Will you make any make-ahead freezer meals in preparation for Baby #2? My niece and I did a day of freezer meals before her first baby and she said they came in handy in the week or so before the baby came when she didn't feel like cooking! After the baby came they had quite a few meals people brought in and the other freezer meals were put on hold. For Baby #2 we switched and prepped things like pancake bites and energy balls, things that were easy to grab for Baby #1/Toddler to make breakfasts and lunches easier since her husband was always home to help with dinner.

But back to my original point, I think one great way to get a few freezer meals ahead is to make a double batch of your current favorites in the coming weeks and eat one, freeze one. And there are many versions of "Thanksgiving Casseroles" that might be fun to try now and make an extra for your Halfsgiving meal!

We did this last time - My parents live in the house next door, they brought us over things for the first couple of days, my MIL brought us chicken soup from Costco. Holly felt good enough to return to regular cooking activity after being home about 4 days. By that following weekend, things were decidedly "normal" again in the meals department.

We're going to have more or less the same routine this time, maybe a few more days of take out / prepared food in case Holly doesn't have as easy of a time with recovery.

I'm still trying to figure out how we will do a "Halfsgiving / Halfway Thanksgiving" Dinner in May, since it looks like now we might still be home when Halfway to Thanksgiving hits. Holly might not feel like doing a turkey. We might have to settle for one of the other traditional Thanksgiving sides and be there in spirit. Just too early to tell. Have a great Sunday!
You could make a turkey breast (crockpot, smoker or roast in the oven). Another option is if your grocery store makes and sells fresh roasted turkey breast in the deli dept you could get them to slice up a pounds worth but in thicker slices. Place them in a casserole dish, cover with gravy, top with premade stuffing mix and bake.

Good options!

Yum!

Y'all are giving me major feels with all this talk of cooking a Thanksgiving meal.
I LOVE IT!!!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 247
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 221
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 160

Happy Latter March! Today folks we move along and see that we have 247 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 221 days left until November, and 160 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Stress-Free Spring with our next milestone arriving the day after tomorrow (on Thursday). It will be Tom Turkey Day #4. Rich’s favorite. And it will be opening day of baseball (for most teams). These early spring moments remind me very much of early autumn or Bers moments I should say. It’s Tuesday so that means time for our Picture Day friends. Get ready to share all your pictures of Autumn and Thanksgiving that you love the most. We love to see everything you’ve got on Tuesdays so share them with us and keep us in the turkey spirit that we attempt to keep all year long. This time of year, it can start feeling like autumn which is kind of awesome. Love that weather when it gets warmer but not too warm (yet). And when it does warm up later in spring it’ll feel like the early days of autumn which are great too. Turkey friends the best to you here on this Tuesday. Hope your week got off to a great start. And I hope it only gets better starting today and moving forward. Gobble Gobble from me to you. Have a great Latter March!

I was looking at last year's pictures of our fall decorations and now I can't wait to decorate for Thanksgiving. We went straight from Halloween to Christmas the last 3 years for various reasons, but not this year. We WILL decorate the whole house for Thanksgiving in 221 days.

I'm looking forward to Tom Turkey Day! This is a great week for Holiday feels, we sort of begin the week with Rudolph Day (today), then Tom Turkey Day is on Thursday, Spooky Spring kickoff weekend starts on Friday night, then Sunday is Dark Arts Sunday, and Monday is JOL Day! We are running the mini-holiday gauntlet for sure!

A month from now, the 2025 NFL Draft will be taking place. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. I think this is when things start “taking off” as far as our major countdowns and milestones are concerned. Not too long after this, the NFL releases their Thanksgiving Day schedule for the year, followed quickly by the entire schedule release. Then, we’ve got Halfsgiving and the 100 Day Bers milestone. All of that takes place within four weeks of each other. It’s kind of funny how football is inextricably linked to the Bers and even Thanksgiving in such a big way.

(Bonus: This weekend is the start of the UFL, a.k.a. the Spring football league, in case you miss having football on TV.)

Love the draft!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 246
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 220
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 159

Happy Mid-Week Spring! Today folks we move along and see that we have 246 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 220 days left until November and 159 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Stress-Free Spring with our next milestone set to arrive tomorrow. It will be Tom Turkey Day #4. It’s going to be a big one my friends. But right now, it’s Wednesday so you know it’s time for our Weekly Wednesday Poll!

Everyone says the 4th quarter of the year (October through December) is their favorite, I’m sure. But what’s your 2nd favorite quarter?

  • January through March
  • April through June
  • July through September
  • I don’t have any preference for the above 3 choices.
This is easy for me I’m going with C. If you dislike summer, it might be a harder choice for you though when we group in September in the 3rd quarter. Turkey friends the gobbling continues today. Have a great Mid-Week Spring!

They are a tie for me. They each offer something I enjoy.

Jan - March has snow
April - June - days where I can open windows and air out the house and strawberries are in season for picking
July - Sept - fresh fruits and veggies, a good evening thunderstorm and it's the start of the Bers.
