Hello all!

It seems our water heater has stopped leaking for the time being, thank goodness! The county has also almost completely repaired the power lines that were down behind my parents' house, so almost that entire town is with power again! Seemingly good news all around!!

Sunday night I watched a Halloween/Christmas flick.

You know the one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuWD-mSUtrU

Good thing too because our TV just died this morning. Seriously no trouble at all and then this morning the tube started to go and then came back to life and went again.

No worries, we'll grab a new one this weekend. We have an old 12" tv hooked up for now, but it wasn't converted and we can only get one channel and it's all news so at least we can keep up with storm updates and such.

So, is the Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween flick or a Christmas flick? I say CHRISTMAS. Funny thing is I just picked it up two years ago and I discovered a few tunes quickly got stuck in my head.

So sorry to hear about your tv, Auntie! As for TNBC, I have always thought it to be a little of both a Christmas and Halloween movie, although I didn't watch it yesterday. I will make sure to watch it twice around Christmas to make up for this!

Hey everyone. Just stop by real quick. I've got one sick little girl. Her temp has up and down all day. Temp around 6 was 103.3 F. It was back down, but she was having the chills again.

Hope this doesn't last too long for her. She is miserable. Off to take care of her. Talk to you guys tomorrow!

I hope she feels better, sugar!!

Good evening, Christmas family

Just getting ready to call it a day. I NEVER EVER thought I would go to bed this early, but when you are tired and done working it is probably the best thing to do.

Hermione is doing well. She got her first dose of antbiotics and second dose of anti-anxiety medication. It has already helped her a LOT. Poor sweet girl, she has always been very anxious !! Dont let anyone tell you Bloodhounds are LAID BACK because It Aint so !!! While Hermione is not a purebred She is more like her father who is a Bloodhound than her mother who is a Golden Retriever. Very, very sweet personality but H-Y-P-E-R !!!!! I love her just the same.......xo

I hope everyone has an enjoyble remainder of Halloween evening and onward to Thanksgiving and Christmass !!!

And Dont Forget.......This guy might be watching !!! ((HUGS)) everyone xoxooxox

Glad to hear Hermione is doing better!!! <3

Happy November 1st everyone! Wow... Halloween was a blast! We had so many kids at the house, that we went thru 30 pounds of candy in 3 hours.

Because of Sandy, I had taken down all my Halloween decorations to keep them safe from the storm, so yesterday I left work early, drove home and spent 6 hours putting all the decorations back up again. A lot of work, but it was worth it for us just to see all the smiles, hear the laughter and see the excitement in the kids and the parents faces, it was wonderful...

Today is also my sons birthday, (he turns 20 today), I can't believe it, I still have a hard time thinking about and wondering where did all the years go??? This is my busy time of year with Halloween, and then my sons birthday, my daughters birthday and my birthday; all in November, then Thanksgiving and Christmas... Whew, by the time January rolls around, I'm ready to hibernate in front of the fireplace for the rest of the winter, lol...

We made it thru the storm ok with only losing power for about a day and a small leak at the rear of the house. Some of my neighbors weren't so lucky, they got hit pretty hard and sustained alot of water and wind damage to their homes. I hope everyone on the East Coast has made it thru the storm ok, and my prayers and thoughts are with everyone that had damage, lost power or even worse...

Happy Birthday to your son! I also think it's great that you put all the Halloween decorations back up! You are a trooper!!

I hate to say it but I really don't like Halloween. I am so glad it's over! I do not like taking the kids around in the cold and dark. We always leave a bowl out (we get no one on our street because there is one street in the neighborhood that shuts down and everyone congregates!) and some brat stole our bwol and everything. Rude! Never had an issue before! Oh well, at least it's over and we're in a fantastic month now!

I actually didn't like Halloween much until I got to college, haha! I mean, as a kid I loved trick-or-treating, but living in PA, it was always SO COLD and I would always be sick within a few days (I REALLY don't like the cold!). I can't believe someone stole your candy bowl! How horrible! Unfortunately that is one of the reasons that hubs doesn't want to put decorations out at our house for ANY holiday! Even though we live in a neighborhood with almost a zero crime rate (the worst thing that's happened since he moved in 5 years ago was the spray painting kids who tagged our house and some others, as well as sidewalks and stop signs last year), he refuses to put anything outside because someone might steal it. =( I'm sorry jude!!

Happy November 1st, everyone! I just have to tell you how much better I feel!!! Since the doctor told me to NOT WORK, I have rested and honestly feel like I have renewed energy. I cannot believe what a difference it has made. I even ate two slices of pizza when we went to Round Table last night. It was rainy, rainy, rainy yesterday and last night, so no trick-or-treaters for us. We didn't ge in until after 8 o'clock anyway. Take care and have a great rest-of-the-day. We are going to Sacramento for the weekend and join some (Elks) friends for dinner at Buca di Beppo. Check out their menu: http://www.bucadibeppo.com/menu/

SO GLAD you are feeling better!!! *hugs*

about to go to bed,i have been dozing off all day on this pain medication from my procedure....it's not a good thing but still it's kept me out of pain:) My heart is with all my friends here on the east coast ,pleasr stay safe and god bless!

