Happy May Friday Eve MMC! We had a nice day on Wednesday but today should be cloudy and cooler. We're going to meet our ex co-worker after work for dinner tonight. We haven't seen her since we met up with her on Labor Day for breakfast. Rolling through a long week here and hope yours is going well. Have a great Friday Eve!

Breakfast sounds nice! Enjoy!

Merry Thursday ~
It’s going to be cloudy and a bit cooler today with a high of 55 degrees. I have an appointment to have blood drawn later this morning. I’m going for a physical next week so they will have the results when I go back. I’m dying for a cup of coffee right now and a bite to eat but I have to fast. Other than that it will be a typical day of errands and chores for me. Dinner will be meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a nice day!!!
xx

Hope you get great results! Have a nice day, HMG!

Hoping to tackle a half day at work today and tomorrow.

Expecting tons of rain and flood warnings in my area - I've been watching the creek and I think I'll be okay; it's the homes down by the lake that is connected to Georgian Bay that will be hit the worst. Sand bags and sand piles have been made available in a few filling spots.

A few communities East and South from here were hit pretty hard and had to declare a state of emergency.

I'm going shopping for a few things and grab some money to make sure I have what I need to hunker down if I must.

The O'cat needs more moist food so I'll get that done too.

I took Gravol last night instead of the sleeping pill the doctor prescribed and it worked somewhat to settle my stomach a bit.

Stay Jolly! -surprise-

Thinking of you! Continued prayers and praying you stay safe!

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

My father-in-law is improving, thankfully. He hasn't really been sleeping since his wife passed away, and he's been kind of forgetful. They've met with two doctors who both agree that, at 83 years old, he simply needs some rest to keep his mind clear. He's been avoiding his sleep apnea machine lately, but he's been told that it's a must. Maybe he won't be too stubborn about it.

Elizabeth left for Orlando with her graduating class for a few days. Maybe they do that so we soon-to-be empty nest parents can start getting used to it.

I don't like it.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Thinking of you, Brad!

Good morning MMC! Today is my last day off. Boo! DH and I are meeting a few of my co-workers at a local restaurant for lunch and then I have my dental procedure at 3:15 this afternoon. Other than that, that's my day. I obviously didn't want to plan anything for this evening.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good luck at the dentist!

Good Thursday morning! It’s beautiful outside though a bit cold. Temperatures will warm up but rain will be moving in. I’m working the afternoon/evening shift and am just relaxing right now with Loki sleeping in my lap.

I went in to work an hour early yesterday as I was training new managers all day and wanted a bit of time to do my own work. I was greeted by our health and safety auditor, so let’s just say that my plans went out the window. We’d been waiting for 3 weeks now, as they told us we’d be amongst the first stores audited, so it was about time. It was stressful but we got a great score and it’s a relief that it’s done. Now to work on improving what wasn’t successful.

Hope everyone will enjoy a great day!

I was on the Health and Safety committee at work for fifteen years before I asked to be replaced. I only had to deal with the Ministry Inspector three times on my own during that time. The hardest time for me was investigating the death of an employee at work. I had to take the Lead on the investigation because they preferred it not be handled by the Facility Manager because it was one of his staff who died.

No fault, in the end, best guess from the doctor was that he had a brain aneurysm that caused his fall from the roof when he was removing the old air conditioning unit.

That was 20 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.
Glad you got a high score with only a few things to correct.

There's a huge flood going on 25 minutes west of here where my aunt and uncle used to have a cottage. It's on one of the reserves. They've been preparing for a week, no evacuations orders yet, but lots of sand bags and preparations are underway.

The creek is still showing 6-8" of the banks so I will be okay.

Thanks for the prayers.

Well ... the doctor sent me home today from work.

He suggested I not be there until the test results are in and also to give my body a rest. Not sure if I'm contagious; I told him I had already been back to work since last Thursday. The only results returned so far was blood work with one reading he didn't like, the others were normal for me.

Last Friday when I said my symptoms seemed to have disappeared after I dropped off the samples, well they returned that night and have continued since with 8-12 trips to the lieu a day. I just didn't want to go on and on about it.

I can understand why I have felt so exhausted by dinner time lately. I don't seem to have any other symptoms so the doctor is going to hook me up with a colonoscopy. Although I am an optimist; I immediately thought about all the problems my mom had and I'm having trouble turning off the worry machine.

Taking a dose of my own medicine ... :brr

trying to keep a merry thought in my head. :lightman

Merry thoughts are not supposed to be trying...

Good point. As Yoda says, "There is no try; only do!"

I will get jolly and I will keep a merry thought in my head! +b

You're welcome - I'll be thinking of them as well!

Good Morning, Post-'Piners!
I hope you had a good time at our inn of choice yesterday evening and enjoyed the entertainment, Carl style. Not to mention those dependably tasty fired twinkies, washed down with the sweetest iced tea this side of heaven.

But onward, and downward, with our count:
Days to the Season: 188
Days to Christmas Day: 230

The HALF WAY marker to the Season?
Well, that's now LESS than a week away, at the 6 day point.
(Wow! The first half of our count really went fast this year, didn't it?)

Another geat day yesterday, which lent itself to lawn mowing and brush trimming, both of whicn I got out of the way before the rain comes, expected by the end of this week.
Today shows a predicted high in the low 80's with only a ten percent chance of precipitation.
Our present temperature reading here is 66 degrees.

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Everybody.
And get all geared up for Weekend Eve tomorrow!
Thanks Crown! I will take a deep fried Ring Ding with a side of Cherry Dr.Pepper.

Thank you Auntie. What a difficult thing it must have been to investigate a death at work. They keep giving me the health and safety conmittee year after year. At one point like yourself, I’ll likely ask for someone else to take over.

Yes, it was; thankfully, I had my super cape on and was able to focus on gathering information rather than the emotions attached to a co-worker who died. When I got through the doors at the end of my work day, my husband was already made aware of the kind of day I was having and had dinner and a hug waiting for me.

Mid-September every year since if not at some point during the year, I recall the events of that day and take a moment to think about the people whose lives Mike touched.

That was four years into my role as co-chair.

Hello Friday; hilli-ho merry chums +a

The rain has stopped briefly, but expected to pick up soon.

Four nearby communities have declared a state of emergency for their floods; we are still on alert in my area.

The creek is running fast, but still below 5" of the embankment.

The city added extra pipes along a stretch of road near the treatment plant and sandbags for homes along the water.

Since the ice has finally dispersed from the lake, a few guys took their boats out. Sure hope they don't wind up needing EMS support.

A few businesses and camp grounds have had a profound impact from the floods and year round homes and cottages at two reserves have water passed their homes to the road.

If I was healthier, I would be assisting them in setting up their sand bags.

All I can do is pray for them.

I was about to buy a cabin with a trailer attached to it (not in an area that is in the flood warning zone), but decided not to invest in it at this time.

Keep a merry thought in your head +g

Good Friday morning! It will be nothing but rain and a risk of thunderstorms this afternoon. Though the skies are grey, I’m looking out the window and seeing much more leaves on trees and all the greenery is making me happy.

I’m also glad to have the day off after a tough day at work when I had major lower back pains. It came out of nowhere and I had so much trouble getting around, it made for a loooooong day. That’s never happened to me, no clue why. It’s a tiny bit sore this morning but manageable. So I’ll be taking it easy today.

Wishing everyone a great day ahead!
