Exactly this. My family is shaking up the traditional schedule this year, so I'm a bit anxious about how that will affect things. Maybe I'll enjoy it even more, who knows? That's what I'm hoping for, at least.

My wife's grandmother, who is the matriarch of my wife's side of the family, has said a couple of times already that she thinks this year will be the last "big" family gathering for Thanksgiving. She's in a smaller house now, and some of the extended family have already announced their intention to stay home this year and have their own gathering. Truthfully, it bums me out. I'm not really a people person, but I remember when my wife and I were dating, her side of the family always had these huge gatherings for almost all of the holidays, and I have watched them slowly dwindle over the last 15 years.

I guess it is just time to start something new! New traditions and new gatherings. At least my family and I will have that time together, and that's time well-spent.
That is a great attitude to have and I hope I can embrace it. I know a lot of people don't automatically switch into Christmas mode at 6:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day, and maybe celebrating on the Saturday after will be a fun new tradition.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 25
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 1

Happy Halloween! Obviously, today is a big day. It’s a day that us fans of the spooky side of town love. It’s Halloween. And I know most of us Thanksgiving fans love Halloween. Well Thanksgiving fans here are YOUR countdowns for today: 25 days till Thanksgiving and 1 day till November. Uhh yeah you notice that right? This is the FINAL time we’ll have 2 countdowns in this thread. After today folks it’s all about THE ONE. Tomorrow is our next milestone which is obviously the arrival of November. Our 11 month’s journey back to the best month overall of the entire year will finish and we’ll be in the month that we all wait for. It’s been a heck of an October I have to tell you. But I know all of you, as well as myself, are also ready to smile and greet November and the month of Thanksgiving. That’s what this thread is all about. It’s about the turkey and stuffing. It’s about the parade and football. It’s about just being here and rejoicing in everything we’re thankful for. And one thing I am thankful for on this Halloween is all of you. I think maybe we should start a new tradition where on Thanksgiving week we talk about what we’re thankful for Monday thru Wednesday (Thanksgiving Eve). That 3-day amazing build. I think that’s an idea. Have a great Happy Halloween!

I love Halloween, but I can definitely feel the pull of Thanksgiving today. I have my Thanksgiving linens all ironed and ready to be put out when I take down Halloween and put on Thanksgiving décor on Monday!
Ironing is so much fun when it is for a holiday!

That sounds like a great idea, I know focusing on what is important helps me enjoy the hectic-ness and hub bub at Christmas. It is my favorite week of the year and those 3 days have a lot of anticipation packed into them, a little gratitude would be grounding!

I have my inflatable turkey ready to replace the inflatable Jack-O-Lantern tomorrow. :D

With Halloween subsiding here, TURKEY DAY is now going to be the main thing on everyone's mind. Besides Christmas, of course! I knew I would feel this way at the end of Halloween night. I CANT WAIT FOR THANKSGIVING!!! I'll go ahead and cut the brakes, as I always say. Gobble Gobble!

I think that is the best idea ever. I know one of the keys to happiness is being thankful for what we have not feeling bad for what we don't have. And on a day-to-day basis, I am overwhelmed with how blessed I am and MMC and this thread are two of those blessings.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 24

Happy November Arrives! Today folks you may be feeling as lonely as our countdown does. What? Did I take an “s” off the word countdown? Why yes I did. We have reached our milestone of making it to the 2nd of our 3 destinations in this thread. We have arrived in the month of November. So we have one countdown remaining. And it is that we have 24 days remaining until Thanksgiving. There’s only one more milestone folks before Thanksgiving Day. I know. That’s crazy. But it is 2 weeks from now when we begin the “Home Stretch” to Thanksgiving Day. I can’t believe we’re in November. I seriously remember on December 1 thinking “wow the 11-month journey back to November begins today.” And somehow we have completed it now. Where did it go? I don’t know. But it’s been a fun ride with all of you. And to see only one countdown in this thread (the main one that this thread is really about) is a pretty amazing feeling. This is what it’s all about. It’s about getting to this point. And we’re here. And I’m glad we’re here together. Happy November my Thanksgiving friends. We made it to THE month of turkey, stuffing, and all the things we love the most. That’s why we’re here. Enjoy the first day of it. Have a great November Arrives!

Happy November 1st. Seeing the countdowns melt away is really something, thanks for mentioning it. Christmas Season is here now, to me. Even though it doesn't "officially" start until next week. We knew this since September got here, but there truly is nothing ahead now except good times. Turkey time, Christmas Time, it's all coming QUICK!
