same without you Binger.

:rudolph: I can't find O'Malley anywhere. I'm guessing he's beat me to the Pines and is conspiring with Carl again, perhaps they will supply the eggnog coffee in your absence.

Oh by the way ... Fabulous post for our fourth lead up to the start of it all!

:treeguy: My dad got a call from my oldest brother many years ago that he and his friend were stranded on the hwy. and needed his help. My dad got dressed, warmed the car up and drove for an hour to get to where my brother said he was. There was no car stranded on the side of the road. It was mid-winter too. My brother and his friend hailed a passing vehicle who gave them a tow to the nearest service station - I can't remember what was wrong with it. At first, my dad was annoyed with my brother for dragging him out into the cold and not waiting for him where he said he would be, but he was smart enough to drive on and recognized the vehicle of my brother's friend at the station another twenty miles away he forgave him quick enough because it was 30 below and the heater wasn't working in the car.

Oops! Re-reading my post, it sounds like I was "tooting my own horn". I hope you guys don't think I was patting myself on the back for helping my family! Believe me, I'm far luckier to have them than they are to have me! cheesy

:hello: I think you and your family are close-knit and that's a wonderful way to be.

This has really snuck up on me, but guess what tomorow night is??? We go to the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert!! SO excited!!! Their concert was so great last year (best one that I've been too so far) so I have high expectaions! LOL!

cheesy I'll bet it will be exciting and get you more revved up for the Christmas season!

cheesy Bang on! Not too mushy, just the right touch of sugar cookie chatter!

:-? Blah, I don't care for chestnuts, but the song is nice. HaHa. Still, I find the sharing of a special post in the lead up to the season my kind of merry payback.

Here endeth Day 3 – have a wonderful, wonderful season everybody and, guess what? It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

Thanks for a great Day 3 post, Maureen!

I was going to share a clip of the Scotish Sock Monkey's singing, but wanted to remind you of your home away from home as a little thank you for your post. Say hello to Bob and Doug. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2oPio60mK4

This year I have vowed to not make as many chocolate things. Last year I spent every afternoon for 2 weeks dipping things in chocolate. This year I am only making 3 things that require dipping.

cheesy Although it's been relatively warm in the afternoons around these parts, the mornings are a bit chilly, I can smell winter coming. Trust me, I can smell it. My husband thinks I was a bear in a former life. HaHa.

When I was doing my fitness routine in the wee hours, before the sun came up, I decided to go for a quick run around the indoor track. I've done this many times over the course of the year and find that if I squint my eyes slightly, all the traffic lights and street lights resemble Christmas lights. Red, green, amber and clear = beautiful - all they need is some greenery, tinsel and ornaments.

When I head home to shower and get ready for work, I can smell the cedar and small pines outside as I hurry up the walk and it brings me to thoughts of Christmas. My mom used to use cedar or balsam branches to decorate the railings and added long strands of silver-glass beads and big red bows.

This isn't my special post, that will indeed come tomorrow. Whether it comes before I head for spin cycle class or after dinner is another story, but it will come surely as Christmas is on the way.

I am determined to get here Friday night... someone tell Jayish to get his butt here...

YABBA!

BTW I have some trees up- threeof em in fact..

YABBA!

I'm bummed. Usually I have had a chance to get some snow at my house by now --- a dusting at least. We've had good promise of it these last few days but it just never materialized. I know the weather showed we got snow and I suppose somewhere deep in our mountains we did. But I didn't get a flake here, where I want it.

When I took Sandy out to California over the weekend I drove for ten hours getting her there only to turn right away and head back because of a storm bearing down on the Sierras. Been there, done that and didn't want to get stuck in it.

Now I wish I had.

When I go get her I am not paying attention to any weather, I'm just going to go. I need it to get into the full mood of things.

Hey...stormchasers....mymerrychristmas.com....coffee.....

Only thing that can beat this is being here Friday night!

Good evening friends,

I got the rest of the inside of the house done with the lights and garland, so now I can focus on all the little decorations and trees, and of course the outside, when my wife came home I told her I forgot the gate, so we went to do our grocery shopping to pick it up, guess what, we forgot it again. Just one of those days.

Have a great night!
