That's us, too. Nancy and I have never really done anything special for Valentine's Day, but since the kids started Kindergarten and giving cards there, we've done the candy and small gifts for them.
We don't usually do much either, but we do use it as a good excuse to go out to eat some years, but with lent starting today...it's not a great year for that!

Oh, yes, I'm aware of several applicants from within the company, so it's just as likely that it will be someone I know. It's just a little too weird. We're a small plant in a small town, and we all know each other. LOL
I bet that is a little awkward! Hope it turns out great! xx

Oh my! I would be freaking out!!!:mad: I can just about imagine you 2 trying to get out of there. :D:p
They do stink - awful! Makes my stomach turn!! I let Lucy out at midnight - I think it was Saturday night and as soon as I opened the door, the smell was overwhelming. YUCK!! Then I was afraid to let her out b/c where is that skunk & how many are there??? One year we had a family of them living under our back yard neighbors shed. Had to call the game warden, who called another guy who came to get them. Blah!
Be careful out there w/ all them skunks!

Hey Holiday, look what I found on-line! Apparently, they are good eating!!!! I don't know about all that. We may have to differ this one to some of the Southern boys out there, if that's true or not....

FRENCH FRIED SKUNK

2 skunks, skinned and cleaned
1 tablespoon salt
water, to cover
2 cups bear fat or 2 cups lard
2 egg yolks, beaten
3 cups milk or 3 cups cream
1 1⁄2 cups flour
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons baking powder

  • Clean and wash the skunks, making sure that the scent glands are removed.
1. Cut up into small serving pieces.
2. Put a soup kettle on the stove and add the meat.
3. Cover with cold water and bring to a boil over high heat.
4. Lower the heat and boil until the meat is tender, about 40 minutes.
5. Remove all the scum that rises to the surface.
6. Make a batter by mixing together the egg yolks, milk, flour, salt and baking powder.
7. Mix it really good until the batter is about like cake batter.
8. Heat the bear fat or lard in a deep fryer to about 360 degrees.
9. Dip the pieces of skunk in the batter and then fry them in the deep fryer until golden brown.
10. Drain well and serve.

Yes, so have we. That brings up another subject; skunks! I have never, ever seen soooo many skunks in my entire life since I moved up here to Connecticut. I'm serious, I mean like there is like a skunk convention up here.

Last summer, we went to the Park called Harkness, it got to dusk, and all of a sudden, there were skunks everywhere. Like 50 of them.... It was like skunks gone wild or something, a skunk convention! I was holding onto Jill's hand and it was like trying to avoid land mines. I was trying to sneak back out of the park without running into one of them and getting sprayed.

And up here, I smell them all the time, especially when the weather starts to get closer to the 50 degree mark. Man them things really do stink; their stench, kinda smells like burnt rubber.
Skunks gone wild at a skunk convention, too funny! You sure know how to paint a picture. This reminds me of walking to take the bus to work one morning, when it was still dark out, and I see what I thought was a kitty cat up ahead and start bending down, extending my hand and making kitty talk and then I got close enough and I realized that it was a skunk. That sure woke me up.

Same here, no real celebrations. But I get Lindt chocolate each year. Christmas and Valentine's Day= Lindt chocolates for me. Lent starting on Valentine's Day is a tough one.

Happy Valentines Day MMC ~
I have an appointment this morning for a follow up stress test. I had to reschedule this appointment twice because I had bronchitis. Hopefully all is well and I won’t have to go for any further testing. I’m stopping at the florist afterward to pick up flowers for my mother, I’m going to see her this afternoon. I will give my husband and the girls their gifts later this evening. Dinner will be raviolis, I found heart shaped ones in Costco!
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

Praying all is well and no further testing is required! {{{HUGS}}}

Enjoy your "heat wave" Ha ha! Happy Valentines Day Meceka!

It was gorgeous out today. Didn't button my coat and didn't wear a hat for the first time in I don't know how long. :)

Thank you, Holiday. Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Reconstituted lemon juice is what I smell most of the time. Wishful thinking on my part?
Too funny the picture you painted with a skunk convention!