Dawg, hoping I read you are on your way to full recovery. Hope & your family are all doing well now

Wow, lots of scary weather out there tonight! Haven't heard from my brother in Cape Cod since this morning. Hoping all are safe there! Keeping you all in my prayers!!! Stay safe everybody!!

Oh - that cute little kitten that showed up at our trailer at the lake - it was still there after work tonight. It is now in our garage (and it's getting some in house time too) - and I found a home for it. It is going to be a farm cat at our friends small farm. It will have food & shelter...and mice to chase! They named her "Miller"

Hope you are all having a good night, inspite of the storm!

Holiday, I am hoping all is well with your Brother and his family too. I was SO happy to read that the little baby has a home what a cute name Miller!!! Thx for keeping us posted

Just letting you know I made it home safely. We were the last plane to the city - then they cancelled all of the flights after ours. Thanks for your prayers. It is getting really bad here, schools are canceled already (not my college, of course) and the worst is coming overnight. Stay safe, everyone!

Glad to read you got home safe

New York MTA confirms water in subway tunnels. Not good. Hopefully the city is back up and running before Thanksgiving.

Jayish posted on facebook that he is sitting in the dark and listening to the siding blow off of his house. Not good.

Have you heard from him since? He lives in NJ right?

This picture brings me comfort ....I wanted to share with all of my Christmas family so that maybe those facing this storm may find comfort too.....xo

Jesus-calms-the-sea.jpg

Thank you very much CM3

3 feet of water on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Crazy.

Right each day as I go to work I "forgot" just how close we are on the water, well I forget no more I tell you!!!

Okay, well now they are saying that the NYSE didn't flood even though they said it was confirmed. So who knows.

Not sure if they all kept this updated, it was flooded but less then a foot, which really is a blessing. Where I am at 1 WTC when Gov Cuomo came and toured it was hectic but not sure if they printed news about the flooding there, we have our work cut out for us.

Why does Wayne keep laughing at me? I mean, isn't it normal to dance around the house while listening to Michael Buble sing Jingle Bells??? :yahoo:

The old and boring coffee mugs are stashed away and the Christmas mugs are out!

Yes, Jayish lives in NJ. RJD heard from him after the storm and they are okay.

I saw a couple of pictures from the WTC site of water pouring in but they never really said anything else about it.

Where you singing at the top of your lungs to? I was!!

I feel her pain. Ouch! I have been down with my back a few times. I hope she gets well soon!

I have had some back problems, too... Mainly from improper form while lifting, but I totally sympathize with her. Thanks, CAH! She appreciates the support!

Of course! Especially when the Puppini Sisters chime in with their part!

I sure do like his version of, "All I Want for Christmas is You" better than Mariah Carey's. Just my opinion! I know most like hers best and nothing wrong with that! :D

One of the worst times I ever pulled my back was (get this) from lifting an empty box!!!!!!!!!!! What? I couldn't believe it. It was just a wrong move is all but it's the fact it would make more sense if it was something heavy.

My doctor wrote a letter for me to be off work until school starts up after Christmas, January 7th. The exhaustion from radiation caught up with me. I had a hard time getting through today. In addition, I lost 10 pounds this week. I can afford to lose the weight, but just not that fast. Take care, everyone.

SW, I am glad you are going to take the rest, it is important to keep your strength up

Thank you, CM3. The odd thing is that Wilson is bigger than her jingle balls ~ there is no way she could have rolled it under the furniture and yet I cannot find it anywhere. :(

I know this may sound crazy but my one kittie Callie she likes to bury her toys, all over in the littler box a lot, my planters!!! Maybe she likes to bury too, and I noticed the more she likes a toy the higher the chances this will be buried!!!

Aw, thank you, CM3. I am so worried about the animals outside ~ my fur kids are in safe areas, but the deer and the other animals have to contend with falling branches and trees.

I did a little reserch as we have a few wild turkey and a large family of deer by me, it turns out they are very in-tune to the weather, deer tend to "burrow" in the dirt, they actually know to leave any water lying areas and the turkeys "burrow" in thickets of bushes, yes they still have danger but they seem to know how to protect themselves, which makes me feel better

Caninemom, I was telling you how that picture of the chihuahua you posted looks just like my little Meca. Well, I showed it to my granddaughter without saying anything, she laughed and said, "What is Meca doing"??? She thought it was her! =)

Well my niece's went to 3 house's before they came home. They were afraid that people would have dogs that would bite them. I don't know why they suddenly developed a fear of dogs but my sister needs to get them over it. I mean my BIL's mom has had a dog all of their lives so it's not like they haven't grew up around one.

