Seeing that Freeform schedule makes me wish we still had cable. We “cut the cord” years ago and went exclusively to streaming, but now that streaming services are jacking up their prices and providing less value, it almost makes going back to cable seem like a viable option.
Back in the day of broadcast TV, it felt okay to have commercials because broadcast was free. Now you pay for a streaming service and unless you get an upgrade, you have to watch commercials. It has me scratching my head and going hmmmm.

Hey buddy, if you don't mind me saying so, maybe you and Mrs. Escalation should sit down and look at all of the streaming stuff that you are paying for vs what you are actually using.

We did that about two weeks ago and Holly eliminated about 75$ worth a month of things we weren't even using. I think I pay like 42$ a month now for Sling TV and the only extra thing she has might be Netflix. It was eye opening to us for sure.

Still though, we are down almost 200$ a month from our "peak". We cut the cord in 2019 / 2020 when my DirecTV was approaching nearly $250.00 a month for two TV's. I can't believe we let it get that bad! DirecTV had been steadily raising our rates at that point for the past couple of years. I remember how happy I was to get DirecTV because we finally were able to get rid of Comcast!

I am having a great day and don't want to go off onto a tangent about Direct TV so I am focusing on the joy of knowing that others have broken away from it. I am also concerned with the creeping prices of the streaming services too. In my quest to enjoy the Bers more I am hoping to cut down on after dinner tv time and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible but once the cold weather sets in I know I watch too much television and pay too much to do so.

I finally got rid of our cable about 2 weeks ago. I saved about 150$ finally getting rid of the cable. I just have locals from an antenna and carry 4/5 streaming channels. I also get shudder for September and October. I just wish I would have done it sooner.

Good evening Halloween Fans!

Enjoying some outside time right now. It is a very sunny, Fall feeling evening. A nice breeze blowing and it is very comfortable out.

Unfortunately we are not going to get the Halloween decorations up this evening. My wife has some things to do and we always put decorations up as a family. So, we will do it on Thursday evening after I get home from football practice.

Everyone have a great evening!

I don’t mind you saying so at all. :) In fact, we did exactly that earlier this year. The only streaming services we currently have are Discovery Plus — because my wife loves the cooking shows and the shows from the Magnolia Network — and Disney Plus so we can catch up on all of the Disney classics (and Star Wars and Marvel) before we go on our Disney trip in December. Sometimes I’ll get a free trial of Apple TV+ when there’s something Peanuts-related that I want to watch that I don’t already own on Blu-Ray.

I can’t tell you the number of times, though, that I’ve sat down to watch something and just ended up mindlessly scrolling through a list of shows without ever settling on watching anything at all. It’s almost like I need the choice removed for me or I can’t focus.

My BERS-day dinner party went well. Everyone though the food was delicious and they especially loved the dessert. I got the idea of a lemon blueberry cake from NY Times and made some changes to the recipe. It was a big hit and the guests all got to take home a piece for tomorrow.

I have three large pieces left. I'll keep one and give the other two to my neighbor. Her husband loves my lemon pound cake so I know he'll like this one too.

I'm exhausted so I'm going to my room and watching a WNBA game and a movie.

On Thursday or Friday, my fall decorations will go up.

Happy Labor Day.

The Bers are off to a roaring start here. Har D Har. But seriously, this is the best start to The Bers that I can ever remember!

I saw another house fully decorated for Halloween today. I may have to drive around town and take some pictures.

Glad, your Bers/b-day party went well. Glad you can rest.

DAYS TO JOL DAY: 27
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN SEASON: 13
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 28
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 58

Happy Tuesday, Friends! I'm off work for today, so when I go back to the grind, it will already be Wednesday and another great BERS WEEKEND will almost be coming into view.

We're under two weeks to go now to the official start of Halloween Season. I want to try and keep the October counts out ahead of me as far as possible, but here in the early part of THE BERS, they feel like they are right around the corner.

It's 52 degrees outside, and last night was amazing having the fire outside, especially as the sun was setting and it got cool out. That's the kind of stuff I'm looking forward to as we go farther and farther into The Bers. I also started hauling wood pellets yesterday for our stove, so that always puts me in a Fall mindset.

Have a great day, friends!

Well, Doc and I started streaming about five years ago. Best move we ever made. Lately, I have been thinking about reducing the options we have for streaming. Regular YouTube has so much content you could never watch all of it.

I remember seeing our direct tv bill around 275 and I thought never again....

WEEKS TO OCTOBER: 3
WEEKS TO HALLOWEEN: 8

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's 51 degrees out there right now and it really feels like Fall. I think (and hope) that the hot weather is done for the year. This is the coolest start to September that I can ever remember. I see 70's for as long as the long-range forecast goes. If hot weather were to return now, it would have to be in late September or October, which seems so unlikely. I guess you can never count out The SweatFest, but to imagine it making a comeback later this month or in October seems out of the realm of possibility. I hope I didn't just encourage it.

We are one week out today from the FINAL FIFTY to Halloween. Saturday will begin single digits on our way to the official beginning of Halloween Season!

I hope everyone enjoys their Wednesday!
