Folks, I'll plead guilty to being a Halloween minimalist. Not for me the elaborate decorations beginning the day after Labor Day. For me it's about the day, particularly the night, itself, with some spillage over onto the days immediately before and after. Readers of my Halloween night posts of years past will recall me lightning the pumpkin at sundown and sitting in the darkened front room, drinking hot chocolate and ostensibly waiting for Trick or Treaters, but imaging hearing the spirits abroad in the wind, ushering in The Holidays. An old guy who just can't escape his Celtic roots.

So we're about there. This afternoon is pumpkin carving time (Because that's when you do it.) We've laid in a supply of hot chocolate. I'll see you tomorrow night.

Wow. Tomorrow is Halloween and we will be half way thru the Bers!

I am off tomorrow and I am going to enjoy a spooky night, tonight with carving pumpkins and hopefully catch a Halloween show or movie. Spooky Season has flown by, but I feel we did a lot this year.

Hello Halloween Fans!

It has been a rainy day here, but nice and cool.
Tonight is Beggar's night for everyone in the county. Does not impact me, no trick or treating where I live outside of town.

Tomorrow at school I will step away from my normal US History lesson and talk about the history of Halloween and some of the famous characters associated with the season. It is always a fun time and a nice break from the normal history stuff.

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 1

And then there was One.

Good Morning Pumpkin People! You can see on the counts above that ONE day is all that stands in the way of Halloween 2025.

Confession time - I'm not ready. But time waits for no man. All we can do is make the best of every minute and every day that we get. And that's exactly what I'm going to do with the last 41 hours or so of Halloween season 2025.

I think my task tonight will be to go over the rough draft of the Halloween 2026 thread and make sure that it's ready to roll out late tomorrow night.

The thought of this thread "ending" is a little bittersweet, but the idea of that "new" Thread, and the associated countdowns, milestones, and 2026 JOL Days are kind of exciting. Here at MMC we are truly always counting down to something.

Have a great day!
I am always surprised when we have a "new" thread because by the end of the old one, I am just so attached.

That really sounds fun. I bet your students love it.

I had my first hot chocolate of the season this morning. So good.
