A big tradition in our house is to go to the tree farm the weekend after Thanksgiving and cut down our own tree. The tree is usually up and decorated by Sunday evening with the decorating and trimming coming as soon as possible the following week.
I agree, they complement each other very well. For me, the Christmas season starts on Nov 1st.Happy Tom Turkey Day!
We put our tree up on November 1st along with our other Christmas decorations. I really just want to enjoy them for a longer time, and putting them up after Thanksgiving would only give me a little more than a month before I had to take them back down again.
I know there's a school of thought that putting up Christmas decor should wait until after Thanksgiving, because Thanksgiving should get its due, but I see the two holidays very much as complimentary to each other. Thanksgiving does usher in the Christmas season, after all, and what better backdrop/atmosphere is there for Thanksgiving dinner than Christmas decorations?
It sounds awesome!Happy Tom Turkey Day!

That's why there is no real Thanksgiving Season...a lot of hardcore Halloween Fans want 2 months of it Sept/Oct and Christmas Fans want Nov/Dec!I agree, they complement each other very well. For me, the Christmas season starts on Nov 1st.
Sounds reasonable. That's why there is no real Thanksgiving Season...a lot of hardcore Halloween Fans want 2 months of it Sept/Oct and Christmas Fans want Nov/Dec!
What are the odds of either one of those happening? LOLI don't want spring and summer to fly by but it can most definitely power walk by LOL as long as the Bers stroll by at a very leisurely pace.
I know .. wishful thinking but a girl can dream rightWhat are the odds of either one of those happening? LOL
I am a die hard. November 1st to Thanksgiving Day is Thanksgiving and I won't believe anyone who says it is not (won't fight 'em, but won't believe them.).That's why there is no real Thanksgiving Season...a lot of hardcore Halloween Fans want 2 months of it Sept/Oct and Christmas Fans want Nov/Dec!
Right there with you.We always put our tree up sometime during Thanksgiving weekend. One year we put the tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving, it just felt weird so never did that again. I enjoy my fall decorations for Thanksgiving.
Mid-July to Mid-August is normally humid almost every single day. That's when summer crawls and that's when we have our 50-Day Preview of The Bers!I don't want to rush away Spring, but I am ok with speeding up Summer slightly only because of the Sweat Fest. Last year was very mild! We only had about 4 weeks here where it was truly hot and oppressive. Maybe this year will be the same?
Last night we ate pork chops again up at the in-law's house, it seems like it is becoming our almost weekly tradition. And having everyone around the table sure felt like Thanksgiving. Even driving home last night with the heat sort of backing off and the sun setting, it reminded me of a late September or early October day. It felt so great!
Have a great day!
I'm with ya!I am a die hard. November 1st to Thanksgiving Day is Thanksgiving and I won't believe anyone who says it is not (won't fight 'em, but won't believe them.).
