DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 13

Happy Dozen Days Of November! Today folks our countdown continues to fall. It’s down to 13 days until Thanksgiving which is less than 2 weeks from now. I know that’s hard to believe but even harder to believe is that in 3 days from now (on the other side of the weekend) we’ll see our Home Stretch to Thanksgiving milestone arrive. That will really open all of our eyes up won’t it? I know that you’re looking forward to it as much as I am. And I know you’re all excited for what’s to come. I had a SCARY moment yesterday when I started thinking that next week is Thanksgiving week. I don’t know why but we were talking about holiday time off, adding days off we want to take in December from work and for some reason it clicked in my head that next week is Thanksgiving. Fortunately, I realized NO it’s not. Next week is scheduled to be a 5 day week at work. I may drag my feet so much next week. Maybe I won’t let the days end. Is that possible? It’s that time where now or never if you want to take enjoy every moment the best way to do it is take it all in and try to slow down the time. I think that I’m going to go back and read my final thoughts on Thanksgiving that I posted at the end of last year’s thread. Maybe I should post them here next week one day to get us ready for it? Have a great Dozen Days Of November!

Over the years, one of the things I like to do is look back at the memories from all of the threads! Over time, MMC has given us a lot of good memories! I think it would be great to see some reflections from last year's posts!

I have to work again on Thanksgiving week this year, but that's okay. I get Black Friday off, and honestly if there's one good week to be at work, it's Thanksgiving week. I'm sure Wednesday will be both very uneventful and magical.
My favorite work day of the year is Thanksgiving Eve. We leave a little early from work. I love being at work on that day. We bring in breakfast, it's just a fun festive feeling.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 12

Happy November Teens! Today we look at the count above and realize that we’re technically OUT of the teens now in our countdown. We’re down to 12 days until Thanksgiving (that’s a dozen). Uh huh a full dozen though is a good amount still ahead of us in this countdown. Our next milestone will be on Monday. We’ll reach the Home Stretch to Thanksgiving and I know we’ll all be thankful for reaching that important moment. It’s going to be a big one for sure folks. I have a goal to just rest some this weekend and let it last. And then next week? Folks…I want that week to be the slowest week of the year. Yeah I know I should say that about the following week (Thanksgiving Week) but I just want next week to last so long so I can take in the build and the feeling we’ll get all week long. I’m really interested to see how it’s going to feel. But right now I’m focused on simply toady and my weekend ahead. I know all of you are as well. And I know this is a great time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view of the wonderful time of the year that we’re sitting in right now on the calendar. I hope you’re all hanging in there. Have a great November Teens!

Today will be my first taste of what the grocery stores "might" look like on Thanksgiving. For weeks I've been hearing about the supposed gloom and doom at the grocery stores, and we have been holding steady. It must be a regional thing. Today I want to pay specific attention to the spices and stuff. Should be fine! We have our turkey and all of the "big things", so we are fine. Today is getting just odds and ends. I'm ready for the build, and loving how it's been so far!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 11

Happy November Sunday! Today folks we move ahead and look at our countdown which now has fallen to 11 days. That’s double 1’s in case you’re wondering. And our next milestone? It’s tomorrow folks. And it’s the FINAL milestone before Thanksgiving Day. It will begin the official Home Stretch to Thanksgiving. I don’t know what else to say except look for my post after shortly about my closing thoughts on Thanksgiving from last year. I decided to post it now. I think it would be good to read heading into the WEEK before Thanksgiving Week. It might be too late to be posting this next Sunday. I think we need time to really remember and recall how amazing Thanksgiving is. I know we all know what it’s about. But still…it’s not the same. You almost “forget” a little exactly how amazing it is. And that’s why I would like to go back and read what I wrote at the end of Thanksgiving last year. I want to just reread how I felt. I hope you all take a moment to read it and kind of remember now before it’s too late. Now is the time for sure to really set yourself up for the big week by this coming week building towards it and remembering it. All fun and that’s what this thread is about. Have a great November Sunday!

Let us know how it went!
I'm leaning more and more towards thinking it is a regional thing. I visited three stores yesterday, Walmart, Costco, and Martins. I picked up a WHOPPER of a 24.5 pound butterball turkey at Walmart - .98 cents a pound. The store had plenty of stuff, I really didn't even see any bare spots even in the freezer section.

Martins always stays clean and well stocked, I had no issues there whatsoever. And Costco was in great shape on meat, turkeys, and fish! I am not really noticing the apocalypse in prices that the media keeps saying. Our grocery trips still for the past couple of years seem to average between $100 - 125 bucks a week. I think we save a lot of money because almost everything we make is from fresh / raw ingredients. My wife makes a lot of international specialty food, so SOMETIMES we might have to go to the international grocery store for special spices and what not, but it's not very often. I continue to be thankful that the grocery stores are hanging in there. Massive, Massive improvement over last year. I really feel like here, last year the stores got back in good shape by Summer, and by the holidays they were almost near-normal. The stores going back to extended hours seem to be helping too, IMO.

Have a great day!

I really feel the homestretch kicking in now, my extended family celebrates next Sunday, and of course next Monday we will see the best week of the year arrive!

CLOSING THOUGHTS ON THANKSGIVING 2020
A final post here in the Thanksgiving 2020 thread. Its been a heck of a day here. I know some things weren't quite up to par (i.e. the parade) and 1 of the 3 football games (night game) got canceled but overall we still had a parade in the a.m., the Lions and Cowboys in the p.m. and an awesome time on Thanksgiving cooking, laughing and eating. I just want to say this again...Thanksgiving Week to me is the best week overall of the entire year. Nobody will convince me otherwise. And the funny thing as we head into the 2021 Thanksgiving Thread we actually will continue through Thanksgiving Week and into Thanksgiving Weekend. The magic continues as now heads turn towards Christmas shopping, decorations, and more. This is all part of Thanksgiving Week. Thanks to everyone who helped out here in this thread like CW, Rich, SFM, SS, escalation, coach and more. You all helped me keep going all year. I looked forward to posting every morning thanks to you all. For us Thanksgiving 2020 was a fun success. I think this whole season and being in November was tremendous. But it is time to move on to a new thread. And this thread will have a lot of milestones. We will also start (for the first time ever) with 3 countdowns (The Bers will start up with it while this past year it didn't till Jan 1). And we will have "Tom Turkey Days" and also our weekly countdown every Monday to start your week to the best week of the year. I hope you and your families all had a great Thanksgiving and November thus far. And I hope you all have a great Christmas Season. That's the one thing about when Thanksgiving ends...for holiday fans the fun is just beginning. See you all in the new thread...in a few.

Just reread my final thoughts on Thanksgiving 2020...kind of prepping myself for what's to come.
This year is going to be so much better.
