my eldest informed me that I need an outing so she is going to take me somewhere, not saying where, just that I will love it and it will be sure to bring the spirit of Christmas back. So now she has me curious as to where we are going. We both have Saturday off so that is the day we are going...somewhere.

That is so great that she is doing that. Enjoy yourself, Star. You really deserve it.

I was in a lousy mood after work, so we went out for a burger … then went to the Building 19 before they go out of business (but nothing was left except junk). The Building 19 was so dismal that Mr. suggested going to the Christmas Tree Shop so we could get a cheerier bargain-shopping vibe. I got two Christmas mugs. (I've got about five or six now. If I had the space to display them, I'd start a collection.) Really enjoyed shopping there---Christmas stuff everywhere now, of course! It was a great pick-me-up.

I'm off from work tomorrow, but I have to get up early so be ready when the tree guys come to take down the tree that we found out is rotten inside. I've been anxious to get that taken care of before a winter storm causes it to fall on the house, cars, and/or neighbor's house. It'll be a long, noisy, expensive day, but it'll be worth it to get that load off my mind.

It took me quite a while to get through all the posts after work. Seeing all the Christmas camaraderie here does my soul good. I hope you folks know I love you all.

Enjoy your day off and I'm glad you'll be rid of the tree.

He is on a team, his first year. He is enjoying it so far.

So glad for him! I swam for our local YMCA, did it all year around; then did it for our high school team. I thought about doing it in college too, but just wanted to focus on my studies, knowing that nursing was a very hard degree. Hope he continues to love it!

please use your prayers for her to double the prayers for someone who needs it more. Not sure if I have expressed myself properly, it's just she always thinks of others and if she can share anything, even her health, for another, she will.

Happy Pines day everyone. Welcome to the "most wonderful time of the year". Temp was 16 when I left home this morning. It felt great. We had snow showers last night but no real accumulation.

Our family is meeting with Hospice today about placing mom in the hospice house. She doesn't want to go which makes it even more difficult. She is a fighter but doesn't have much time left.

We are struggling with knowing that mom's death is soon while the Christmas season is starting. We certainly know that, because of what Jesus did for us, mom is going to a far better place and the sorrow we have is for us, not her. Our family still intends to celebrate Christmas. How can we not celebrate what God did for us at Christmas? This Christmas season will be different but we will try to keep our focus on what Christmas is really about; "for unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord..."

Thanks for letting me vent and give myself a pep talk. Have a blessed day all.

well christmas is on hold right now..i lost my cousin last week he was only 41.. would of been 42 on christmas day..just can"t believe he is gone..:-(

I hope it all settles for your mum and your whole family. I will be making this decision soon too with a very independent and determined mother that has had a few falls and isn't steady on her feet anymore. She was so active all her life and is so frustrated that her body is failing her that she tries harder and harder and doing more damage. My heart bleeds for you all. keep us posted on your progress, your insights can help us.

Your mom is in my prayers, Virginia, as are you and your family.

Hey how is everyone doing?

Kandice is caughing now additionaly to her sneezing....still it seems harmless. She will stay home for the week and recover and she will be back as new by Monday.

The house is decorated now. Stripey is fed....now I have do clean up the place and we are ready to go to the grocery store.

Happy is having tummy issues and has no energy. Poor guys.

They're now taking down the half-dead tree … it'll be a relief to get it away from the house. The noise isn't so bad.

Turns out the tree service doing the work was featured in a National Geographic Channel reality show about their tree removal work. There's no camera crew out there today, though!

I also keep a ice scraper in my car, but if you don't have this, you need to pick it up. It's amazing!!! I see different prices for it. I still have my can from last year. My mom actually got it for me for Christmas and I think paid roughly $4-5, but I've seen $5-8, plus they have different oz, but it will last you throughout the winter. You don't have to spray that much. I love it!

I think you answered the question of what to get the people on my Christmas list who have everything question, Sugar. I hear a lot of complaints from them about having to scrape their windows after work or before taking their kids to school. Thank you so much for the idea!!!

Good afternoon, MMC!

I am waiting on word as to how my new nephew is doing - he is having open heart surgery today. The last update I had, he was doing good. Prayers for him would be appreciated!

Yesterday I ended up getting a migraine so today I am not very energetic. It is very windy and cold out, too, so it is a good day to stay in and work on projects.
