I had to give in and put on a jacket. I think I hear the recliner calling my name, especially after I just took a pain pill. Did I tell y'all about my Dr. Sid Hammerback glasses--a red pair and a pink pair?

Please tell us more about your glasses !! xo

Oh what a bummer! I hate it when you start something & it's pretty, it's just not fun!! Bummer! You will have to keep me posted (and share some pictures) of what you decide to make. I have been seeing ads for the Christmas yarn so hopefully it will be in stores soon. I think our Ben Frankllin does have some out - all year round. I have never tried to make anything except scarves & afghans. How nice that you send hats to the homeless shelter. I always did scarves for special olympics, but they discontinued that program (the scarves) this year. :( I just started an afghan for my sil (My brother who passed away in March - his wife) using all their birthstone colors - August, September & their anniversary October. I added some red (love) for color. I hope it turn out!!!!! :)

Your afghan sounds so beautiful !!! xo

Thanks for sharing info about your projects! (Don't forget to share photos, too! cheesy) I enjoy hearing some crochet talk from other crocheters!

Back in the spring I went through all of Red Heart's free online patterns and saved a few dozen as PDFs. They have a couple of gorgeous Christmas afghan patterns that require embroidering cross stitches over a background of single crochet. I might have to try those, but I'm not sure whether I'd like an afghan with a "wrong side" that shows the underside of the embroidery. Well, I'll never know until I try it! I've read that you can line the "wrong side" with fabric, but that's out of my league---I'm no seamstress. Some of the easier afghans use granny squares in different patterns. I also have a pattern for a square that uses front-post trebles to create holly leaves in the corners---that would make a pretty afghan. I'm hoping to come up with something new I can auction for Santa's Sleigh.

You gals who make afghans are SO TALENTED !!!! I've tried in the past and failed ............

They actually had a psychologist on the news here tonight talking about how to deal with being stuck inside. He had some good ideas but he forgot to tell them to start planning for Christmas!!!

That's because non-Christmas folk are not in their right minds !!! And they are not in their right minds because they only think of Christmas at the "right time of the year" !!! :give:

I'm feeling so nostalgic tonight ... had to run out to the grocery store, and it's so warm even though it's dark ... it was just like it felt when I was little and was walking home from the carnival, hauling a plush animal or two that I'd won, and half an elephant ear for my mom ... if I'd seen fireflies winking in the distance tonight, a couple of tears would have fallen. Yes, it was hot today, but there's warm memories tonight.

((Merry)) ...though I hate this hot weather, I must admit it does bring back memories of when I was a kid on Summe vacation xo

Winding down for the evening, watching Batman Begins. Were hoping to catch "The Dark Knight Rises" this weekend, can't wait to see it. Hope you all have enjoyed HSN, I know I have.

Good night everyone!

You will have to let us know how it was !!!! Of course, I am not like a lot of the ladies.......my main "squeeze" in the movie is not Batman himself but Gary Oldman !!! xo I love him in almost every role I have seen him in. Of course my favorite was as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films xo

Don't give up on it ... there are LOADS of how-to videos on YouTube that demonstrate exactly how to make a starting chain and the basic stitches. After that, it's just doing it until it feels comfortable and you grow out of working too tight or too loose. The Snuggles Project accepts small crocheted blankets for shelter animals---they say on their website: "The Snuggles Project is a very good project for kids and people learning how to crochet, knit or quilt because the Snuggles don't have to be perfect. The animals love them any way they can get them. All that is required is that they be made with love." It's a great incentive to learn, a great way to practice, and at the same time keep some homeless animals snug and comfy.

Say ... if we ever have an MMC convention, I'll bring some yarn and a hook, and show you the basics!

I can honestly say that MerryCarey's work is wonderful. I have one of her afgans, and it is a masterpiece! My hats off to you!!!!
And a MMC convention, now that's an idea, it sure would be something to get us all together sometime in the future!

Good evening, Christmas family

Oy-Yah WHAT A DAY !!

First of all, My biggest mistake is I got up today...!!

I went to log on at noon to work and I don't know what happened but all of a sudden, no internet and my computer was flashing a weird message. Of course I started scrambling to try and figure out the problem. It had been fine but not when I got on to work.

The modem went down and that meant I had no phone. I went to get my cell and realized my minutes had expired so no cell phone either. Great. I got on my cell and it let me call my provider and purchase more minutes (how convenient I could still purchase from my cell provider but nothing else). After all that I called work to tell them.

The cable company said they would have to send someone out. Great. That could take all day. By this time I was ready explode. There was nothing I could do but wait. The cable guy came at around 2:30 - 3 and had to replace all the wires on the outside of the house - seems they had WATER in them !!! he said a squirrel probably chewed it and that is how the water got in.

After he fixed everything I tried my computer again - No go. Still the same message. Something about the system configuration being corrupt and inserting a startup CD to repair the problem. I never HAD a startup CD with Windows XP. I called a couple of computer guys and they both said it sounded like the hard drive bought it.

My only choice was to use my new laptop. I typed a couple reports and realized the F keys or function keys had different assignments than "normal" so I had to call HP direct. I got someone who was definitely not adept at English and explained the problem as best as I could and they explained to me as best as they could what to do. Amazingly, it worked. The function keys were then behaving as normal function keys should so I began to type. It was already 4:30 by then and I had missed four hours of work. I worked until 9:30 so I just have 3 hours to make up from today but Yee Gads am I tired from all the stress..........Don't know why my PC just HAD to die in the midst of all this...........And that was my day !!!

:-o:-o

I hope all are well and staying cool !! I did not watch any of HSN's Christmas in July but I am eagerly waiting for QVC's !!!

Big ((((HUGS)))) to everyone especially:
