Good Morning, Friends.

It's a noun, not a verb! Kinklings are pastries that are traditionally made and eaten on Shrove Tuesday. They're deep-fat fried (like donuts), then coated with powdered sugar. (You shake 'em in a brown paper bag with powdered sugar in it.)......
Wow!
Carl saw that and it has given him ideas!
Not only would he like to serve some at the 'Pines, he would like to cross them with a batch of fired twinkies to come up with "Fired Twinklings"!
Red and green frosted, of course.
That Camel!

On that somewhat tasty(?) note, on with the count, which is ALWAYS in good taste.
<< Crown! >>
--sorry--
Days to the Season: 171
Days to Christmas Day: 213
UNDER two weeks now until the 200-day Christmas Window!

A little breezy here but calm with more heat ahead. We are again predicted to reach the low to mid 90's before some relief comes tomorrow.
Low chance of rain.

OK. Travel alert.
Lost my last Uncle at the age of 88 and we will be attending his funeral in Florida over the weekend.
A countdown volunteer will be needed for Saturday and Sunday mornings (and possibly Monday. We aren't yet sure if we will come home on Sunday or Monday).

Hey! My older niece just left for Italy yesterday afternoon on a month's trip as part of an education opportunity through NC State University where she just completed her sophomore year.
(We are already looking forward to her return and her stories!)

You have a Thrilling Thursday, Folks.

Run with it, Carl! I'll try one! cheesy

If there's any interest, I can post the recipe for kinklings to get him started.

Now that the heat is here it is time to bring on some chilly thoughts and think of Christmas even more!

Lilacs were one of my mom's favorites. It's one of mine, too!

yes weather seems to have gone crazy in many places.
Here it is unusually wet and chilly for this time of the year.
On the plus side, the lilac bush I transplanted that looked like it would die has perked right up and is looking good!

Good morning, Christmas friends. It is cloudy here in northern California. We had lots of rain, lightning, and thunder last night; but it was nothing compared to Southern storms. I hope everyone stays safe and cool!! Have a great day!

1st cake out of the oven.
Watching a show called "I Could Do That" right now a singer is learning to drive a locomotive. That would be cool to try! cheesy

WOW!!! Several people saw a tornado touch down in our valley this afternoon. What is happening with this weather??? I was so cold when we went to dinner! Stay safe, everyone. Have a great evening.

Tornadoes in Northern California. Pretty unusual. I grew up in Lodi. We saw a funnel cloud once when I was a kid. We all thought it was a great novelty. I wouldn't think that anymore.

More rain today. And it looks like rain will douse the Memorial Day weekend here. Strange times in Salt Lake as we've had easily twenty plus days of rain this month. Very Seattle-like. Not warm at all.

They've been predicting floods but that hasn't happened because it has been too cold up in the mountains for it to melt. That means big fears for June with flooding. Can't believe our mountains still are piled high with snow.

When we drove home from Denver the other day their mountains at the top -- around 11000 feet or so -- still had, I would say, at least 7 feet of snow.

No drought this year. Hate to think it is all going to come down at once because the reservoirs are full!

The Pennsylvania Rail Road Museum has an interactive 'virtual' exhibit where you can learn to drive a Diesel Locomotive. The instructions make it sound easy, but it was harder than it looked!

Hi all. Too hot AGAIN. Upper 80s and 90s with humidity EVERYDAY for the next 7+ days. So depressing. I don't get depressed with the snow and cold - the heat and humidity bums me out!

If you haven't had a chance to check out the new forum, Holiday Health, Fitness & Nutrition, please stop by, if you are interested.

A few of us have been working on it and welcome more people with tips and advice on the subject. We are slowly gathering some great healthy holiday recipes as well.

Hope to see you there! cheesy

Good Thursday afternoon, my Christmas friends!

We are home from Orlando, sunburnt and tired, but happy! I have started digging post holes for the pool deck today. Nothing like waiting until it's 90 degrees outside, eh?

Oh, well. Back to it. Have a great day, everyone!cheesy
