Sunday has dawned overcast and muggy. Started raining at 9 am as soon as I said I was going to mow the lawn today..

I'm teaching band camp (@Iteachpercussion I've thought of you while talking with our drum tech!) and LOVING it, but also still doing my two other jobs on top of it, so I'm pretty busy from morning to evening and barely have enough time for myself and the husband-gotta prioritize!Things are set supposedly to cool off here for a bit and HOPEFULLY not get as hot as it has been again. I am SO ready for fall weather. I can't believe next week we'll get into the ber's! Hope everyone is well and that things are going smoothly for you as we prepare to descend into fall soon!

Ingredients:
Pastry for a double crust pie
6 Large Granny Smith Apples peeled and cored
1/2 Cup butter
3/4 Cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 Cups water
2 Cups white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees & butter a 9x13 pan
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry into a large rectangle, about 24 by 16 inches. Cut into 6 square pieces. Place an apple on each pastry square with the cored opening facing upward. Cut butter into 8 pieces. Place 1 piece of butter in the opening of each apple; reserve remaining butter for sauce. Divide brown sugar between apples, poking some inside each cored opening and the rest around the base of each apple. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples.
3. With slightly wet fingertips, bring one corner of pastry square up to the top of the apple, then bring the opposite corner to the top and press together. Bring up the two remaining corners, and seal. Slightly pinch the dough at the sides to completely seal in the apple. Repeat with the remaining apples. Place them in the prepared pan.
4. In a large saucepan, combine the water, white sugar, vanilla extract and reserved butter (2 pieces). Place over medium heat, and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes, or until sugar is dissolved. Carefully pour over dumplings.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes. Place each apple dumpling in a dessert bowl, and spoon some sauce over the top.
6. Enjoy and don't forget to share...![]()

I think we're going to stay with our family vet. They did say though to bring him in a week from Tuesday to get checked again (free of charge) since he's still taking some pills for his leftover congestion/cough he had.Are you going to use a vet he's been going to? You can see what they recommend for a finicky eater. They could just tell you that it may just be a adjustment phase, too.

Our central air and 1 window ac unit running 24/7 is still cheaper than winter heating costs. Its rained pretty much all day but its not fit outside to shutdown ac due to humidity.I hope it rains here soon-it's SO MUGGY. Where is the break in the heat-and our electricity bill from the AC?!![]()

Someone's still showing it? That's great! We don't have that channel, but we have some episodes that we recorded back when CMT channel was running some, plus a few commercially-made DVDs. It's a fun way to spend a Saturday evening!We like to watch Hee Haw on the RFD channel on Sunday evenings. It's still funny stuff, and great music!
Happy Sunday to all. 126 day until the big day. Very exciting. Our Santa Sacks my wife ordered for us came in the mail on Friday, so that was a fun little surprise.
We have new neighbors, who I use to know back when I was in high school. It's crazy how small the world is. His wife is a Christmas Nut like me, and they want to decorate their outdoors like ours, since our homes are a mirror copy of each other. They agreed to go with the old fashion thick painted outdoor lights that I want to use this year. I think the two houses will look amazing. I'm so excited for this.
As of yesterday, I played my 81st round of golf for the season. Shot an 80. My goal again this year is to still be playing after we put up our Christmas tree on November 1st. It's fun combining the two seasons.
