Just returned from Hobby Lobby; all of the Fall stuff seems to be on the shelves in all its glory. I did not come home with anything, but did a lot of looking!
Halloween 2023 Countdown!

I took a few photos last week and saw some fall items trickle in Hobby Lobby as well. I like to pop in every week or so to see what arrived. So glad Autumn is close by.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Tuesday! Monday is in the rear view mirror now so the week has already gotten better as we move along here on our little journey towards July 4th weekend. What a turning point it will be!
We will close out the week by celebrating JOL Day on Friday, the first ever Jack O Lantern day in June!
Rich's comment yesterday about being able to look at the long range forecast soon to be able to see what kind of weather the kids will have for Halloween got me thinking of today's Tuesday Halloween Thought.
"Halloween Weather". We talk about it a lot, maybe not as much as "Bers Weather", but Halloween Weather pops up a lot throughout the year. I remember earlier this year during Spooky Spring, we had a chilly evening, the moon looked "right", and with no leaves on the trees, it felt downright like Halloween. I remember calling my best friend to tell him, and he agreed. It seems like those sort of perfect conditions are sort of rare compared to the "Bers Weather" that we get to enjoy through Spring and the very early part of Summer.
So what is Halloween Weather to you? My perfect Halloween weather is chilly - maybe just in the 50's. A light jacket or sweatshirt is all you need. And a full moon. Perfect would be the day starting off on the warm side, maybe low 70's, and then as we get into the evening and the sun is going down and the chill in the air starts showing up. Have a great day!

Wow! You just described the weather for one of my favorite Halloween memories as a kid. So I think that's the perfect Halloween weather for me also.
Same here. Sadly, it's rare that we get into the 50s by Halloween. It has only happened here a handful of times. 60s is not out of the question, though, and that's nice enough that I'll gladly take it. What I can't stand is when it stays in the high 70s or even low 80s, and you start sweating while you're walking from house to house. Last year was one such year.
My perfect Halloween weather:
No rain, 50 to 60 degree evening you can wear a hoodie and have a fire, Very few leaves left on the trees but very fresh leaves on the ground which give that perfect leave smell right before they start to decay. Clear sky to a few clounds and a full moon. A crecent moon can work too. A couple clouds over the moon can bring a spooky appearance.

It is a nice cool and cloudy day. Currently it is still in the 60s and will only hit the mid 70s today.
As for Halloween weather, I like it a little cooler. The average here is 60 for a high, which means the evening is usually in the 50s. However, it varies a lot. I remember as a kid having many Halloweens when it was in the 40s. However, we have had some in the upper 70s as well. A couple of years ago we had some bad storms come through on Halloween. It always seems like Halloween is a big transition week for this part of Ohio.
But I really like the 50s for Halloween. Still warm enough to be without a coat, but cool enough for a hoodie or jacket.

I may have mentioned this before, but just curious if you all have trick-or-treat (beggar's night) on Halloween every year or not.
So here in Ohio, at least the region I live in, Beggar's night rarely falls on Halloween itself. It happens now and then, but normally they do it on a Thursday night close to Halloween. Now when I lived in Tennessee and Georgia, Beggar's night was always on Halloween. What about where you live?
I really do not like it on other nights than Halloween itself. It is just strange. However, now that Henry is older and does not go trick or treating, and we live outside of town, when Beggar's night is really does not impact us at all.

Ours is in Halloween night unless Halloween falls on a Sunday and then they do it on Saturday. There was a bill in our legislature this past year to make it the Saturday before Halloween, but it didn't pass.
Code Orange Alert - I am seeing posts on reddit that there are some Halloween items starting to arrive at Costco! We will be heading there this weekend so hopefully I get to see it in person!
Sign me up for weather like this, but just to show how flexible I am, like @Irish75, I will also accept a crescent moon!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Wednesday! I've mentioned it in here before, but I really like how Wednesdays feel. There's some weekend energy that starts rolling in late this afternoon. I can always feel it when it arrives, and it makes me smile.
I'm really enjoying seeing all the posts on reddit and even on some of my FB groups of "Code Orange" sightings pretty much all over the place now. Costco, At Home, Home Goods, even Dollar General are all starting to put out Halloween items. We're probably about a month away from seeing the first little bits of Halloween candy trickle in / arrive. It was early August last year when I found the first Halloween candy at Martins Grocery Store. I'm hoping for the same thing again this year!
It's nearly month end now, so it's time for our June review. Aside from seeing TWO MORE counts move out of triple digits and down into double digits, June brought us the Summer Solstice, and for most people officially started the "Summer Sweatfest". We also reached the wonderful halfway to Christmas / Leon Day milestone. And June for most people started "Code Orange" Halloween merchandise sightings. Lastly, June this year will be home to the first ever Jack O Lantern Day in June. These "happenings" should only increase as we enter July, which we will talk about tomorrow when we do our July preview.
