Christmas Countdown - 2016

Good Tuesday morning everyone. My son is sick today, so another day home taking care of him. I've missed a lot of work recently with all the sickness, but thankfully they're understanding. Still, I'm ready for things to be back to normal. I hate it for him, too. But it will pass quickly. Have a great day!

I'm taking a quick break from catching up on posts to jump in & say Good Morning!!! Happy Tuesday!! Not much going on here today. It's super windy & dreary. Local radio station says we have a chance of some flurries today. Originally our forecast said SNOW today but they took it out - so I think they do owe us at least a few flurries!!

We are planning a birthday brunch for my Mom on Sunday morning. Her birthday brunch is always one of my favorite meals of the whole year. YUM! Texts are flying in this morning from my nieces/nephews as to who will & won't be there. 2 of my sisters are leaving for Florida on Saturday, so they can't make it. But just our immediate family will take mom out to eat Friday night, so they can join in on the celebration too. Oh darn - 2 meals out!

My SIL had her apt with her oncologist yesterday & she is in trouble. Her cancer is back & they do believe it is in her lymph nodes. It is not a curable cancer, but it can be put into remission. Surprisingly she has agreed to chemo & strong combination of methotrexate & other meds I can't remember the name of. Just hoping & praying for a positive outcome for her.

I have pushed as far as I can go tonight, it was a rough day. Inventory was the easy part, but every one of my freezers went down today for a few hours. Trying to cover them and seal them off to preserve the cold air and watching the temps gets so stressful the longer it goes. We didn't lose anything, but that makes for a bad day. A well earned day off tomorrow, with a fun trip to the dentist in the morning.

Ha! You never struck me as a Rob Zombie fan! Rock on!

Literally an acquired taste, but one I don't listen to very much any more. There is something about the music that makes me want to move so it is good for working out ~ I did 10,000 steps in one hour once! Plus, the lyrics are sprinkled with pop references from horror movies/shows and as I try to decipher said lyrics (quite unintelligible at times!!) the time goes by much faster!!!
Much prefer classic rock, jazz and rockabilly. And of course, Christmas!!!

Well, the temps did indeed get warmer yesterday and significant inroads were made toward eliminating the accumulated ice from our recent winter weather event. Hopefully, today will take care of most of the rest of the job.
We have started off sunny at 41 degrees here in the center of North Carolina.

Happy Tuesday to all!

Dental checkup and cleaning today, plus I have to discuss our new insurance with them and see how much of our pending major dental work may be covered ... ugh. And my head is so fuzzy from a constant dry-but-stuffy nose that I just can't get much relief from. But these cold days, it feels so good to get home in the evening after work---I'm looking forward to that.

Saline spray, used three times a day, was prescribed for my cousin by her doctor-in-law. She told me about it when I was having the same issues you are having and it worked great, but took a few days.

4 pages by 9:30. You guys sure are chatty today. Lol!!!

It's going to be a windy day here with snow showers off and on. There shouldn't be much acculmation though. I don't have much planned. Just some cleaning and hopefully some work on the computer. Thoughts and prayers for you all. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!

I'm with you. Disappointed in the weather this winter so far & I really don't want a hot & muggy summer. I like toasty weather for boating but we don't need super hot & humid temps! I also don't want cold/snow in March & April. I want it to be cold & snowy when it's supposed to be as well as nice & warm when it's supposed to be. I don't think I'm asking too much!

I don't think I ever responded to Meceka's ? about beef bacon. I was having a hard time getting caught up. I don't think I have ever had it, so I can't answer the question. I would say give it a try. You would still get the flavor.

I will have to ask my BIL if they have beef bacon. I have never seen it there, so I doubt it, but it's worth asking.
I don't like brown grass either....but it's just odd to have semi-green grass in January. So not normal!

Semi-green grass is definitely not normal. The norm here is brown grass in November ~ one of the reasons why it is so bleak in the winter. I love seeing the tufts of green grass sticking up through the snow, but it makes it seem like it should be March already. Very disorienting!

Was awake by 1 again, but that was because I had a slasher dream and I could not get back to sleep. Ugh! I hate when that happens. It wasn't a gory dream, but being chased through my old high school by not one, but two knife wielding maniacs was disturbing to say the least. Any how, Palmer was happy I was awake ~ she wanted her vitamins and to spend some quality time together by playing chase and untying my shoelaces. The little stinker!

Btw. Garden Ridge/ At Home. Has its Christmas at 75% off - huge inventory here. Was there and saw plenty of people looking and buying. Their inventory shifts to Spring/Summer but in June they begin restocking for Christmas.
