My older son, who is nearly 8, prefers to spend his time in the book section of the store, rather that the toy or video game sections. He loves to read so much.

A love of reading is so valuable ... it's a great foundation for a love of learning. I have a Kindle, but one of my favorite places in the world is a huge used-book shop in Maryland. We always go there when we visit, and we always wind up shipping a box of books back home!

I have been glued to the TV and internet watching the tracking and the predictions of snow amounts for this impending storm/ Noreaster that is supposed to form as it nears the East coast. Seems for me/ my location, As things stand at this very present moment in time, I'm right on the line from getting anywhere's from 8"-18" of wet heavy snow starting late tonight as rain and then turning all to snow.

I'm holding my breath and not counting my chickens until they hatch, because as you all know, I've been wanting a snow storm all winter long and now hopefully we may, and I emphasize may, finally get one. I'm going to have to get home at a good time today and get the snow blower all ready in the garage and get some gas in the gas can. I got the boys at home today, bringing some extra wood around the house to place it on the front proch, for the fireplace.:playing:

This could possibly be one of those really heavy, wet/ slushy snow events.... I'm all excited, I'm starting to feel like a little kid on Christmas eve right now, but I'm trying real hard not to get my hopes up too soon, because this storm is to hard to tell exactly who's going to get what; 50 miles in either direction could mean the difference in getting all rain vs. getting 24" of snow.... Snow baby snow!:snowball:

If it's wet, heavy snow you're expecting, get yourself plenty of batteries and non-perishable food, too. A power outage while being snowed in is rough if you have no generator.

We may get 6 to 10 inches out of this on Thursday. We've already had our quota ...

I'm interested!! Because my daughter loves to read books (as well as her Kindle) and would would be like a little kid in a candy store there...

Hello everyone. Hope you all are having a great Tuesday.

I am full of energy today, but no motivation. It's been this way the last several days. I want to be out and about, but not doing anything work related, if that makes any sense. Yesterday was about 70 outside, so I had spring fever pretty bad. On top of this I've been working out every morning and that always gives me energy. Makes it hard to sit at a desk!

Anyway, enough griping. The sun is out and God is good. So, I hope you all enjoy your day!

I hope you guys stay safe, warm and off the roads! Please be careful with that ice, snow is one thing, but that ice... ugggh, it's not good; I don't want to see you falling again.

Thanks for thinking of me, xmastidings!!

So far, we have about 4 inches on the ground, And it's coming down pretty steady.

There was a bad accident on the interstate about 20 miles out from us, a semi went off the road =[ That part of the interstate is completely shut down. They're still trying to get to the driver, scary stuff. Hope he's ok..

I sure hope you get your blizzard, my friend!!

Wonder Book and Video. They're in Frederick, Hagerstown, and Gaithersburg. I'm familiar with the Frederick location. They boast over a half million books for sale there.

I am full of energy today, but no motivation.

I should switch with you for a while. I've had motivation, but not much energy lately.

Did you have some snow cream for me???
Come on over. We are now under a winter storm warning with 6-9 inches of snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

This just seems appropriate for today-

Good Tuesday morning mmc! We are under a wind advisory today, should be cloudy and mild..sounds good I guess. We may get a shower or two. Not much to report here except I am having a rather bad case of PCB's I never get them in march usually not even in Feb,but this year has been weird. BTW we go to Utah in 2 weeks..we are going to fly and I am scared to take to babies, but we really have no choice. I hope they don't cry the whole flight!!! We were going to drive but 30 hours in a car with 2 infants I would imagine would be pure hell. But anyways we found a dog sitter who we really trust and who the dogs feel comfy with,so she will stay at our house.. Other than that not much going on. I hear the southeast Mts may get more snow tonight and tomorrow. I love hearing about march snows in the south..so rare nowadays! Have a great day everyone!

With the babies on the plane, I don't know if you use them, but we had pacifiers for them to keep them calm during the ascent to keep their ears from popping. We also had lots of snacks for our older one. The whirring sound of the plane put them to sleep most of the trip. Good luck, it is stressful flying with young ones.

awww, that sucks. If you do a google search on "curing the common cold" it will give you 1,610,000 results to go through. If you read it all it will cure your cold only because it will take that long to read it all.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you.

