Merry Monday MMC ~
It’s going to be cloudy today with a high of 75 degrees. Not too much going on here this morning, I'm just working on some chores around the house. I’m going to look at apartments later this afternoon, my youngest and her fiancé have decided to move in together. My babies are all flying the coop. Not sure how I feel about it. Wish I could turn back the clock!
I hope everyone is well and has a nice day!
xx
Merry Monday, HmG~
Hope that your youngest and her fiancée find a great apartment, and one not too far from you.
Thinking of you, sending hugs <3
Hope you have a wonderful day!
xx

Thank you. it was sad, we felt as though the air was let out of our balloon because we had been waiting on that little kitten for over a month. We had pictures and a video that we were looking at while we were waiting.

I'm sitting here shaking my head at the whole process of trying to adopt a rescue. We filled out the 4 page application, we had 2 of our friends, go thru an interview by rescue for us, they interviewed also our vet and asked about how we are taking care of our other rescues. They then set up a home inspection with us, to see where they will play, eat, drink, sleep, etc...

All of this, and we ended up losing the kitten we so much wanted, because apparently, they go by a first come/ first serve basis for the applications; with, an evaluation of all the applications to that date, to compare them with each other and then they select who they think is best for the rescue.

None of that was explained to us when we first received the application of the night that we held her and fell in love with her.

Please forgive me if I sound off base here, but to us, this whole process seems to be working against the need of adopting a rescue. Our thoughts are that there are so many cats and dogs out there in need of adoption, that could go to good homes and families, to give them a wonderful life, that this kind of in-depth investigation just deters folks from going thru the adoption process completely. I don't know, I may be wrong, but we sure do feel discouraged right about now.

Our first 2 kittens were rescues from (last Chance Rescue) in Maryland. When I went down there to visit my kids, we went to a PetSmart there (they work with Last Chance rescue). Our hearts just went out to both Kittens (Shiloh and Ariel) and we filled out the paperwork and took them home that very same evening from Maryland and drove them up to Connecticut where we spoil and Love them 24/7/365 and have given them a home to where they are safe and well taken care of. We take care of them and they also take care of us....

Isn't that how it is supposed to be?
Very well said! It's such a run around!! Praying the right kitty comes your way soon!

Hello all!
Sorry for my absence from the forums recently, just been busy.

School starts on Tuesday! I had the first full work day today; lots of meetings.

I am finished writing my thesis, I am just finalizing editing now and will submit it this weekend or the coming week. Then it is a waiting game to hear back for any other edits and approval. It is nice to be about done.

Well, everyone have a great day.
Congrats on finishing the thesis!! I hope you have a wonderful school year!!

They sure are, probably closer to you than you would imagine. We adopted them from the same PetSmart in Westminster (Carroll County) about 7 months apart from each other. They are the best of buds.
OMGosh! They look like twins! So cute!! ♥ ♥

Lavender oil? Does that really help you get to sleep and or keep you asleep?

I suffer from time to time, where I cannot sleep more than a little bit at a time. It’s like, I’m so tired, I fall right to sleep, and then 3 hours later, I’m awake, then it’s the in and out game of sleep for the rest of the night. I wake up in the morning feeling so exhausted.

I’ve tried ambian, Xanax, and now I’m getting ready to try another med.
My sister swears by lavender oil (and thieves for a cold) in her diffuser!

I could use some prayers for tomorrow. I have a job interview, which will take me on a slight different path then what I am used to, but it’s still in nursing. I would be all daylight, no weekends, or holidays, which as my kids get older, I want more and more. If they offer me a job, it’s mainly go to depend on pay and benefits, but we’ll see how it goes!

Sugar!!!!! Good to always see ya my friend!

I'm wishing you "Good luck" on your job interview today. I sure hope it all goes well for you and that you get it!

View attachment 47625 View attachment 47624 Well, I have to share this with you all. Today, while I was sitting in my office at my desk, I just happened to glance out my window and what I saw, just blew me away; it was a bear!

I real quick grabbed my phone and went outside and took a couple pictures and a video of it. I was about like 40-50 feet away from it. I watched it for about 10 minutes, before it went back into the woods.

