Christmasstar, congratulations on being asked back to Subway - shows what a great employee you were/are! I hope the hours will work out so that you can do both jobs and not be overtired!

I never thought of it that way, thanks! Yes, my concern is , can I do it? I will at least try and see what happens.

WooHoo!!! We just set a new record high for today at 96 degree's!!!!!

You can keep that heat there, unfortunately, we are supposed to get it tomorrow. I went to work with a jacket on yesterday because it was in the 30's, tomorrow back to the mid 90's. yuck!

It is tart, the best way to have it, imo, is in a strawberry rhubarb pie. The sweetness of the strawberries and the tartness of the rhubarb really accentuate each other very well.

This is what I make:

Rhubarb Dump Cake

4 - 5 Cups rhubarb, cut in chunks
1 Cup sugar
1 3 oz. package gelatin (sugar-free cherry, strawberry, or even orange)
1 yellow cake mix
1 1/4 Cup water
1/2 Cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pan size: 13" by 9", or so. Add evenly in order presented, DO NOT mix! Bake 1 hour.

I've used frozen rhubarb, not fresh. Just thaw and squeeze out some of the moisture. Accidentally opened a sugar-free orange gelatin so I used it - tasted good, but cherry is much better!

Hello MMCers!

How are all of you? Missy and I are fine. I don't recall the last time I posted in this page (sorry!) but since then, I've been working for the Bureau of Unclaimed Property, Missy and I celebrated 1 year of being "mommy and furdaughter", I'm still active in the Transplant Games (headed for Houston next summer!), and in a long-distance relationship with a great guy! :yahoo:

Good to see you, Kimothy! Sounds like a wonderful, full life you are leading!

Good morning, friends!!

Just a quick hello, thinking of you all.

Harlowe seems to be doing better today, thank you all for the thoughts & prayers. Please keep them coming! <3

We had a nice visit with our friends yesterday, but Harlowe didn't know what to make of the big dog that came with them =] He is a very sweet golden retriever, but was a little too rambunctious & frightened her, I think a lot has to do with his size, too. Add not feeling the greatest on top of it, well... we were going to keep him outside, but it was 95 degrees & 100% humidity, so he needed to come in.

All in all, it was a nice day.

I am still catching up here, and will be throughout later this afternoon & evening. Sending lots of hugs to you, Christmas buddies. Take care!

Have a blessed day!!

I'm glad you had a good visit. My prayers continue for both Har and you!!! Take care, my friend! {{{HUGS}}}

The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew was one of my favorites along with The Bobsey Twins! I started reading the Peppers because of a book report Irene Morgan gave when I was in school (4th grade) over 50 years ago!!!

It seems to me that I got a few of the Pepper e-books free on Amazon. There are quite a few Bobbsey Twins books, too. cheesy

I read one of the Bobbsey Twins books that my mom had in a little bookcase. I forget which one, but it was published in the 1940s, so it was "unsanitized." I hear that when they reissued the books later, they were altered to make them politically correct. Mom also had kept one of the Honey Bunch books and a couple of books based on comic strips. I read 'em all!

Have you ever seen the Five Little Peppers movies starring Edith Fellows? They are set in the modern day (the 1940s) and are probably not very true to the books. The little girl who plays Phronsie is a hoot. We were watching one of the movies where the Peppers go to a boarding school and are snubbed by the other students, especially one very snooty girl. This girl was giving Polly a hard time near a pond. We were yelling at the screen, "Push her in, Phronsie!" And she did!

All is well with JP, drs visits are done for the day, I am beat from all the running around I did today. Now I have to figure out what to do for dinner.

I did try the new Starburst Candy corn today, they taste like Starburst, but they have a candy cornish texture. I hate regular candy corn, but these I can eat.

Festive Spirit, your dinner sounds yummy! I hope your hubby can fix your camera!

xmas, I'm glad all went well at your appointment. I pray your cholesterol levels are where they should be!

Seawaters, have a fun and safe trip!

I'm so glad all is well with JP! I don't like candy corn, either. My fall candy weakness is caramel apple suckers - yummy!!!

Good afternoon, MMC!

I hope this finds all of you well!