Oh no! I hope than can get over that quickly! "Funny" how that happens sometimes. I wonder if something scared them & maybe they don't even remember what exactly it was.

I missed it

Me too!! : (

EEK! I better start behaving!!!!

Happy November Dear Christmas Family !!! Look who is waiting to visit !!!!!!!!!!!!!

BEAUTIFUL!!!! Love this scene!

I don't love halloween either! I use too when I was a kid, but now I mostly like it b/c that means Thanksgiving & Christmas are coming soon!!! "The Holidays!"

Happy November 1! What a dreary Beggars' Night in central Ohio. The kids only made it down one street before deciding they were too wet and cold. But tonight the first Christmas tree goes up at my parents' house. The kids are excited to help Grandma begin her 6 weeks of constant decorating.

YIPPEE!!! SO exciting!!!

I had the best time ever last night!!! I have been wanting to go Trick-or-Treating with my grandchildren for the last few years but something would come up and I ended up staying home to pass out candy, which is fine but I love Trick-or-Treating!

My daughter and son-in-law have been so busy working overtime and have some other obligations to take care of and were feeling bad that they might not be able to take the kids out for candy. It's not like they haven't done a lot already for Halloween (carnival, fair, Six Flags, etc.) but might miss out on Trick-or-Treating. I told them we (my mother and I) want to take them really bad! They just hate to ask me or expect me to do anything extra for the kids as far as watching them since I watch them full time while they work but I wanted to take them! My daughter and son-in-law were afraid I was doing too much??? This is fun!

We took them to a neighborhood that I use to take my kids to. Memories! They go all out in this neighborhood! I think I had just as much fun as they did. Then afterward we took them to dinner at El Chicos restaurant. All kids got to eat free for Halloween. 5 of us ate for only 15 bucks but we tipped well! It was a good dinner!

Glad you had such a great time! How fun!!!

Looks like Made is dancing! Everyone else join in!

Since Made is going to listen to some Michael Buble, I think I will put in my CD as well. Love his Christmas music!

Ah....if I had my cd here, (at work) I would join you in listening!!!

I have no idea why he would be laughing! LOL! My Christmas mugs stay out all year. They are my favs!!! ENJOY!!!!

XMAS - Happy birthday to your son!!!!

Happy Nov. 1st everyone!!! Can you believe it...it's NOVEMBER 1ST!? My sister has always said that it is "legal" to start listening to Christmas music on November 1st, so I just texted her & asked if it was "legal" - she replied with an "ABSOLUTELY"! She had just asked the girls in her beauty shop if they could change the music to Christmas!! Hee hee!! Bet they would get some strange looks from customers!! Ah well!

We finally have some sunshine in Ohio, but it's still chilly!!!

We only had 4 trick or treaters & they were our nieces/nephews. Our town trick or treat was Sunday afternoon & we weren't home.

Now I'm ready to move on to the next holiday. Down with the halloween decs, out with the Thanksgiving! I didn't get my Buckeye tree up in the basement last night. Maybe I'll try again tonight!

Hope you are all having a great day!!!

Tuesday hello ... :-) We've kinda been in crisis mode for a week and a half, what with FIL's funeral followed immediately by prepping for Superstorm Sandy and dealing with the anxiety of riding that out, and I can't get my brain organized and back onto everyday things ... just kind of muddled right now. Christmas is so close that I feel rushed and almost panicky ... that's not how I want to spend the season! I'll have to sit down with the lists this weekend, get my head clear, and show myself that there's enough time to prepare AND enjoy. Mr. has a big list of friends that he sends gifts to, so he was going through the gift boxes last night, earmarking gifts for various people and listening to Christmas music. I was upstairs crocheting and trying to settle down.

gotta run, work landed on my desk!

Thanks for passing that on to those of us not on Facebook---much appreciated!

MC, I think your plan to sit down and go over your lists this weekend is perfect, you all came thru such a hard time and then Sandy, let's just say one day at a time is saying it mildly... You are in my thoughts and prayers you & Mr.

OK, OK, I think I have stopped laughing, oh wait maybe not I needed that!!! LOL

All of my Halloween decor is down, still have up fall decor up for Thanksgiving which will be mixed in with my Christmas decor. My first Christmas decoration going up is my uncle's Christmas wreath in honor of him since he passed away in April. He always hung the wreath in his dining room so that's where I will put it in my house! The family gave me all his decorations. He sure is missed!

