DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 19

Good Morning Halloween Friends! I'm BACK.

Baby was born yesterday a 1:19 PM - 8 pounds, 13 ounces. Both are doing well, and we hope to be discharged out of the hospital before the weekend!

We really have frost on the pumpkin this morning! 39 degrees out there. But it's getting up to the 70's today, so we will have that gorgeous autumn sun.

Driving around last night, I was really happy to see so many houses decorated for Halloween! Lots of orange and purple lights! I call this "light season" and I am curious if we will see any houses decorated for CHRISTMAS before October is out. I saw a few last year, on the very last couple days of the month.

Have a great day, friends! Keep those Halloween thoughts going!

Congratulations on the new bundle of joy. Glad to hear everyone is doing well and are healthy. The little ones always make the holidays fun.

You have got to be kidding me. :D My daughter was the exact same weight when she was born. If she had been born at the same time then this would have been spooky.

Lest you think I'm joshing with you, here's a picture of the baby scale they weighed her on right after she was born:

Eight pounds and 13 ounces is a great size for a first baby. Glad they are both doing well. I bet you are so proud of Holly!

Congrats to you and your wife!

Morning Halloween Fans! It's another day closer to Halloween and my fun activities. But luckily I haven't done any as of yet. And I'm looking forward to them starting this weekend. Have a great day!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 18

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Yesterday I did something that I have never done before ever. I watched Michael Myers inside the hospital on TV. It was kind of crazy. We don't miss "Spooky Season" and Scary movie "grazing" even when we are in the hospital!

Hard to believe now that in a little less than three weeks, Halloween will be here. All of a sudden, October slowed down. I'm hoping that we all get discharged soon and we can enjoy the back part of this month. Lots of good things ahead still!

Have a great day, friends!

This is a man committed to his craft. Well done, Snake! I feel like if my either of my kids had been born in the Bers that I'd be doing the same thing...maybe not Michael Myers, but I'd definitely be looking for a Harry Potter marathon.

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 17

Good Morning Halloween Friends! And Happy October Friday! I have an update I'd like to share on everyone in my little wee family.

Holly is getting discharged this morning and she is going to move down to the family unit in the NICU with our baby until she gets discharged later today or in the morning.

After baby was born, her blood sugar was a little low, so they kept her in the NICU and kept her on a low dose of dextrose / sugar water until she could stabilize blood sugar on her own. They told me this is very common in babies born to mothers who have Gestational Diabetes or type 2 diabetes. Most babies snap out of it within a few days. They have been weaning her off since birth, and yesterday morning they cut her IV solution off, so she went an entire day being off the sugar water and had normal BS numbers. Last night at midnight they pulled the IV attachment out of her arm and put her in normal baby clothes / onesie.

I am sure we will hear this morning from the doctor about when she can go home. He said yesterday if she was able to be off the IV, their hope would be Friday night or Saturday. But everyone involved in our care think this weekend is a very realistic goal. She had no need for medical intervention on anything else other than the slightly low sugar. So keep me in your thoughts and prayers, friends, I hope we all come home as a family either later today or tomorow!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Wish us luck today as we are supposed to be officially discharged from the hospital this morning. The Doctor in charge makes his rounds between 8 - 8:30, so that's when he would give the order, it just takes the hospital a little bit to do all the paperwork and what not.

We only missed them being discharged at the same time by one day, so I think all in all, IF we get out this morning, we were pretty fortunate time-wise.

I look forward to having the plethora of people visit us, as long as they are gone in time for me to "officially" resume "Grazing" on the couch with my little family and watching Halloween movies!

I might try and watch "Halloween Ends" tonight in the comfort of our home. I could have watched it on Holly's Ipad last night, but I'd rather watch it on TV.

Have a great day friends, and wish us luck!

We are officially discharged! Just waiting for paperwork to come through and we sign out. And then we are out of here. Hoping to be home by lunch time or before!

Today is the Great Pumpkin Egg Hunt and I am trying to be positive but for the third year in a row the weather is not putting October's best foot forward. It rained last night, got down into the 20s overnight and it only supposed to hit a high of 55 today. I have done my best not to get my hopes up because last year I was very disappointed so I am hoping that at least the sun will make an appearance.
