Now, Christmas family, I would like to ask your opinion. While I make pretty good money with the company I am with, I am not nor have I ever been happy working for them. In your opinion, is it better to be happy in your work and maybe make less or is sticking with a well paying job that you are not happy in the way to go ?? I know that the decision is mine ultimately but I just wanted to get some feedback.

I am SO GLAD it is Friday. I still miss my regular schedule which they tell me was "temporarily"changed. That is one thing that upsets me. It is small but there are a lot of small things that are starting to build up.

In my opinion CM3, it is better to be happy at your job and make a little less money doing it. I could make more money as a nurse somewhere else and not have to drive as far, but I LOVE where I work and LOVE the people I work with it. Life gets hetic there too, but work is wonderful most of the time. Hope your schedule gets back to normal soon.

We had a very sad day last Wednesday, and I didn't post anything about it because I was so upset. Hobbs the Wonder Dog passed away, we think it was a stroke. We buried him in our back yard with his best friend Sandy, and thought we weren't getting any more dogs. Inflation and all, you know. But before two days were out, we both changed our minds. The house was just too quiet, and there was nobody to lick the plates when we were done eating.

So this morning, we went to the Anne Arundel Co. Animal Shelter, and came home with Victor. Victor is a mixed breed; he's part Jack Russell, but that's all we know. He is bigger than a Jack Russell, but what else he is is anyone's guess.

Anyway, here are a few pics of Victor to brighten your day.

Victor was as good as gold on the ride home. He was even reasonably well behaved in PetsMart. I took him next door to meet my Mom, and he washed her face very nicely. We are all very happy!

Oh-he came with the name "Victor", and I wondered "Why Victor?". But then it dawned on me- He looks like the "Victor/Victrola" dog.

So sorry for your loss, MerryBells. What cutie Victor is. May he bring you great joy and lots of love!

Quick hello during lunch, then back to the grind. Thinking of everyone, as usual!

Update on the record: It arrived yesterday. It's a 1959 45-rpm EP that shows its age---it gets stuck at one point, skips at another, and has its share of clicks and pops. (Sadly, my old stereo amplifier burned out when I went to play the record, but I was able to play it on the downstairs turntable.) I'm going to digitize it and see if I can clean it up any. Anyone know of a good de-crackle freeware? Or have any tricks for "fixing" a record that gets stuck or skips? I may even try to find a second copy so I can make one good digital copy from the two (like splicing replacement footage into a damaged film).

But content-wise, it's wonderful! I want to find a way to make a good digital copy so I can share it on MCR.

Back to work ...

HI if i were you . can you not take another day of.. i always thought that when you have a flu that you should stay away from work.. and you might pass it on. your a nurse ???? lol lol am trying to get you to take a another night of as there is not a nurse in all of the u.s deserves

I would have loved to call off another day, but they weren't even happy when I called off they day I did. That is the only thing I don't like about my job. When your sick, they frown upon people calling off, but I don't want to pass it on to other people or the patients.

I wouldn't have been contagious then. Plus, if I would have called off on my weekend, the rule is, I have to then work on my weekend off, which really stinks.

Take care of yourself. If you are down, then who?

Hello Christmas Friends

I know I haven't been here in a long time, Just wanted to let everyone know why. Little know fact about me, my ex father in law has been in my life for 12 plus years. even when his son and I divorced, and I remarried pop stayed with our family. he is my 2nd dad. On January 30 2012 our family was turned upside down. pop suffered a Hemorrhagic stroke. it's a stroke due to a brain bleed and it was in the middle of his brain. he suffered it here at home and I had to get him help. it's been a ruff 2 and a half months since then. Will he ever fully recover? we don't know..... but he can say a few words and he knows who everyone is and can at least move the left side of his body. it's going to take time, faith, and prayer.....

and now as I type this all but two of the 7 kids has the stomach virus and I haven't slept in over 24 hours.................. but I'm momma and when they are sick they want me:)

I so miss y'all and I wish merry blessing on all of you! please keep our family in your prayers thanks!!

