1st day back is the key...once you realize "this ain't so bad" you'll be good.

That's a good point. It seems so dreary having to leave your holiday haven for the hustle and bustle of work life, but then you do realize it's not so bad.

Just gotta watch those Christmas slips of the tongue right now so you don't get the side eye from your co-workers.

Good evening everyone! My husband went back to work today, we're all trying to get back in to the swing of things. Typical day for me, I ran a few errands and worked on some chores around the house. I made a pot of Italian Wedding Soup for dinner & picked up a Sicilian pizza to go with it. I stopped at another Hallmark store today, third one I've been to in the past week. I've picked up a bunch of Keepsake ornaments at half off. Can't wait to hang them on the tree next year! I hope everyone is well and had a Happy Monday. Thoughts and prayers for all. Goodnight everyone!

Hello everyone! I enjoy reading all the comments here so much and I need to post more! I always text family and friends a Christmas countdown throughout the year and boy did I get some mean responses when I sent the text for the countdown this past weekend! I can't help it; I love this season and think/plan for it all year through! That is why I love this forum; I can be myself! I took down most of the decorations today and all of the trees. Still have a few more things to pack but I wore myself out so I will save it for tomorrow! My mom has told me all my life that everyone should leave a little bit of Christmas out all year so I have a big glass globe as a centerpiece on my table and it is filled with really pretty ornaments. It stays out all year. I get comments about it as people see it all year but I don't care! It is a reminder that Christmas is on it's way no matter what time of the year it is!

So sorry NMC-thoughts for family and friends.
Thank you DYHWIH! They are appreciated immensely

Oh my goodness! How tragic! Thinking of you and keeping you all in my prayers!
Thank you! We are all heartbroken. Trying to stay cheerful in front of Carolina is hard because they were like best friends

Christmas.com daysn I was there when this started

Good Tuesday morning! First day back at work yesterday turned out to be crazy busy. Barely any customers in the morning and then you thought it was Christmas again in the afternoon it was so crowded. Most people are going back to work today, so this should be a more normal day. They are once again predicting freezing rain (sigh). I hate all those ups in the temperatures in the Wintertime. Hope everyone will have a great day!

I hope you're right!
I will really miss not having days off to look forward to. This time of year, we sometimes work on holidays (MLK Day, Presidents Day). We'll see what happens!
Yeah I don't have those days off where I work so basically our next "holiday" is Memorial Day lol which is forever from now. But luckily I have a bunch of vacation days I can use here and there to make several 3 day weekends before that gets here.

Right and that work helps you save up for 2017 Christmas gifts! I'm going to bring up Christmas vacation 2017 to my coworkers today...I think they're getting addicted to having off around the holidays too. When I started where I am they used to work while I took days off. Now they shut the department down a few days and take other days too.

Morning MMC! Back to work today and back to reality. Well reality ain't so bad. I like my job and my coworkers. And I look at today as the start on the road back to all those amazing holiday vacations (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years). Sure they may seem eons away but part of the fun is thinking about it all year long. MMC makes Christmas more fun and the whole build to it all year long. It's exciting. I feel good about it and I'm just trying to have a good 1st work day of the year. Looks like we will see some rain today as we did yesterday as well.
Have a great day today!

Will be raining here today to. We have a small creek advisory flooding out. Time to get the CIJ party started!!

Good Morning, January Christmas Seekers.

Well, it may be January - as far away from Christmas as we can get - but we are actually pretty darn close to our first Milestone Marker of 2017!
More about that in a moment.

First, there is this:
Days to the Season: 314
Days to Christmas Day: 356

And I would say just TWO WEEKS from TODAY is pretty darn close indeed.
That is just how far we are away from the 300 DAY SEASON Window, after which we will be starting the first of the 200's count numbers!
(How can it be so exciting so soon??)

Chilly, damp weather continues but it's still not too bad for January.
Today should see some more rain but dry weather is then predicted for the balance of this first week of 2017.
Currently, we are getting up to 48 degrees here in central North Carolina and it is very overcast and somber after precipitation overnight.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Everyone!

Thxs Crown and always good news from you!!

Hello, and what a great forum this is! I had no idea such a place existed with so many like minded Xmas junkies. lol I've really enjoyed reading the posts and relating to so much of what's been said. It's made the transition back to normalcy a little more bearable. Thanks for all the great posts and look forward to the site.
Welcome to MMC, Sydney!! Sorry I wasn't here to welcome you yesterday. This place is AWESOME!!

Pimento cheese on burgers? OH MY GOSH.....please tell me more! That sounds phenomenal.
It really is! This time we pattied out burgers and stuffed them with pimento cheese before grilling them, but my first experience was at a chain restaurant called Fatz. They would top a burger with pimento cheese and a fried green tomato. Whew!

Hey, sugarmuffin! (If my wife saw me type that, I think I'd be in trouble! LOL)

Everyone I know has gotten used to my year-round love of Christmas. I keep an ornament on the ficus tree in my office, my Polar Express bell is on the table next to my chair at home, and I keep a sprig from each year's Christmas tree on the dash of my truck all year.

Don't worry about what they think! ;)

I remember a guy telling me to come here by the name of bright lights. Is that Jeff Winchester the owner. His name on Christmas.com?
Hey! I don't know what his name was on Christmas.com, but Jeff Westover is the boss around these parts.

We're glad you're here!