How cool is that!
EEEK!!! You crazy nut!! :p Cool pics though!

My SIL had woken up earlier this week with some abdominal pains and after awhile, the pain kept on getting worse and worse to the pint where she asked my brother to take her to the hospital. At the hospital, they discovered that she had an 7" diameter tumor on her one ovary. They operated on her yesterday (Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore) and removed it successfully and while also she had a hysterectomy while they were there.

The great news, is that it was not cancerous. She is in the hospital recovering, but doing well and is in good spirits.
Oh gosh - praying for a speedy recovery for her!

Well, well, well.
Look at what's about to open at Crabtree Valley Mall!
It's getting toward that time of the year again, folks.

(And if history repeats, a certain other shop will be taking its place in early November!)
How exciting!!! :D

Good Sunday morning, Christmas friends!

We spent the day yesterday moving Jacob to his new place near the college. Nancy held up better than I thought she would. He's moving in with a couple other guys in a house not far from campus. The house isn't all that special, and his room is pretty small, but he is super happy LOL.

Actually, he's been crashing with those guys 4 to 5 nights a week anyway, so it's not like he's suddenly gone. All the same, there was something weird about walking past his bedroom door this morning, knowing he doesn't live here now and probably won't again. Life goes on, eh?

He says he's coming to lunch at Mama's today. We're lucky his school is only 30 minutes away!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

You know what they are starting to call this generation that is starting out on their own right, The Boomerang Generation! So, you just never know because once they get a reality check of how much it costs to move out and to be on their own, to really get a taste of what life is like, in a monetary sense, they're coming back because they cannot afford it.

By the way, mine has been out on their own now, ever since I was going thru the divorce and, to this very day, I still miss them dearly. So, I guess you just never know about things until they happen. I feeling for my friend.

Hi friends,
Enjoyed catching up with you all this weekend, sounds like the cooler weather will be making its way over soon! I've been very sad this weekend... My sisters 17 year old springer passed away this weekend, she was like our second dog we often watched her while they were out of town. Even though she was older she loved chasing Gandalf around, they were best friends. We will miss her so much and I know Gandalf will too. Today i'm defrosting some cookie dough from the freezer and bringing them over warm cookies, flowers, and I made some prints of the dogs playing together. My little nephew who is 5 really misses his pup too.
Oh how sad!!! :( Doesn't matter how old they are, they are family!! (((Hugs)))

Thank you Holiday. They are best of buds, always running thru the house playing chase and playing pounce on the other kitty with each other. When they are not in the same room, they go looking for each other. We were so blessed to of had them adopt us! :)

Good Sunday afternoon, friends!!

Hope you’re all having a nice weekend so far~

Harlowe & I have been having a great time in my hometown, with family.
My cousin‘s baby shower was beautiful yesterday. And as always, lots of laughter ensued!!

Last night, my Dad grilled out and my sister came over to join us. Harlowe and Jazzie enjoyed the time exploring the backyard, and chasing squirrels.

It’s another hot and humid day here, but some rain tomorrow is supposed to bring in a cool down. Fingers crossed.

I am seeing a few trees leaves already changing! While I love that in some ways, I really want a long fall so I am hoping that still happens.

Once we get back home, we plan to spend some time with Adrian and also take a long walk later this evening, once it cools down.

Wishing you all a relaxing rest of your Sunday~

Thank you, we did!! ♥️
Yes, a long fall would be perfect!!
Thank you, friend~ wishing you the same!!

Merry Sunday!

Feeling rather drained today ~ had a headache most of the weekend. It is still there, but not nearly as bad as yesterday! :)

The weather forecast on yesterday had us listed for 90% chance of rain on Tuesday and today it is down to 70%. The last time it was that high, there wasn't enough rain to cover the bottom of a bucket. I'm hoping for an all day soaker ~ we sure do need it!

Have a merry week!
I hope your headache is better!! I was battling a sinus headache (just enough to be annoying) yesterday! I hope you get the all day soaker you are needing!!! xx Have a good day M!
