Christmas Countdown - 2011

A lot of post to catch up on! You guys are chatty! My kind of group. cheesy

We had a good day. Went to church this morning. Wayne and I are doing our deacon duties and in charge of communion and collecting offering for the month of May. I like doing that, keeps you busy while you are there but we get to sit down for the sermon. I love our pastor's sermons!

I then went to work after church and now I am TIRED!

I am so happy, my cat is doing so much better! He was sick for nearly a month. The first 2 weeks was kind of vague. He seems a little more lazy but not real sick, then he went downhill for the past 2 weeks. After 2 trips to the vet and 2 rounds of antibiotics he is getting back to his spunky self! Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone!

I passed out on the couch for a little bit, I am so tired. Back to the "funhouse" tomorrow, I need a vacation. During my bad day at work yesterday all I was thinking about was in a few years I will be my own boss, talk about motivation. We tried taking the boys out today to a farm when we got there they weren't behaving so we warned them if they kept it up we would leave, so they kept misbehaving and we left, they cried the whole time after that but lesson learned.

I must head to bed my eyelids are heavy.

Speaking of Wednesday, Carl has a special celebration planned in honor of bin Laden's demise. (His undercover activities in Saudi Arabia a couple of years back involved in part an intelligence mission in this effort.)

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

We went to Nancy's parents' house for diner last night. We had boiled peanuts and fried chicken sandwiches with tomatoes and sweet onions. Yum, yum! If you haven't tried Vidalia Sweet Onions, you don't know what you're missing. They are so sweet, they don't make your hands smell when you slice them, and your eyes don't water. My brother-in-law grew these and they rock!

I have some work to do this afternoon after work, then a city council meeting. Busy, busy. I hope you all have a great day! cheesy

I start my new shift today from 8am-5pm with weekends off. They needed me in the morning because I am so awesome. heh. I am never happy that someone dies but I am VERY happy that they got Osama. I'm from Canada but I have to say God Bless America today. Its been 10 years! We had a good relaxing weekend. New kitchen tap installed because the old one was leaking. OH and get this (I will post a picture tonight). We were at Canadian Tire and saw big tins from Christmas filled with popcorn. They had Santa and snowmen on it LOL. Awesome find. And since I had my Ipod with me I took a picture! Well back to work I go. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes with my back. I finally made it upstairs and got in my whirlpool and put epson salt in it and soaked a good hour and feel much better. I am going to a chiropractor tomorrow if it still hurts. Maybe I just pulled something..I don't know. I am still going to sleep in my recliner tonight to be on the safe side. I hope everyone had a good and peaceful weekend. I can't believe May is here..seems just like yesterday it was may last year. Have a good night all and I will talk to you all tomorrow!

If you haven't tried Vidalia Sweet Onions, you don't know what you're missing. They are so sweet, they don't make your hands smell when you slice them, and your eyes don't water. My brother-in-law grew these and they rock!

The feed store I work at sell starters, Georgia Sweet Vidalia Onions to plant and grow. They are the most requested plant that everyone wants to grow.

If I never hear another tornado siren in my life it will be too soon. There were times last Wednesday when the siren wouldn’t even be cleared from one warning before another sounded.

By now most of the major highways have been cleared of debris. However, crews will be working for months to come to clear the roadside of all the debris that was removed from the lanes of traffic. There are still very large numbers of people without power as crews work to restore downed tower structures and transmission lines. Many larger cities such as Huntsville, AL have a dusk to dawn curfew. To be out on the streets at night without working traffic signals is just too dangerous .

A major route is being shut down locally this morning while cadaver dogs search for more victims. The death numbers you are seeing reported are only the confirmed. Sadly, this same scenario is being played out throughout Central and Northern Alabama as well as parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Some local TV and radio stations finally started showing regular programs on a limited basis yesterday but for the most part are broadcasting local recovery information.

Understand that all is well in my part of the state…considering. The carnage and destruction begins one county down and one county over from me in Alabama and two counties southwest into Mississippi. The small towns of Smithville, Mississippi, Hackleburg, Alabama, and Phil Campbell, Alabama are no more. These close knit communities are hurting. Literally every person left of the population has suffered loss of family members and property. Three people from the office where I work lost homes or suffered serious property damage. One man from the office from which I retired lost his mother. Her funeral is today. Certainly there are many small communities across the region experiencing the same trial.

Forgive me for being a downer but this is the first time I have even been emotionally recovered enough to talk about it. My FaceBook status of last Thursday was all I could say at the time. My wife, children, grandchildren, and brother (though his power is off) are safe. We are blessed.

I sure would like to hear from Sugarplum Fairy. I did hear from primchristmas in hard hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama (about 110 miles south of me) yesterday. Her power was out and she has been out in the community helping her friends in true need. The Christmas Spirit personified!

I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was busy. Yesterday, a collegue from the office celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary, and we were all invited. It was a great afternoon, with nice weather and real good food. I feel a bit tired today, but I manage. Maybe I go to bed early tonight.
