I wouldn’t worry about overdoing it. I don’t think you can replicate the “feel” of Thanksgiving 100%. There is something about that whole week that is magic in its own right. You could probably get close, maybe even throw on an older parade and chase it with an NFL game rerun, but it still won’t feel like an authentic Thanksgiving.

I think that’s the best part about our “special days” here on MMC. They capture the Feels, but nothing compares to the actual holidays. That’s what makes them special.

True it's hard to really make it feel exactly like Thanksgiving no matter how hard you try!

You know, I remember a few years back when we started doing Halfway to Thanksgiving dinner. It was so awesome that first year, and every year after it was something to look forward to. It really was like having "two" Thanksgivings every year.

Honestly not sure if this year we will get to do it. I believe the halfway dinner would be on the week of 5/27. We might already be in the hospital by then or heading to it within the next few days. So we might have to push our "Halfway" back a few weeks if Holly is still feeling good, etc...

Have a great day!
You need to plan better. LOL

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 265
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 239
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 178

Happy Week Into March! Today folks we move along and see that we have 265 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 239 days left until November, and 178 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with our next milestone arriving in less than 2 weeks when the season of spring officially arrives. We move along on this Fun Fact Friday with our usual fun fact below!

Forty-four years after the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Snoopy made his debut as a balloon in 1968.

Interesting. Why did I think he would have been in it even longer before that? We saw a Christmas play of Charlie Brown a couple of years ago and the actor who played Snoopy was the star. He was great. Anyway, hope you enjoyed that unique fact today. Turkey friends it is indeed Friday. Are you ready for the weekend? Well hopefully you will be soon. But right now, we focus on our Friday and gobbling our way through it with turkey thoughts in our heads and hearts as always. The best to you here this Friday and I wish a good and strong finish to your week. Have a great Week Into March!

I am ready for the weekend. All week long we crawl towards Friday. Friday and the weekends always feel like Holidays. I can't "unfeel" that now, ever since reading it on here. Hoping today goes by smooth and fast. I'm looking forward to the time changing this weekend, and finally having more light in the evenings. But believe me, I will be ready to "Fall Back" after a long and hot Summer! Have a great day!

I am feeling the same way today too!!

Snoopy and Charlie Brown (and the entire Peanuts gang) occupy a special place in my heart. It’s like they are my own personal ambassadors of the holidays, especially the ones that fall within the Bers. And Vince Guaraldi composed nearly flawless scores for the early Peanuts specials that fit their moods. It’s hard to imagine October without hearing “Great Pumpkin Waltz” or Thanksgiving week without “Little Birdie.” And that’s not even covering Christmas…I could probably write a dissertation about that.

With the arrival of March, it’s finally time to take down the Christmas village. I started on Wednesday, and for company while I worked, I streamed the Detroit Thanksgiving parade from 2000, complete with commercials. Kind of like opening a time capsule! But without the Heavenly smell of the turkey in the oven, it just wasn’t enough like Thanksgiving for me.

100%. Every weekend feels like a holiday which is really a cool thing!

The Peanuts gang are the best. I can't imagine a world without them.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 264
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 238
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 177

Happy March Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 264 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 238 days left until November and 177 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with our next milestone arriving when spring arrives. It will be in a dozen days. A dozen make me think of eggs or donuts. We move along into our Quiet Weekend Period Part 1 of 2. I hope everyone had a great week. And I know you’re all excited to start off your weekend in grand style. The gobbling will start and continue all weekend long here in this thread. Then again does the gobbling ever really stop. I don’t think so. I hope you enjoyed the week in this thread and had fun in it as always. And that you will do the same this weekend. No topics or anything but that’s how we like our weekends here more laid-back and quieter. Turkey friends enjoy your Saturday and the next to last weekend of March. Hard to believe that huh? But it’s true. It’s been quite winter, I must say. But really, I’ve enjoyed it for the most part and will continue to do so while we still have it with us technically. I hope everyone has a great day today and enjoys their weekend. Gobble Gobble. Have a bite of turkey for me. Have a great March Weekend!

Everybody remember that tonight we "Spring Forward" ! I am so looking forward to having more light out and warmer days! I'm starting on an outside project today too, we are deciding to build a little "Garden ruin" in the corner of our back yard. I've always thought stuff like that was oddly beautiful, so I'm going to start it today. It will probably take me a few weeks to get everything done. I'll post some pictures here when it is finally done! Have a great Saturday!

My uncle is a big fan of Charlie Brown!
I love seeing Snoopy in the parade. But I don't like the current balloon.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 263
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 237
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 176

Happy Spring Ahead! Today folks we move along and see that we have 263 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 237 days left until November and 176 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with our next milestone arriving when Spring Arrives in 11 days. That will be a big turning point in this thread as we’ll also enter our new section of the year. We’ll talk about that when it gets closer. We move along in our Quiet Weekend Period Part 2. And it feels good to be where we are right now. Mostly a quiet weekend here near home base. It’s been a fun time so far and I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as well. Turkey friends the best to you on this Sunday as we conclude another weekend here later today. But definitely make the most out of your 2nd half of the weekend before getting ready to gear up for a brand new week and a new week of awesome topics in this thread. Hope all is well with everyone and that you enjoy this shortest day of the year by making the most of your time. And the best to you today on this Sunday. Take it easy and have fun with family, friends and people you care to spend your time with. It should be a little milder today which is nice. Have a great Spring Ahead!

Not a cloud in the sky here with temps heading up to 60 degrees. I hope to get outside and pick up some sticks and get some Vitamin D!