If I read them all it would take me to my next cold. cheesy

Good Morning MMC!!!!! Well the snow is almost here and there still isn't very much agreement on how much snow we are going to get. Most of the stations are saying 3 to 5 inches but the people I trust the most are saying 5 to 9. So I'm hoping for 3 and preparing for 9. At least if we get 9 inches we will hit our normal winter snowfall total. We just normally get it over about 12 different snowfalls. Not 2 like this year. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry they will get it right when they go outside and measure it with a ruler or yardstick. cheesy

Good morning!
Just walked Molly and Maggie. It's sunny but chilly today. We are watching a storm for Wednesday into Thursday. Still not sure if its going to be rain or all snow, they will know more within the next 24 hours. I'm heading out to the supermarket for a few things after I finish my coffee. Dinner tonight will be chicken cacciatore, yum! Also need to go the DMV with my daughter when she gets home from school, not my favorite place to go.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Just like I told 'Dawg, make sure you have lots of snacks for waiting in line at the DMV. cheesy

Mom threw away the World Books because they are out of date, but I kept the ChildCraft books with me! They are packed up at my house. They do have a book with crafts in it & some party games too. My dad helped me with crafts & we played those party games at my 10th birthday party.

I listened to Christmas music on the way to work today. I need to decorate the house for Easter, but I feel like I can't even tread water with the housework at this point. I'll try not to stress about it & just do what I feel like doing. We are clean, fed, & clothed. Don't need much more than that.

I know what you mean by the treading water, I finally got the rest of my Christmas decorations down a few weeks ago. Easter is like the only major holiday we don't decorate for, we do decorate eggs, but that is about all.

We had got JP a Tabeo (a tablet for kids)for Christmas, it was a piece of um...ahh... junk. We took it back after it died after not even a month of use, we got our money back and upgraded him to a Kindle Fire for only $10 more dollars than what we paid for the Tabeo. He LOVES it he reads on it constantly, loves the apps, and it has great parental controls, it also made me really want a tablet that I just got for myself.
If you ever get to Enfield, CT there is a bookstore in the mall called Bookmark It! (haha get it) All the books in the store are $3 or 2 for $5. The books are new with like a tear or a folded cover, or used gently. I just bought the book Secretariat there.

does your Mom still have to go to work when it's that bad? heck, around here, if we get 1/8" of freezing rain we shut down. lack of experience in those driving conditions along w/ not having the right equipment to clean/scrape it off the roads. of course why go to the expense w/ the road crews when wwe only get it 1x every 2 or 3 years. hope you guys stay safe & warm Made!

sounds like you have a very busy day ahead of you. the chicken cacciatore sounds yummy! not sure what to call it, but I'm making chicken breasts, celery, mushrooms, red potatoes, & carrots baked in italian dressing. good luck @ the DMV, I hate having to go there.

I hope you feel better quick, fast, & in a hurry Xmas! colds are awful.

I better get more info on this storm, I have totally ignored the weather for the last week.

Good Tuesday morning everyone. Looking to forward to the coming snow storm. We are forecast to get 6-9 inches but I am hoping for 2 feet. Snow forecast are difficult in the NC mountains, because of elevations one area can get lots of snow while just a couple of miles away they get very little. When we were looking for a home, I tried to find one that got the most snow. We live on the northwest slope of Stecoah mountain and usually get more snow than most of the surrounding county. We get very little direct sun, only a couple of hours a day this time of the year, so once it snows it stays a while.

We will have to park at the bottom of the mountain and walk up. Like I've said before, I love it but the wife doesn't. Also, there are no snow plows outside the city so we get to enjoy it longer.

I guess you can tell I'm a little excited for the storm. Looking forward to more time of sitting by the fireplace and eating snow cream. We will probably lose power but that is fine too. We will fill one of the bath tubs up with water tonight to use in the toilet, (no power means no well water).

Have a blessed, safe day everyone.
