A not-so-interesting local government tidbit: all the cities in this county get together to agree on the best day to celebrate Halloween. October 31 is on a Friday this year, which is also HS football night for both the local public and private schools. We discussed it in our city council meeting last night, but there wasn't much agreement. Everyone likes to trick-or-treat on Halloween night, but football's a big deal around here, so it'll increase traffic (especially if it's a playoff game).

Halloween shouldn't be so hard! LOL

Although I have not heard yet, I am guessing our trick r treat will be on Saturday November 1st. I hate it when it is after Halloween. I would rather it be Thursday if they can not do it on Halloween. The reason is they do not have enough police coverage for the game and Halloween.

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are enjoying your week so far. It's a nice Tuesday here. The weather has been fantastic for about 3 weeks now. I keep saying it but I'm just trying to appreciate it as much as I can for when I'm freezing myself off in January lol. Happy Halloween!

Happy Milestone Eve, pumpkin people! Tomorrow will be our very final milestone day in this 2025 Thread, that being the 50 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN milestone. Say it aint so! Sometimes you get excited seeing the milestone days coming up, and even with that going on there's a part of you that just wishes time could stand still. I'm honestly OK most days with thinking that time could just stand still in September and October, but then we would never get to Thanksgiving or Christmas.

It's also now just THREE WEEKS until October!

I hope everyone is enjoying cooler weather where you live. It's 50 degrees outside here right now and we are only getting to 73. It feels like Fall!

Have a great day!

Good evening Halloween Fans!

Sorry for my absence, life has been busy!

However, Saturday we did a little outside Halloween decorating. The Sandworm is up and we have some lights on the bushes. Still more to do and lots to do inside, but it is a start.

There are a handful of houses in the area that are already pretty decorated.
I've only seen two or three in my daily travels.

Exciting Halloween news!

Over the weekend, something surprising happened. We had a vacation planned in October to go visit my wife's cousin and her family in Georgia, and we were going to attend her daughter's birthday party while we were there. The bad news is that she had a work meeting come up at the last minute that derailed her plans for the party and would cause her to push it back by a week. Since I couldn't rearrange my work schedule for October, we called off our Georgia trip and we are now visiting them during Thanksgiving instead (a great thing)!

What does this have to go with Halloween? Well... Since I already had the week off of work in October, we decided to make the most of it and head back to Disney this year for the Halloween party at Magic Kingdom! I spent all weekend in planning mode.
Lucky you.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Milestone Day!

50 days to Halloween.jpg

Today we have reached the very final milestone day of this 2025 Countdown Thread. Each and every year, we count down to our special days in 50 day increments - I have found that the time passes a little "easier" than dealing with one giant slog of a countdown. Also, several of our special times in this thread occur during different parts of the year, so the whole thing works together to keep us moving.

Today is the final day in this 2025 thread that our "Days to Spooky Season" count will be in double digits. It hits single digits tomorrow!

I sure wish today was Friday! Have a great day!

I too love the idea of breaking countdown times into 50-day blocks. So now what? Multiples of Ten sounds right. (40, 30, 20, 10)
[Just realized, these are not very big numbers, and they're going to fly by fast.]

Happy Milestone Day!!!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! TGIF!

We're looking at some VERY skinny weeks counts above. Technically we are under 3 weeks to go until October 1st, but if I put that count to "2", when we got to September 26th, we would be negative. So 2 weeks and 5 days is going to identify as 3 for the time being.

It would seem that Summer might be trying to make a comeback. The next five days all get above 80 degrees, but by Thursday of next week, we fall back down into the 70's again. We knew it was coming. Summer was going to make a "last stand". Thank goodness it is only 80's and not 90's. Fighting the 90's is a whole different animal.

We're taking the small window A/C that we use to help our great room out this weekend. That has always been the plan, as usually every October I give the whole exterior of the house a good washing - windows, siding, etc. That's usually the last thing I do before putting the hoses up each year to get ready for winter. But we might regret that decision if we get another "mini heatwave"!

Have a great day, friends!

When I was young......all those years ago, we did trick or treat the night before Halloween. I'm not sure why because I don't remember anything special on Halloween, but then again, I went to Catholic school and they were superstitious about Halloween. They didn't mind gambling with Bingo every night of the week. Anyway, when I got older, they couldn't keep me away from football games on Friday nights. We also had them on Saturdays so the schedule would work out. Some of the teams we played were over 50 miles away and it snowed in our neck of the woods during football season.

@SolidSnake84, you're running out of numbers, fast.

This is the double edge sword I talk about every year. You're happy to be where you're at but at the same time realizing that time is like an hourglass (and really is that way all year long, it's just easier to notice when we are having fun)

Happy Saturday, Halloween Friends! Today is going to be a screamer at 83 degrees. It will be the hottest day we have had in almost a month. That's not a typo.

My only plans for today are to make the dump and grocery run this morning, then come home later today and build a new raised bed for our back garden area. We're already thinking about next planting season.

Can you believe that tomorrow will mark only ONE WEEK until the official beginning of Spooky Season?

Have a great day, friends!

Good evening Halloween Fans!

While I enjoy coaching football, it really gets in the way of enjoying Halloween season. Just keeps me so busy.

I am hoping to do some more decorating tomorrow; lots still to do!

I haven't watched many Halloween season movies yet either. I know it is only mid-September, but I have lots of movies I want to watch for Halloween.

Happy Sunday, Pumpkin People! You can take a quick look at the counts above and see that we are just ONE WEEK from the official start to Spooky Season. I can't believe I'm even writing that, because in my mind it feels like September just got here!

And the arrival of Spooky Season means that we will again be losing a main count. If you think back to when we started this "new" thread on Halloween night 2024, we started with SEVEN main counts, and gained an eighth when January 1st arrived and we started counting back down to The Bers again. And to think that today we have 4 counts and in a week will be down to just three.

Like Rich said, we're running out of numbers FAST.

Have a great Sunday!
