Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Sunday to you! Day #2 of my 3 day weekend, and Happy Father's Day! Our next celebration day will be on Wednesday when we celebrate the arrival of the Summer Solstice. Then on Friday we will have a true milestone day as we reach the 100 DAYS TO OCTOBER marker. Time is marching on in these threads.

I saw the Bath & Body Works preview yesterday online, and there's some must-haves for me to add to our Halloween collection. They are saying online that on / around the last week of July is when they will start rolling out Halloween. That fits inline with last year's timeline!

Have a great Father's Day! Try and sneak in some Halloween thoughts!

Hello all!

Finally back from vacation. Salem was GREAT! We did about all of the museums and shops in Salem. About the only thing we did not do is one of the tours. I am generally not too big on the tours, I prefer to do research myself and find things for myself.

The morning we were there and walking around was fairly cool, so it really helped make that Fall feeling. Going to Salem certainly go me excited for Halloween and decorating. We did not really buy anything to use a decoration, but I did get some ideas from things I saw in different stores and such.

If you have not been, and have the chance, I would recommend going to Salem. It is pretty easy to do all of the main things in a day.

I think there's always room for another count. I have no quibbles about adding the Summer Solstice next year as it's one that I personally look forward to each year and would be "silent counting" towards anyway. But never fear: Even if you don't add it here, it will live on in the Offseason Thread as a regular offseason count. That's where I'll collect all of the "homeless counts" next year that don't already live in a thread. Easter is a perfect example.
I like the idea of the "homeless" counts being gathered together in one place.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! A new week is here! We are chasing two big days this week. First on our list is the Summer Solstice which will officially be here on Wednesday. After that, We are looking towards Friday which will be the 100 Days to October milestone. On Saturday we will be down to only ONE count that is still in triple digits. It's been quite the journey so far, and while we are getting close to everything we love, we still have the slog of July. But we can handle it.

The weather here has been amazing so far. It was in our local news that this was the first time in over 20 years that we did not have one day in the Spring that was 90 degrees or higher. Today here will knock on the door, with it getting to 87 degrees, but then the temperatures nose dive beginning tomorrow and stay in the low 70's for the next 10 days with off and on showers towards the end of the week. Thursday is even supposed to be just 67 degrees! Folks it looks like I'm going to be able to cruise into July and stare down the SweatFest and start dreaming about Fall Pre-Season which is now just SIX WEEKS away.

I've had constant feels since yesterday, seeing that preview of the B&BW Halloween 2023. It won't be long now that I can go in the store and enjoy the ambience. Have a great day, friends! Think some Halloween thoughts!

Just look at that DAYS TO OCTOBER count. Ooh-wee, double digits will be here very soon.

Hello Halloween fans!

It is a cool, cloudy, and rainy day here. Really hitting hard with the Fall feeling today, especially since I just got home from football lifting. I will likely be listening to some Halloween music today!

I did forget to mention that when I was in Salem I picked up a cool Halloween 3 t-shirt. It has the original movie poster witch looking face on it. I am a big fan of Halloween 3. I know many people do not like it because it was not a Michael Meyers film, but the premise was interesting and I have always enjoyed it. So when I saw the shirt I just had to get it. It was in the gift shop of a museum called Orlock's. It was a great wax museum with lot of famous monster movie characters in it. What was really neat was that it had several different figures from different movies. For instance, there was not just one Dracula, but instead the John Carradine, Christopher Lee, and Bella Lugosi. Unfortunately you are not allowed to take pictures in that museum.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Tuesday to you! A short week, I hope, from having the day off yesterday.

I was able to get to Bath & Body Works yesterday. The summer scents / items are now on sale and they are in the process of getting their Fall stuff going. I found a few things already in the store that is for Fall 2023. Two wallflower scents, "Flannel", and "Crisp Morning", as well as a silicone pumpkin decoration that sits on the top of the pocket-sized hand sanitizer containers. I also was able to find Fall decorations, just a few, in Jo Ann Fabrics when I went there yesterday morning. But it sure feels good to see that stuff out!

According to the B&BW preview that was released online a few days ago, July 30th seems to be the date to watch for, for the Fall items being released and the beginning of the Halloween shop going up in there. I remember last year getting advertisements in the mail around the beginning of August that showed more Halloween things "coming soon". Folks, I'm just giddy with excitement right now in thinking how different things will be everywhere in just a few weeks. July 4th is standing right in front of us practically and we know after that, EVERYTHING changes.

Also remember that tomorrow is a BIG day in here - The Summer Solstice is almost like a milestone day. We know that things start changing after tomorrow!

My Tuesday Halloween thought for today piggybacks on the thoughts of July 4th. That's a major turning point for me personally, and really at the point where I feel like we are at "Summer's Last Stand" from July 4th - the start of Fall Pre-Season. I know we still have warm, even sometimes hot weather in August, but being in August just hits different. By the 3rd week of the month this place is ready for Fall / Spooky Season and it feels so good having Fall & Halloween added back to your daily routine!

So my question for you - do you have a specific date where your Fall / Halloween excitement reaches a fever pitch? Is it on / around July 4th like me? Or Maybe earlier / later? Have a great day!

I really try to still focus on summer in August. It just never happens and I am just wishing for the Bers at that point. My fall excitement begins on August 1st but It starts to be on my mind more after the 4th of July. My Halloween excitement really peaks after Labor Day weekend but I begin to think about it in August much more.

I'd say mine reaches critical mass the day after July 4th. That's when I begin Halloween Hunting almost every day after work and going from store to store looking for any "Code Orange" sightings. I wouldn't say that I forget about summer entirely, because after all it is still in the 90s/100s here daily through the end of August, and it's kind of hard to immerse yourself in Fall completely with those kinds of temperatures, but I will say that Fall and Halloween are at the forefront of my brain from July 5th onward.

I am usually good on keeping Halloween and Fall thoughts done until the last week of July or so. I am usually enjoying Christmas in July right after the 4th. Once August 1st arrives, I try to keep summer going, but my mind and heart just sprint to Halloween. By August 1 football practice is 5 days a week and we have a scrimmage the end of the first week, so the season is really going. Football is all about Fall to me, so that increases the Fall and Halloween vibe. Also, the second week of August I have a couple of teacher work days, and a couple more the week after that. So really August, though usually hot and humid, marks the start of my Fall. Plus around here we will get a Halloween store or two opening by the middle of August.

Labor Day weekend is often when we put up our inside Halloween decor. Since it is a long weekend for us we have a little more time to get it done. Some years we also get the outside stuff up or at least started.

Well, I am happy to report that my pumpkin plants are doing much better now. Now sure why but it just took several of them a lot of extra days before growing. But now I have 11 pumpkin plants sprouted! This makes me really happy!
How exciting! It will be so much fun to watch them grow as the countdown to Halloween shrinks!

I'm not sure when it happens. But I'm thinking sometime after July 12th.
