Pumpkin update: The pumpkins are doing pretty good, each container is getting 1 to 2 gallons of water every day and I am adding plant food about every tenth day. I am experimenting on how best to protect the skin of the pumpkins-- I have elevated some on overturned containers, I have put one down into containers with dirt underneath it, and others are hanging from a container or a pallet. I have noticed that new blossoms are only opening after a rainfall, but for this year I think I have all of the fruit the containers can sustain. The largest one is about 10" and the rest are right around baseball and softball sized. I am enjoying the process and hope you do too. View attachment 84361View attachment 84362

Wow. Just wow. They already look like real pumpkins. I finally have two that the plant hasn't dropped. They are only about the size of a lime though so I don't know if they will amount to much. I guess I will be going to the farmers' market for mine this year.

I had to follow up with you on this, cgmcav, because my wife showed me a picture last night where someone did indeed find the Joffrey's Fall blends at a Homegoods yesterday - including the pumpkin! Grrrr...and right after I placed my order too...

Anyway, now that there's a confirmed sighting you should go check for it!
Ooh! Great to know! Thanks!

I am pro for two of three corns, then too sweet. Remember the old mix that had giant candy corns, corn bunches, scarecrows, pumpkins and little brown jugs that tasted like melted brown sugar, do they still make that mix anymore. I thought those tasted just a little bit better.

Good Morning Halloween Friends!

Hope everyone is seeing their local stores beef up on Halloween stuff. I know that is the case here, I'm on my way later this morning out to Jo Ann Fabrics, and will finish my morning errands with a trip into Michaels. The rumor is, that Michaels is fully stocked!

We're only FIVE DAYS now from a pretty important milestone on our Halloween Countdown, and that is the 50 DAYS TO OCTOBER milestone, or as we have taken to calling that particular count, "The Final 50". I am beyond thrilled that we are getting this close now.

Eagle-Eyed Calendar gazers will spot something else though, that isn't reflected in the counts. And that's FRIDAY THE 13TH. It's the only one of 2021, and I have always felt like it is sort of an October / Jack O Lantern Day "Cheat Day". Won't take much imagination to figure out what movie I will watch next Friday, lol.

Have a great day!

Stopped at Michaels' today. Boy, that had nothing out. Left disappointed. Maybe next week.

Some of our haunted houses here are planning on being open for just that day.

Good Morning Halloween friends! Looking at the calendar now we have some great stuff jumping out at us just ahead. 4 days now from the 50 DAY TO OCTOBER milestone, which will arrive on Thursday, to be followed up only by the supremely awesome FRIDAY THE 13TH a day later. And we will be so close to The Bers then, at under three weeks, our heads will spin.

Today we are going to continue our "Fall Hunting" errands, by getting our bushel of corn, and heading out to Jo Ann Fabrics because we did not get there yesterday.

If you followed my post yesterday evening from The Bers, I am certainly experiencing a feeling that there is magic in the air now, as I can feel and see all around me, the coming signs of Fall!

Have a great day!

Alright, let's continue this debate from the Daily Holiday Hangout thread since this seems like the appropriate place to discuss:

Are you pro Candy Corn or anti Candy Corn?

Since I'm riding the fence on this one, I'll be an impartial judge, so prepare your best arguments and politely debate.

Begin!
The voting nay be closed on this debate, but since I started it over in the Holiday Hangout it's only fair that I check in here with the same cogent argument I made there: to wit:

Candy corn is awful and stinko, and it should all be put into a rocket and shot off into deep space.

I appear to be in a distinct minority in this thread, however, so I'll stand tall while the rest of you pelt me with mud balls and wads of wet newspaper.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! As I mentioned Saturday evening, our local Mall now is seeing all of their stores beefing up for Fall / Halloween. There was definite magic in the air.

Michaels' didn't disappoint, and neither did Jo Ann Fabrics with all of their Halloween stuff. It still blows me away now that we are that close. The summer felt like it went by fast. I know it is still technically summer presently, but there is no denying that we are on the back side of it now.

We've got a treat coming up at the end of this week, FRIDAY THE 13TH. A treat day, IMO for all Halloween and Fall lovers. Our friend Jason is going to set the tone for that day. Do you know him?

Have a great day, friends!

The voting is NOT closed, friend! We will keep riding this train until everyone has had their say!

Unfortunately, you do seem to be correct: I have tallied, I believe, 6 "pro" votes and only one "anti" vote (yours) so far.

In honor of this turnout, we'll have a special candy corn themed "Seasonal Candy of the Week" tomorrow.