Thank you, that's so kind ... One thing that may help is coming tomorrow. Back in September I pre-ordered Tom Baker's unabridged audiobook of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." It wasn't supposed to arrive until November 15, but I got an email saying it will be delivered tomorrow, and I've really been looking forward to it. I've also found an unabridged reading by Dickens' great-great-grandson Gerald Dickens, but I already have THREE unabridged readings, counting Tom Baker's! The temptation to hear Dickens read by a Dickens descendant will probably win out in the end. cheesy

Dickens read by a Dickens descendant would be cool to hear ~ enjoy!

MC I must agree with Meceka that has to be an amazing experience.

LOL!!!! That was PERFECT Made!!!!

Is anyone else feeling extra giddy today??? It's that November 1st giddiness that I cannot shake and don't want to! If I don't get any of my Christmas decorations out today, I will at least put all my regular coffee mugs away and bring out the Christmas ones!!!

Time to do the happy dance!!! Please join me in dancing!!!

So! Halloween is over, and for my family that's the last milestone before Christmas. Because for our family, Thanksgiving is like the first day of Christmas; the moment we spot Santa in the Macy's parade, IT'S CHRISTMAS! We eat Thanksgiving dinner on Christmas plates, listen to Christmas music, and watch some version of "A Christmas Carol" after dinner. Instead of shopping on Black Friday, my husband and I head to Pennsylvania where we see Christmas Village, a Moravian Putz, the Christmas Museum, etc. etc. I'm so excited! I was pretty sick for a couple of months last spring, and we weren't sure I was going to be able to travel at all this year. But I'm doing a lot better these days, and I'm starting to look forward to our trip. Yay!

My best friend, cousin, and keyboard player, Ed, called last night to say that our band has a gig...! It's been almost a year since we've played anywhere. Everyone got so busy with real life, we didn't have time for the band. But after a year, we're all missing it. Heck, our lead guitar player lives in Birmingham and our bass player is moving to Atlanta, but they both want to play. I'm ready!

I hope everyone is faring well after the storm.

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

ROCK ON BRAD!!! ROCK ON my friend

. I am looking forward 3 days from now, Music Choice goes Christmas, I cannot wait!!!! My wife keeps saying it is to early, but I tell her its fair game because it is on a tv channel and I didn't put the music on myself. I am already thinking of staying up to watch the switch from Halloween music to Christmas music. (I think I need help)

Ohhhh I have a MARVELOUS idea (ps - I must tell you friends & fam both say there can be no good from LB's "MARVELOUS ideas but I beg to differ LOL) Maybe we should stay up together those who can I know I will be staying up to see it, one year maybe two or three years ago they switched but not the pictures they has Halloween pictures and Christmas music talk about FUNNY!!!! Can you picture it Hark The Herald Angels sing with pictures of werewolves and spooky sights it was funny

LOL!!! Me too then because I did it last year and will probably do it again this year.

See plans are already in motion!!! My MARVELOUS idea is coming together LOL

I talked to my aunt in Holidaysburg, PA and she said it's pretty nasty back that way. There's over 10,000 people in their county without power. So I'm guessing that Sugar probably doesn't have power since she isn't to far away from my aunt.

How did your Aunt make out all safe?

Sugar just posted on facebook that they are okay.

Thanks Made

Checking in! Yes, it did get very nasty back this way. As I had said last night, that house had fallen, then bricks were falling off of two buildings too in the city. The worst of it came on my way to work or around that time. There were trees down everywhere and I just had to drive around them. Just thankful I got to work safely.

No, we actually didn't lose power. A lot in Altoona did and parts of the section of Altoona that we live in lost power, but we luckily didn't! Praying for people who still don't have power and who were affected by the storm.

Glad to know you are all ok

Okay so we still need to hear from Lauriebear and Minta.

Did we hear from Minta?

Thursday hello ... :-) Work this week has been like a continuation of Sandy---impossibly busy and rushed. Unfortunately, this weekend is going to be pretty busy too, just when I really need a little time to back off and slow down a bit. I'm enjoying seeing you bubbling over with Christmas season spirit in your posts today!

MC, I think your plan to sit down and go over your lists this weekend is perfect, you all came thru such a hard time and then Sandy, let's just say one day at a time is saying it mildly... You are in my thoughts and prayers you & Mr.

Thanks for the kindness. Things are still hanging over me. I should be giddy and dancing today, but instead I feel vague and anxious. The Christmas "vault" of music, movies, books, and other goodies is open, but I just don't FEEL it yet. I hope the spirit will catch up with me soon.

gotta run ... more work on my desk

Yay!!!

Same exact feeling here! Santa shows up at the parade and I always jump up and down screaming, "Santas here"!!!!!! Then our Black Friday is not shopping but taking in all the Christmas festivities around town including the fun stuff at the mall. It sounds like your Black Friday is full of fun. Have a blast, I know we will!!! I am glad you are feeling better!
