Sounds pretty close to our weather, we are just a tad later- at times starting toward the end of October.
Here's some October snow for you! ;)

Just a question that passed through my mind. Do any of you ever get a little emotional when certain Christmas Carols are played and you listen to them quietly and very intently?

Yes!
One of my favorite parts of Christmas Eve is a group of films that we run then. (I mean actual 16mm films, not videos.) One reel (from the 1950s) is a choir singing various Christmas hymns, with the words shown on the screen. Watching in the dark, I like to meditate on the words and the music as they roll slowly by, and it's a very special time of contemplation for me. We also screen a kinescope (a film recording of a live TV broadcast) of a 1949 program of Christmas music; Earl Wrightson sings "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" with so much feeling that it's very moving. And there are also some recordings that affect me deeply when I listen quietly and intently.

This one, especially:

I guess it's not actually a carol, though. How does a Christmas song become a Christmas carol?

I may be wrong, but in my mind, a carol is either (1) a hymn, or (2) an ancient Christmas song (e.g., "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"). A Christmas song is a pop song. But then some fall into the cracks, like "We Three Kings," which was written in the early 20th century but hearkens back to older carols.

Hope you are having a wonderful wedding week!

We have all the major stuff taken care of. Just a few little bits to wrap up, otherwise we are mostly done. Decorating and rehearsal on Friday and I have a 4 day weekend this weekend. Have a great day, Holiday!!

It is. It floods me with so many memories and also makes me think to the future as well.
I always close the season with this song come january.
I like that you do that, nice tradition.

It's also part of one of my favorite scenes in The Family Stone, I bawl every time I watch it.

Time to check the insides of my eyelids for awhile. Great chatting with you all today and some terrific posts. I be back with MMC in the morning. Oh and the movie (okay one of the movies) that gets me at the end is the original Bishop's Wife, when David Niven is beginning his sermon on the "Empty Stocking".
I always thought that would be a good one to finish.Empty Stocking Insert.jpg
Goodnight all.

Well, it's not really a carol but the song Same Old Lang Syne makes me sad. It's not the lyrics, either. I've never liked that song and my dad hated it! We used to make jokes about it any time it was heard and talked about how cheesy it is (in our opinions). Long story short, now that he's gone I can't hear it without thinking of him and it makes me a bit sad. But, it reminds me of him so I now listen to it, even though I don't like it. ;) Kind of strange!

Goodnight all.
Beautiful CGY
Have a good evening.

Good evening,

Well the stress that has consumed me for the last 2 months is over, if you remember I had said a while back I had a major announcement to make. The time is now.
We have finally booked our family trip to Disney World!
I have spent hours upon hours going over every little detail of this trip for nearly 3 months now. I wasn't doing it only for the 4 of us, but my in laws too. Making sure I had everything lined up for 8 people. There are a few more loose ends to tie up, tickets to Universal and rental car, but basically it is just a matter of a few clicks on the computer now. It is such a huge relief to finally have this done. I honestly never thought it was going to be as stressful as it was.
I hope you all had a great day

Goodnight, everyone

Love, love, love Disney World! PM me if you have any questions. We took DD for her first trip in 2010 & we go back every two to three years. It was to be a "once in a lifetime" trip, but DH was hooked before the vacation was over and promised to take us back again!

That's wonderful!! I hope everything falls into place & you have a perfect wedding day! Are you taking any kind of honeymoon at a later date? Just curious - my nephew got married in August & they aren't honeymooning until January. Seems like more people are doing that.
