Labor Day weekend ribs are on the menu. Just placed a emergency order with the butcher shop and they gave me a buy 2 racks get 2 free deal. Looks like it will be a smoking marathon this weekend..lol Now I inform my neighbor on it, so everyone else will get the menu.

Same here. I love being able to sit there with my first cup of coffee of the morning and enjoy the lights and quietness before everyone else wakes up.

You and me both! And it was cloudy yesterday, so it was dark even earlier.
I don't really make my peace with that early-dark situation until the Halloween season!

We still have about 13 and a half of hours of daylight. Talk to me on September's Rudolph Day when we begin having more night than day...

OK. Labor Day looms.
And the Crowns are off to the cottage for the extended weekend and to clean up after another rental season.
I will post the daily count this Friday morning, but then a volunteer (or volunteers) will be needed for Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings (Sept 2-4).

Well the weather is definitely more like fall then end of summer. Had to throw an extra blanket on the bed last night as closing the window was not an option LOL. Loving the cool crisp fresh air in the house. Suppose to climb into the low to mid 80s for a few day this weekend before dropping back down to the low to mid 70s for the highs. Kids have 1 week of summer vacation left before starting school and they are less happy about it each day LOL.

I have been slowing working on cleaning and re-arranging my kitchen cabinets this week. Making a master list of what I need to shop for and stock up on before the BER Holidays arrive. I think during the next month I am going to make some freezer meals to get us through those busy days/nights that are quickly approaching. Trying to get as prepared as possible for the holidays before they get here so I can enjoy them more.

Honeycrisp are my favorite too! They spoiled me ~ besides Fuji they are the only kind I will buy for eating plain!

I am a real apple fanatic, I eat an apple almost every day. Right now I'm on an Ida Red "kick" but I'll eat any type of sweeter apples, like Cortland or Gala or Honeycrisp. Waiting for apple season to begin.

When I lived in Jaxs, I95 was a cutoff line. East of 95 was all a vinegar based wet sauce, West of 95 was dry rub with a dipping sauce. Back in the day there used to be bbq and shrimp shacks everywhere. Some of the best ribs and brisket I ever put in my mouth come out of these roadside shacks. But like everything, the Feds poked their noses into these fine establishments and they all had to shutdown.My favorite place to hit up on a Saturday afternoon had the absolute best brisket anywhere and shrimp Po boys.

Well guys, it's with very heavy heart I report in this morning that we had to say goodbye to our sweet Gracie yesterday! Everything was shutting down - she was a sick girl! No more suffering for my baby! What an awful, horrible day! As hard as it was, we knew we were doing the right thing! My poor sweet girl. She was dealt a raw deal! She's forever in our hearts!

My heart breaks for you, Holiday. It's always hard to let them go and not be selfish. But that would result in them suffering and that would hurt worse than losing them. As tough of a decision as it was to make, it was the right one so she didn't suffer any more. Still hurts all the same though. Thoughts and prayers to you.