I'm waiting for some glassware to air dry - delicate stuff I don't want to break. I have a few hours of research ahead of me and then I can relax for the rest of the day! Yay!! It is too hot to do much - I'll probably read and spend time with Palmer until it cools off enough I can check on the cats and Shaggy. I did not get all of the tomatoes done yesterday. The last batch was still cooling at 1 in the morning. I ran out of garlic, too, so I did not make as much sauce as I wanted. It was still a very long day! Tomorrow is a harvest day if the weather is cooler and dry, otherwise I will wait until Thursday. Friday is supposed to be cool, so I might can some more. I need to buy supplies first. The grapes are slowly turning purple - soon I will have to take care of them. The one apple tree is about ready, too. I plan on making applesauce - very versatile in baking and yummy all by itself. There is a pear tree at the end of the road and nobody has picked any of the fruit, so I might pick a bushel or so. It is a gorgeous tree and I hate to see the fruit rot. If I do pick some, I plan on making chutney and some pear sauce. There has been such a bounty this year - makes me think this winter might be rather miserable.

Off to do my research . . . be MERRY!!!

Good morning all. I hope you all have a great Tuesday. I am in a training class all day today and not looking forward to it! Oh well. I hope y'all have a good one!

Hope the training class goes well, Ryan!!

How are you doing today, Snowflake? How is Harlowe feeling? I've been praying for you guys.

Thanks, sugar. I am well, and Harlowe seems to be having a good day today! Which makes me very happy!! Thank you for the prayers.

xx

I'm eating candy corn now! Love it, but only in the fall.
Glad JP's drs. visit was a good one!

I am going to do tomato juice tonight! I hope you are wrong about a miserable winter!!!!

You know what - my recipe is for a whole cake mix too. I only use a 1/2 box or Jiffy mix if making it in a 9 x 9 pan! Now I'm hungry for dump cake!!

Hey Kimothy, nice to see you!!
Glad you're doing well!!

Good morning!!! Hope you all are doing well! Not much going on at work today. Usually Wednesday is my slowest day of the week....could be a looong week! (at work!) It is already super hot & sticky outside so I'm happy to be in the AC (and wearing my sweatshirt! ) I wore a tank top for our morning walk today - Sept. 10th & still wearing tank tops at 5:30 am! That's unusual!!! We might have ice cream for supper tonight! Hubby won't want anything warm after working outside all day!! And I haven't been to the ice cream store in town alll summer & it's about to close for the year! EEK!!!!

Make it a great day!

Ice cream for dinner?! YES, PLEASE!!! :)

Welcome back! Sounds like things are going well for you! Glad to hear it! Don't be a stranger!! It's getting to be our favorite time of the year!!!!

Continuing to pray for Harlowe! I'm glad to hear you had a good day with your friends!!! You have a blessed day too!!

Thanks, girl!

I am sitting here with a cup of Pumpkin Spice coffee that I just brewed in the Keurig. We have the whole house fan on, so it feels cool in here, even fall-like!!! I have some of my packing done (will only be gone for a day) and will try to get finished reading the posts! We are going to Yreka for an Elks meeting and dinner. We will meet friends for breakfast at Hungry George's tomorrow morning before heading for home. TTYL

Yum! Have a safe trip, and enjoy the time with your friends!!

I will. Just sign a few checks first because I received my Terry's Village catalog in the mail last week!

Evening everyone! I am just making dinner so popping in quickly. I am making vegetarian sausages, butternut sqaush/Potatoe mash, yorkshire puddings and vegetables.

Sounds delicious!!

Looking forward to getting a little time out after the kids go to bed. My youngest has been so cranky of late and on top of him waking up at 3am every morning it's been a little tough.

Hope you have some time for yourself, and that you can relax and do something fun. Thinking of you!

xx

The screen of my digital camera has been smashed, I think it might of been the baby playing with it. I don't know when it happened. Anyway DH ordered a new screen and it came today . He is hoping that he can replace it . I hope that is the only problem with it and it works! Fingers crossed. It was a christmas gift from DH a couple years ago.

I hope you all are having a good day. Back to making dinner and bath time for the children. DH won't be home from work till late.

:playing:

I love picking all the fruit this time of the year, the apple farm down the road will be opening soon and I want to get there right away before the popular varieties are gone. There is a pear tree out int he country close to here loaded with pears that we are going to pick next weekend.
