it's been so long, but i have been sooooo busy. i swore 2012 would be the year that i got up and running and followed my dreams and it's all working out so far, thank god!

Great to hear from you! So glad everything has been working in your favor.

Good afternoon! I have had a great day! :)
Got up early this morning and went shopping with my mom and her friend. We got 2 Christmas oven mitts, 5 small bells that have a Christmasy picture and a year on them and a Christmas tin, like the ones that popcorn comes in. I was very happy!

I also got 8 Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks albums. I don't have a record player but I had been looking for them for a long time and so glad I finally found them, and for cheap too!

Hope you all are having a wonderful day too.

cheesy Miss Inconsistent here! I feel bad that I haven't been around in so long. Still...Christmas is ALWAYS in my heart! Thinking about all of you!

Good to hear from you, ChristmasHeart! Hope you're doing well!

Still have allergies but they will continue until my next Kenalog shot which is not until July. But no matter. As long as I can keep the symptoms at bay until then it will be okay.

I am going to bid you goodnight. Special (((HUGS))) to Ella, Harlowe, Snickers, Palmer, Mouse, Bo, Chico and all his siblings, Gomez and all his siblings, Snowball, Victor, Penny, Pocket, Scooby, Sasha, Baby Bear, and especially those furkids who are without homes or abused or both. My soul goes to them. I wish I could save them all xo

I almost forgot. A SPECIAL hug for ((((Christmasstar)))) just because xo

Hope once you get your shot, you will start to feel better! Hugs to you and all the furbabies!

Tomorrow is Nancy's birthday, so I'm going with them to Jacob's regularly scheduled guitar lesson this afternoon. While we're in Statesboro, Elizabeth and I will "sneak" away to get Nancy's present. Then we'll take her out to eat tomorrow night.

Happy Belated Birthday to Nancy!

I haven't seen him today - I'm sure he is up to something, though!
I found him! He is in disguise...

something about an Arabian blend of ice tea under development and not wanting Binger to know

Thanks. Mom is doing ok, just trying to deal with pain without staying "doped up" all the time. She has been taking care of my dad. He just got out of the hospital after a 3 day stay with pneumonia.

God Bless both of your parents. Hope your dad is starting to feel better. Praying for both of them and you still, as well!

WONDERFUL explanation!!! I totally love it! This sounds so exciting. I wish I could be there with you! Thanks for the info.

No problem...I attend Memorial Baptist Church

This is where you can find the curriculum we teach....they have different ones to choose from and give instructions on everything from decorations to snacks to costumes etc. We are doing "Babylon: Daniels courage in captivity this year.

We are blessed with a lot of volunteers that start with our jr youth and goes all the way up to seniors.
The weeks leading up to VBS are fun as we watch the entire church transform into what ever the theme is that year.

The leaders and helpers all meet in the gym for breakfast and instructions and prayer time before the kids arrive.

Our program runs only in the mornings and is very high energy. We start with open session and then break into small groups of 5 to 10 kids each and go to various stations.(crafts, games, story time, snack prep etc) Each station has a "teacher" and instructs kids and leaders on what to do at that station. Every 20 mins (I think it is that, could be 30min) they go to next station. All meet in gym for snacks then another station and then back to sanctuary for closing session. Each group of kids must stay with their leader and helper for the morning.

Then the leaders all collapse in the gym with a drink . We have our debriefing, talk about any problems, challenges, what would work better tomorrow. Clean up, organize our stuff for the next day. (each group has one of those reusable shopping bags to carry around all our stuff like attendance sheets, awards etc)

Hope this helps!

The idea of the meal is superb! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer.

I don't mind, either.

We attend Union United Methodist Church. It's a small country church a few miles outside town. I'm pretty sure the UMC doesn't tell us what curriculum to use, but I'm not the one who spearheads the operation. This year, the program is three evenings long, from 5:30PM to 8:00. We have the lesson, arts & crafts, music, outdoor games, and we have a meal each evening for the kids and staff (spaghetti tonight, I think). We do have a lot of adult participation. We have pix of our kids through the years at VBS.

