A big tradition in our house is to go to the tree farm the weekend after Thanksgiving and cut down our own tree. The tree is usually up and decorated by Sunday evening with the decorating and trimming coming as soon as possible the following week.

I really love hearing the different traditions people have about putting up the tree. We always put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving, although that does give less time to enjoy. I used to love cutting our own tree, but about 20 years ago in a cruel twist of fate, I developed an allergy to pine trees so now we do artificial.

We always put our main tree up on black friday. And how exciting, this coming year we have a new tree we bought after Christmas. I can't wait!

We also put a second tree in our family room. And for the first time it will be put up in early November and decorated with more fall color bulbs until Thanksgiving.

There is a lot new tree magic coming up this season.

Happy Tom Turkey Day!

We put our tree up on November 1st along with our other Christmas decorations. I really just want to enjoy them for a longer time, and putting them up after Thanksgiving would only give me a little more than a month before I had to take them back down again.

I know there's a school of thought that putting up Christmas decor should wait until after Thanksgiving, because Thanksgiving should get its due, but I see the two holidays very much as complimentary to each other. Thanksgiving does usher in the Christmas season, after all, and what better backdrop/atmosphere is there for Thanksgiving dinner than Christmas decorations?
I agree, they complement each other very well. For me, the Christmas season starts on Nov 1st.

It sounds awesome!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 244
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 222
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 161

Happy Spring TGIF! Today folks we have 244 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 222 days to go until November (Triple 2’s) and 161 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone won’t happen today, nor this coming weekend nor next work week. It will be the Arrival Of April which will happen on Saturday (next weekend). We move ahead here with 2 full months of our Super Spring now starting today to enjoy still. Funny yesterday I was thinking how in early January I do this whole wanting to hit the brakes already maybe partially trying to hang on to Christmas but also wanting the time to go slow. And now I feel I’m in the same spot…what’s better than early spring? With truly everything we love ahead of us and the winter behind us? I don’t want to rush anything already. Now we are here in our quiet 3-day weekend which we do every week. We love that here. Now if we could have a 3-day weekend from work every week that would be something wouldn’t it? But maybe just being here together is good enough for us. We like hanging out here 7 days a week. And we love talking turkey. And stuffing. And gravy. And well you get the point. This guy on the radio today said he can’t wait for football and wants September. His coworker said hold up you want to rush the entire spring and most of the summer already? Not me. I want to be able to look forward to it. And the longer it takes to get there the more time we have to look forward to it. That’s how I see it. Have a great Spring TGIF!

I don't want to rush away Spring, but I am ok with speeding up Summer slightly only because of the Sweat Fest. Last year was very mild! We only had about 4 weeks here where it was truly hot and oppressive. Maybe this year will be the same?

Last night we ate pork chops again up at the in-law's house, it seems like it is becoming our almost weekly tradition. And having everyone around the table sure felt like Thanksgiving. Even driving home last night with the heat sort of backing off and the sun setting, it reminded me of a late September or early October day. It felt so great!

Have a great day!

Putting up the Christmas tree at my house can vary. Some years (when I am not hosting Thanksgiving) I have put the tree up on the Saturday before Thanksgiving or on Thanksgiving evening. Most years it goes up the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. This past year it didn't go up until the first full week of December because I was not feeling well throughout most of November. I thought putting the tree up late (for me) would make me want to keep it up longer but that wasn't the case. No matter when it goes up it is a wonderful feeling!

Mid-July to Mid-August is normally humid almost every single day. That's when summer crawls and that's when we have our 50-Day Preview of The Bers!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 243
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 221
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 160

Happy Spring Weekend! Today folks we have 243 days left until Thanksgiving, 221 days to go until November, and 160 days remaining until The Bers. Our next milestone will be 1 week from today folks. It will be the beginning of a new month AND a new quarter of the year. Think about that. That will be a huge turning point as we welcome in the Arrival Of April. Yeah. But for now we have a full week of March to go and enjoy. And I plan to do that including baseball season starting next week. We move along in our Super Spring feeling super here. I think most people have been saying how great they feel about it being spring now. Although, today the weather might feel a bit chilly and rainy/raw. But still it beats 25 degrees or snow/ice. Now turkey fans I hope you are all having a great time. And you are enjoying our 3-day weekend here in this thread. We all try to have fun with it every single week and day 2 of the weekend here is hopefully a good one for all of you. Saturday is the sweet spot of the weekend for sure. Turkey fans I hope your week has treated you well and you’re enjoying the early stages of spring. We are in the very early stages of this super season. And that’s why it is the Super Spring. If you are enjoying your weekend also make sure you have a turkey thought at some moment today. And keep it strong all weekend long. Have a great Spring Weekend!
