Christmas Countdown - 2016

GOOD MORNING MMC !!

not into work until noon today and then only a 4 hour shift. So this morning I am going to work on my gingerbread house. LittleCS has hers already baked and ready to decorate, so I am a tad behind.
My sourdough bread did not rise last night, I think it was to chilly in the kitchen. This is only the second time since I started making it a year ago this has happened. nothing to d but throw it out and start over.

Well, need to make some breakfast and then get going on that gingerbread.

I had that happen with some sourdough rolls awhile ago.My starter is going on 8 yrs old now. Its hard to gauge the first rise due to temp..lol..I will make it at 8 pm then check the rise twice during the night. Once I was baking bread at 4 a.m...ughh

Good Morning!
Tomorrow is Thursday and by now, we all know what that means!

Days to Thanksgiving Day: 1 (TOMORROW!!)
Days to Christmas Day: 32 (One month from the day after tomorrow!)
(Wow! The heart of the holiday season is really closing in on us!)


Steadily, the temperature readings move upward as we reach the doorstep of Thanksgiving. Tomorrow, the high should be in the upper 60's.
(That will certainly make for a nice Turkey Day!)
Right now, we are starting off at a chilly 33 degrees here, but it should warm up fairly quickly.

Carl is sending out invitations to one and all to visit the 'Pines this evening for a sumptuous pre-Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.
The decorations are terrific as always and set the usual festive mood in keeping with the occasion.
Our friendly activities director even says there will be new pumpkin pie recipe this year. (Oh, great. First it was coffee, now it's an experimental pumpkin pie!)
But not to worry. I'm sure everyone will have their usual great time!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve MMC! Well here we go it's just about time to really kick off the holidays. Everyone got their turkeys ready? I'll be leaving around noon today. It really is one of if not my favorite work day of the year. We never really leave early and then to have 4 days off after it ahead is nice. Looking forward to lots of food, football, fun, family, Christmas shopping, hanging out, relaxing, games, oh man all the great stuff to kick off the holiday season. Have a great one everyone!

Good morning MMC! Merry Thanksgiving Eve!!! (Can you believe it???) So looking forward to 4 days off work, though they will be BUSY!
I got quite a bit of prep done last night for tomorrow. I went to the store...forgot to pick up iceberg lettuce!! I picked up the romaine, forgot the iceberg. Thankfully my friend was heading to the store, so she picked one up for me & she & her 2 girls delivered on their way home! What a deal! What would we do w/o friends?!

Happy Tuesday! I just got back from seeing my Dad at the hospital and he is still bleeding but his levels are remaining the same so he did not need a transfusion. Still no idea when he is getting out but at least he is not in any pain. Tonight we have my daughter's soccer banquet. I cannot believe Thanksgiving is only 2 days away! Hope you are all having a great day and will check in later!

Good Morning, MMC!! Its going to be a rainy cold day here in central Indy. That's okay though, I'll be in the kitchen most of the day. My goal is to have everything but the sweet potatoes and Mac and cheese mixed up and ready to go in the oven tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy the parade instead of being stuck in the kitchen all morning. I hope everyone has a great Pines Day and Thanksgiving Eve!!

Hope everyone is having a great Holiday week so far. I subbed today for my former kindergarten teacher. Tonight I am just relaxing. Carolina and I baked some cookies earlier. I work tomorrow am and it looks like I will be setting up our black Friday sales displays. We are also open Thursday. I open Thursday as well and I know I will have people lined up before it is time to open

Merry Wednesday!

Although I didn't get much sleep, I am feeling much, much better ~ yay! So much to do today in prep for work tomorrow. There won't be that many people in the store during the morning, so I should be able to do displays and clean before the rush arrives. Should be fun!
Weather today is a mixed bag of rain/snow. There could be up to an inch and half of accumulation, but it looks like whatever sticks won't be around long because of the rain. Hope to get out and enjoy any snow that falls!

Happy Thanksgiving eve all!!! We are finally at the moment when the rest of the world becomes as enthused and obsessed as us for that magical holiday Christmas!! I can now jam out to my holiday hits without those awkward glances I get in July and safely watch Silent Night, Deadly Night without being told it's not Christmas!! Amazing!!
