I'm borrowing Rich's answer and going with "A." Snow would be a welcome sight down here.

The darkness doesn't bother me, but it does make me sleepy. Nothing like a nap on a cold, dark winter day.
Who knew the love of snow was a Southern thing? :p

I'm voting the D-Darkness ticket. In fact the earlier darkness in the evening doesn't bother me at all. I AM kind of bugged, though, by the morning darkness. We get up at six, and in the depths of winter we don't see daylight for two more hours. I'm not going out in it, but it's sub-optimal.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 315
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 288
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 227

Happy January Cold! Today folks we have 315 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 288 days to go until November, and 227 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be in a week folks. It will be Tom Turkey Day #2. But we move along in our Winter Wonderland with today’s Thanksgiving Thought Thursday (topic #4 of the week)!

This very cold weather makes me think of the one thing I do NOT like about Thanksgiving. What? Calm down. Don’t get mad at me. But there is one thing I don’t like about Thanksgiving. What is it? My saying is that the weather is normally decent (no huge cold weather nor any big snowstorms) from St. Patrick’s Day until Thanksgiving Day. So to me, Thanksgiving Day is the end of the decent weather and the 3.5 to 4 months of cold/bad weather begins. That’s the only thing I don’t like about Thanksgiving.

Well see I found one thing I’m not crazy about when it comes to Thanksgiving. But that is the only thing! Nothing else. Turkey friends concentrate on all the things we LOVE about Thanksgiving today instead. Have a great January Cold!

I was just commenting about the bad weather period in the main Christmas countdown thread. I'm in Northern Virginia and we have had an active start to the winter with the cold temperatures and already two measurable snow events, with a third due to arrive in less than 24 hours from now. It's supposed to be anywhere from 3 to 6 inches, so if we get everything it's calling for, we will have already had between 9 and 10 inches of snow with basically a month or so left of "prime winter" to go. We typically in a "normal" winter here get between 14 and 20 inches of snow, with "bad" years having us between 24 and 30 inches. So yeah, I'd say it's been a busy start so far. At least we don't have to worry about SNOW on Thanksgiving for the most part! Have a great day!

Thanksgiving weather here in Texas can be a toss-up. You never know what you'll get. It could be in the sub-40s or it could be warm enough to wear shorts. The colder Thanksgivings always feel more Bers-y to me.
I've put up outdoor Christmas lights in shorts and a T-shirt quite a few times.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 316
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 289
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 228

Happy 2nd Half Of January! Today folks we have 316 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 289 days left until November and 228 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone will be in over a full week. It will be Tom Turkey Day #2. It will happen in 1 week + 1 day. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with everything looking and feeling like winter out there with our Weekly Wednesday Poll below!

What’s the least bad part about winter?
  • Snow
  • Cold
  • Wind
  • Darkness
  • What a positive poll today huh? Umm you know what I am going to go with D. I think part of it is I got used to the darkness in the latter stages of autumn (when it wasn’t so terribly cold) so I can deal with that at this point. Snow? I don’t need. Cold? It’s the worst. And wind? It makes the cold even worse this time of year. So there is my answer. What about you? Turkey friends enjoy the middle of your week. You are all awesome and thanks being here for our 3rd daily topic this week. Have a great 2nd Half Of January!
D. for me. The long nights can be cozy.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 314
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 287
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 226

Happy Winter TGIF! Today folks we have 314 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 287 days to go until November and 226 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be in less than 1 week when we reach Tom Turkey Day #2. But folks we move along in our Winter Wonderland by looking below at our fifth topic of the week known as Fun Fact Friday!

The average person gains one pound between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Now this surprises me. I would have guessed 3 lbs on average. I know some people say they gain 5-10 lbs over the holidays so to say the average person only gains one seems low to me. I know some people don’t gain weight but still I would think the average was a little higher than that. But yeah then everyone tries to lose those pounds in January except the problem is it’s too darn cold to do anything outside isn’t it? Well turkey friends I do miss our Autumn weather we had for Thanksgiving right about now. But we’ll deal with what we have in our winter time. Someday we’ll be sweating and having the a/c on so let’s not rush anything. Right now we’re in the opposite of the Summer Sweatfest. It truly is a Winter Wonderland these days. Have a great Winter TGIF!

TGIF! I know that I've put on some weight over the holidays, and now I start the slow process of getting it back off with my exercise and running. My first running event of the 2024 season is in two months. I'll be ready!

Snowing here today, they closed the city offices where I work yesterday at 4:30, and today we are supposed to get six inches. I always love the holiday feels that you get on a snow day. Have a great day!
