I absolutely cannot wait to see the flood of Halloween stuff that retailers start displaying right after the 4th. Nothing else stopping it except for maybe back to school season. There will be so much Code Orange next week…

Happy Thursday, Folks! Can you feel it? That's the feeling on standing on the doorstep to a major holiday and another major turning point in our countdown(s).
We are 90 Days from October 1st. That's a hair less than 3 months.
Tomorrow is Independence Day. Also known in these parts as "Summer's Going Away Party". Why do I say that when we have all of July left? Because after tomorrow, two major things will happen in the time left in July. #1 is obviously probably the biggest thing on this site outside of the main Christmas Countdown. And that's the 50 DAY PREVIEW OF THE BERS, which will begin NEXT SUNDAY. That's not a typo. #2 is JOL Day #6. We do one of those every month, what's the big deal?
JOL Day #6 is on July 31st. The very final day/night before the calendar flips to Fall Pre-Season. And that's huge. Everybody knows what happens in August - the arrival of pumpkin spice everything everywhere, big box stores beginning to put out Merchandise from "The Big 3". The return of NFL Football to our screens. And the gradual return of cool nights and cooler days. And that's all stuff that happens BEFORE we get back home to The Bers.
And speaking of The Bers, tomorrow we enter the 50's on that count. Sometimes there are no words.

Good morning Halloween Friends!
I see the 4th of July in the same way; it is the start of the end of summer. Everything you mentioned is so exciting to think about! Being a teacher and a football coach, next week begins my football season for real. July is also when I start thinking about the upcoming school year. So, everything is pushing towards Fall.

When we get home from my brothers on Saturday, we are going to do a few things around the house....and then we are going to Hobby Lobby.

I agree, once July 4th is over, I feel like summer is slipping away, and FAST!
I did not plant any pumpkins this year. We never got around to getting the garden ready in the Spring. So that means I am going to have to buy my pie pumpkins this year for pies and breads.

I planted mine very late this year, so we may have small pumpkins for October. They just sprouted up a few days ago.

Happy Independence Day, folks! It's Friday and the start of a 3 day weekend for most people. I have to take a minute and marvel at the counts this morning, especially our "weeks" count. It's 12 weeks to October, pumpkin people.
I was at Costco yesterday and saw the giant Halloween skeletons and was so happy to see a CODE ORANGE that early in July at Costco. I'm sure my weekend travels to Lowes and some other places might reveal more Halloween.
But the biggest change on the count to me? Seeing that Bers count finally be in the 50's. Because we all know that means that in just 9 days we start the world-famous 50 DAY PREVIEW OF THE BERS. That starts NEXT SUNDAY. In a way, all of this coming week will almost be like the "final countdown" to the 50 day preview. And that is exciting

Happy 4th of July!
Today is all Red, White, and Blue. Mostly a relaxing day and then grilling out and swimming.
After this weekend I expect to see some Code Orange starting to pop up. Usually, I do not see much until the last week of July and the first week of August. But it is just nice to know it is on the way!

I only planted Jack B Littles this year, they have sprouted and I am going to keep it to just one or two vines per whiskey barrel, along with the petunias I planted that I hope will keep the Squash Bugs away. I fractured a bone in my elbow in May so I wasn't up for much more but seeing the leaves sprouting out is making me very happy, I plan on adding tomato cages soon and with this heat, lots of water!!!
Evening Halloween Fans! I hope you are having a great 4th so far. We did a brunch this morning with our "Sunday Group" for something different. Then took Damian to the park. Now having grilled cheese/chips for lunch. And the big BBQ/Fireworks to come. Happy 4th. Happy Halloween!
