DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 302
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 276
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 215

Happy Mid-Winter Mid-Week! Today folks we move along and see that we have 302 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 276 days left until November and 215 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with our next milestones arriving on Friday and Saturday. They will be the 300-Day Marker till Thanksgiving followed by the Arrival of February. Big time milestones folks later this week. For now, we spend our Wednesday doing our normal thing, which is our Weekly Wednesday Poll below!

With the halftime of winter officially arriving this coming weekend how would you sum up your first half of winter?

  • It’s been long, cold, windy and snowy.
  • It’s been short & mild.
  • It’s been average speed and average weather.
  • What winter? I live in a warm climate.
  • I’m going with A. It’s felt like a long first half of winter, cold, windy and snowy. Maybe snowy less than the others though. Tell us about your winter turkey friends. Gobble Gobble. Have a great Mid-Winter Mid-Week!

Going with "A" for sure. I think this is the coldest January we have had in more than 10 years, and we've also had plenty of wind and snow. I like the snow, but don't like the wind and the brutal cold. Hoping for better weather in February!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 301
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 275
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 214

Happy Next To Last Day Of January! Today folks we move along and see that we have 301 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 275 days left until November, and 214 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with back-to-back milestones approaching my friends. Tomorrow we’ll reach the 300-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. The day after that we’ll reach the Arrival of February. Do I sense a turning point in the year and in this thread? I think that I do. It’s those subtle turns sometimes you have to keep your eyes on and acknowledge. Turkey friends it’s Thursday so it’s time for Thanksgiving Thought Thursday below!

We are approaching the 300-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. That’s exciting. But today is 300 days until my favorite workday of the year Thanksgiving Eve. I know nobody thinks about it outside of this site, but you all know how I feel about it. And it links to Thanksgiving just like Christmas Eve links to Christmas. It deserves the hype we give it. Basically, we have 300 normal days left friends until the world explodes into the holiday season.

We’re in a great spot in late January. Small signs of what’s to come with it being a little lighter out in the early evening and the real brutal relentless cold seems to have calmed down a bit. Have a great Next To Last Day Of January!

Get these 300's out of here!! Time really does move differently when the 300's are gone.

I'm ready to start daydreaming about the next season. And of course I always daydream about our three beloved holidays.

Man, thinking back today - I can't believe November 1st was 90 days ago. And Thanksgiving was 63+ days. Maybe that's not a lot in the context of a whole year being 365 days, but it seems like "last" Thanksgiving was so long ago.

As we get close to February, I am reminded about how that month is when I feel "The Farthest" from everything that I love. PFHB's / PCB's hang around if you're not careful. But usually the nicer/warmer weather replaces most of the "sad" feelings with anticipation.

Have a great day, friends!

It's ok we can hopefully move slowly along so we can get excited the next 300 days!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 300
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 274
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 213

Happy January Finale! Today folks we move along and see that we have 300 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 274 days left until November, and 213 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Winter Wonderland with a milestone today with the 300-Day Marker till Thanksgiving arriving. Yes, believe it or not the 3’s counts go away after today in this thread…FOREVER. Amazing. Equally amazing is the fact my friends that our next milestone arrives tomorrow. It will be the Arrival of February. No more January until next year. Hard to believe that. It’s Fun Fact Friday so let’s look below for this weekly treat!

Before Macy’s held its first now-famous parade in 1924, Gimbels department store in Philadelphia started one of their own in 1920. The parade is now the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade—and considered the oldest in the nation. Store owner Frederic Gimbel lobbied in 1939 to move Thanksgiving back a week to lengthen the Christmas shopping season, even getting the support of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. However, Congress settled the confusion among states celebrating at different times in 1941, when they voted that the holiday be set as the fourth Thursday of November.

Wait, I thought the Macy’s Parade was the original and longest running parade for Thanksgiving? It’s still the most special. Turkey friends Gobble Gobble to you. Have a great January Finale!

Good-bye, 300s! You’ll be missed (but only a little).

I wonder what would’ve happened if Gimbel’s had survived and became as big as Macy’s. Would we have TWO major parades broadcast on Thanksgiving Day? Would they eventually combine them into one giant mega parade? Answers to questions like these are the hard-hitting journalism we need.

We flip back and forth between the Philly's Thanksgiving Day parade and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on Thanksgiving morning.