On a happier note, my sister and baby are doing a-ok AND they found out - IT'S A GIRL!!!! I am soooo excited!!!

So glad to hear everything is okay! Congrats to them and to you! Very exciting!

good news...my niece got to go to prom last night!!
apparently when she got up yesterday morning, the swelling was down & her foot wasn't as sore. lot different from the day before, i don't know. she called me @ work to tell me & then came to get her wristlet. she was on cloud 9. later she came back by & had went & got her make up & hair done. she looked gorgeous. our hairdresser did a fab job. she said if her foot started hurting @ the prom she would take her shoes off. it sounded to me alot more serious than that, i thought it was probably broken.

That's great news! I am so glad she got to go. I hope she had a wonderful time.

I think my brother in law is getting off to easy while my sister is out of town. My mom cleaned their house yesterday and I just did all of my niece's laundry. Plus someone has cooked them dinner everynight. All he has had to do is give my niece's their bath and put them to bed.

when hubby got home i think my daughter just about squeezed him in two. she had called dibs on the 1st hug so she got to him 1st. i think she missed him as much as i did. he's been telling us all about the trip, as he's never been there before. he really enjoyed it! gotta tell ya'll this, he called me friday evening from Brussels, asked me what is Belgium famous for, i said...waffles? he busted out laughing....he said NO, their chocolate! i felt so 10 years old. duh? anyhoo, he brought us some Belgium truffles & all i can say is OMGoodness....i am a true chocolate feen & have tried lots of different types but, these thing melt in your mouth!!! he bought dark & milk chocolate. needless to say i ate them, diet or not!!

Glad to hear your hubby had a wonderful and safe trip. I'm sure you and your entire family are glad to have him home.

it is my mother in laws b-day, so we may make a cake and bring it up to her. We will be celebrating it later on, in a week or 2.

Happy Belated Birthday to your MIL!

Okay, question here.

Does anyone know anything that a 24-25 year old guy might want for a birthday? My brother's birthday is in a week, he'll be turning 25. I have no clue what to buy for him! He's at that age where I'm completely stumped. I already bought him a shirt for work, but honestly, that's not something that anyone is going to be thrilled about. It was easier when we were younger and I could buy him toys or a video game, but now I'm clueless. My mom already got him some Pittsburgh Penguins stuff, so I don't want to do the same.

Anyone?

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you looking at spending. What does he like to do? DH is 26, so I may have some ideas.

When my wife was that age, she wanted jewelry, books, and clothes.

She sounds exactly like me - just throw in purses and shoes too - I'll be set! :)

If you watch NBC Nightly News tonight in about an hour, you might see Mr.'s back. NBC is doing a piece about "Mad Men," so on Friday they shot some footage at the ad agency where Mr. works. If they use the footage they shot in his vicinity, it'll be in the beginning when the reporter introducing the story.

That's so cool! Was he on?

Dinner has been in the crockpot all day: chicken that I seasoned and chicken broth. I am going to de-bone and cut up the chicken for chicken rice soup and also use some for homemade chicken salad. Thanks, Sugar, for the rice idea. I bought Minute Rice and know it will taste so good!!!

You're welcome! You're dinner sounds so good. Hope you enjoyed it!

Unfortunately, this is my final week at my job. I've been searching for another job to flow into immediately after this week, but cannot seem to find anything. I have a bunch of people looking for me, too. Hopefully something comes up this week because there is no way that I can go anymore than a week or two without any income! Anyway, I'm confident that something will come up!

Good luck with the continued job search. I pray that something quick comes your way.

If you can, please keep my brother in your prayers. He has been having stomach trouble off and on for a while now, so he made an appointment with the GI. They can't get him in for a couple of weeks. Everyone in my family tends to have stomach issues, so hopefully it's nothing serious. Thanks!

Prayers for your brother! Please update on how he makes out.