Thanks for adding your information. Are you near Lake Junaluska? I forgot to ask about the number of kids who attend VBS. Christmasstar, Brad, Dawg, you and anyone else whose church has VBS, thanks for any and all info. I even think this is something I could adapt to my classroom this-coming school year. Of course, I can't use the religious curriculum, but the schedule and fast pace would really keep my kids on their toes.

You didn't ask me but I will answer anyway...

Our VBS starts tonight and runs for 3 days. Our church is 1st Baptist Robbinsville but we hold VBS at Whisper Mountain, a Christian youth retreat near us. Times will be from 6-9pm. We serve snacks and have lots of support from parents and other church members.

What a fabulous day, Caroline!! And great finds as well!!!

I am sure she is deliriously happy! But for the life of me, I cannot think what in the world you get to do! LOL!!!

Well my sister just got back from the foot doctor and it turns out she doesn't have a sprained ankle like her family doctor thought. It's actually a cyst on the ankle and she gets to have surgery to have it removed. I guess the surgery isn't to bad though and she can walk on it the same day. The bad part is they couldn't get her in until the 29th for surgery. So guess what I get to do for the next 18 days?

I always loved the arts and crafts, too. We always had a "class" that included painting different plaster of Paris Christmas pieces for a creche. We would exhibit these at the end of VBS celebration and save them to use at Christmas.

I miss lightning bugs!!!

you'll be in my thoughts all day tomorrow. you're in my prayers daily friend!!!

that's so nice of you to take care of things so bernie can go away. it is difficult to see your pastor leave after being such a major part of your life isn't it? i hope the transition to your new pastor is an easy one.

VBS is still as much a part of a southern summer as chasing fire flies ( or as we call them, lightning bugs).

this is how VBS is done here too, just like yours & brad's. wow i can remember going every year. my favorite part was crafts as a kid.

ok made, "she gets to have surgery"? i bet she'd rather not if she could help it. i can definitely see how you would get so frustrated though. like i always say......you are the BEST!!

hubby really wants to see this movie too. thanks for the 411 on it.

what type of business do you have meceka? i can tell how hard you work @ it.

This sounds so special. How did it turn out?

...

tomorrow is daughter's 16th b-day & i've ordered her a sweet 16 charm & necklace. it will be in tomorrow around 1pm. we are all going out to supper tomorrow night & then back here for cake & i think that's when we'll give it to her. hope she likes it. she & her friend are a bit bored tonight since we are not doing anything but, hate it for them, i need some down time some times. it's my vacation too.

cah, i hope your day was nice w/ your granddaughter!

y'all take care, love, hugs, & smiles to everyone!!

All of these funny graphics are really helping me. This round of chemo is BAD!!! I have some neuropathy in my fingers, and the pain from the Neulasta shot is not any fun whatsoever. BUT, it will get better! Only three more rounds of chemo to do, then surgery, then radiation!

Wonderful attitude. Last night, a friend said she could not understand how I have gotten through a lot of things in my life. I told her that, thank goodness, it didn't come all at once! Everyone does have to face challenges, and I think that I would not be able to handle a lot of things that other people go through.

This past Sunday our pastor did a sermon about Noah's Ark and the focus was on the rainbow. In other words no matter what happens in your life there is always the rainbow to show that life gets better.

I had told him after the sermon that is so true because someone had just said to me, "2012 has been a bad year for you"! My uncle passed away and Wayne got put in the hospital. I immediately said, "no, I will not adopt that attitude". It WILL be a good year and unfortunately things happen. Don't get me wrong, I am still immensely sad that my uncle is gone and I was worried sick about Wayne while he was in the hospital. Unfortunately, I cannot change the circumstances in my life and must move forward and make the best of it with the family around me. I also have the fondest memories at my uncle's house for Christmas but I love Christmas and so did he so I must look forward to the holiday season on his behalf and I will! Christmas has always been therapy for me during rough times and it has always worked. I am not sure it will work in all situations in my life but I can only hope! I see the rainbow!

Merry Christmas Cheer to all!!!! :???:
