Mmmmmmmmmmmm Hersheys Sundae Pie (from Burger King)

:)

wow didn't know of this one

Are they even open on Thanksgiving? Actually, last year I think we saw a McDonalds open on Thanksgiving.

I gotta wonder how much business they have on Thanksgiving. Probably too much. It seems, and I know this is a limited observation, that families can't stand talking to each other for long periods of time, so right after dinner they head out for shopping and/or a movie. Rather than really talking and catching up on old times and new times, we eat and watch a movie and head our separate ways. I know there are families that are Waltonesque, but not as many as there used to be.

Sorta sad really to see people at a fast food joint on Thanksgiving but I like to think maybe their family is getting together on another day. My mother works in a senior home and she chooses to work part of that day as she enjoys cooking for the old folks.

Wait a MINUTE!!! Wedding??? What wedding? Did I miss a whirlwind romance???? I know I've been sick for 3 days, but I think I would have noticed this mentioned before.
When?
Where?
What should I wear?
Where are you registered???

we are 21 days from the start of the season, 31 days from Thanksgiving, 63 days from Christmas. It is getting so close I can smell it.

Hmmm...I don't know if Burger King is open on Thanksgiving or not. Mom makes so much food, we don't need to go to a resteraunt. :)

Well I assume the business is there for them to be open.
but who would want to go to a fast food resturaunt on thanksgiving. that is pretty sad if you realy think about it. I want to learn how to make a turkey. I want to learn how to make pumpkin pie. pumpkin pie is the best. but I hate pecan pie. I am alergic to nuts. but not almonds. but just thinking of pecan pie just makes me sick. I wouldn't eat it if I wheren't alergic. it looks so sick.

You know it is kind of sad, but last year I got to experience a somewhat abnormal Thanksgiving. I had no family to speak of within 1000 miles, my girlfriend was working (24 hour Walgreens), and I really didn't feel like cooking for just myself. I ended up going to the Jack in the Box up the street and as I recall, got some egg rolls. I can only imagine what you guys must think of that, but I actually kind of liked just being by myself and enjoying my fast food. You'd be surprised how many people do that each and every year either because they're perpetually in a similar situation as I was or they just don't feel the same unity with their family and friends that most of us do. This year I'm back home, though, and I'm preparing the Turkey and maybe a (wow, actually back on topic for the first time in the post!) sweet potato pie or two. I'd make an apple pie, but my mom and sister have that covered.

Slick, I'd like to recommend to you a certain show on the Food Network. If you don't get the Food Network, DVD sets of his show are available at Target pretty cheap. It's called Good Eats with Alton Brown. Not only is his show pretty darn entertaining for a cooking show, but he makes everything really easy for a beginning cook. He's covered a whole plethora of dishes ranging from baked confections to fried chicken. His Thanksgiving show when he goes over Turkey and his side dishes is awesome!

Hey Erv, you ever try sweet potato pie?

yes I have. In fact last Christmas I made sweet potato FUDGE for the first time and was awesome

It's good...unless you don't like sweet taters. That yer fav pie?

No, my favorite's apple. It's just that sweet potato is my designated pie to make in the family. I do really like it, though. The sweet potatoes are so much easier to deal with than pumpkin.

Secret family recipe? I'm supposed to bring a pumpkin pie and a Christmas cheesecake

No secret recipe here. In fact, rarely do I use the same recipe twice. I usually just start by using a basic recipe online and alter it to suit my tastes. This usually results in making at least two pies before I have the one I want to present to the family, which is fine because I'm not real picky about what I eat. 8-)

Speaking of unusual sweet potato recipes, have you ever had sweet potato waffles? They're pretty good for a change of pace.
