Good Wednesday morning, Christmas friends!

We had low country boil again at Nancy's parents' house. For those who don't live in the low country, that's shrimp, crab legs, small red potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, and sausage (ingredients vary) boiled together in a large pot with lots of Cajun spices. It's soooo good!

Nancy is vegging out in front of the new TV. When I got home for lunch yesterday, I asked her what we were having. From the couch, she said, "your lunch is on the counter." There were two slices of cold pizza. She seems very content with the TV. LOL

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I'm thinking we need monthly movie nights at Bradmac's!!

Okay, serious question: Can eggnog be frozen and still return to its original enjoyable state?

When I got off work today I literally drove around to Ralphs, Vons, Smart and Final, CVS, Target, and then back to Ralphs to pick up the Vanilla Eggnog they still had in stock. Everywhere else was either sold out or only had fat free (who wants that?).

Anyways, I'm only asking here cuz it's probably more visible than anywhere else on the forum, and I need this question answered. A part of me thinks it will be totally okay to freeze it, but then a part of me thinks there's just no way a liquid as thick as eggnog can return to its original state after being frozen. I froze sour cream not too long ago and while it tasted the same and had the same impact after being thawed out it was still chunky and looked more like cottage cheese before using it. I can't imagine drinking chunky eggnog even if it tastes the same.

Has anyone done it before?

If nothing else I ask for future reference. I was hesitant to stock up earlier in December, going with the assumption that it's not a good idea to freeze it, and thinking that stores will probably keep supplying it until at least New Years. But I was wrong. So if I can't find it, at least I'll know in years to come.

BTW, this vanilla eggnog ain't so bad, its kind of like a vanilla milkshake without the frozen-ness.
Generally speaking, "eggy" things don't freeze well at home. So I don't think you'd get good results. But I have a suggestion: Vanilla eggnog is simply made at home, especially if you have a blender or an immersion (stick) blender. For one serving, blend together 8 oz. of milk, one egg, 2 Tbsp sugar (or sugar to taste), and a splash of vanilla extract. Voila! If you can get your hands on Torani vanilla syrup, you can use that in place of sugar and vanilla extract. I learned to make it when Hood discontinued its Vanilla Eggnog one year. The eggnog recipe was in an old cookbook of my mom's, with several variations.

Good morning all!

Slept in this morning, which is not something I do often. We do not have too much on the agenda for the day. My wife's parents are visiting today for dinner so I guess we should pick up the living room a bit.:p
Take your time---they're not coming until dinnertime!

I'm not anywhere near ready to take down my Christmas decorations but I do love my snowman decorations too!

I also love my Christmas decorations but i like to start the New Years with a clean house and fresh year for the holidays LOL .. One of my New Year Resolutions is to declutter more (mail, reading material, school papers, etc) I get frazzled when the house is cluttered.

Morning ... Getting ready to take the kids to their orthodontist appointments and then pick up our puppy girl from the vet. Goal this afternoon is to declutter the kitchen and reorganize some cabinets to make room for my new kitchen goodies that I got for Christmas.

Have a great day!

Good evening,

I have been sick since Christmas Eve, and the Nyquil is taking hold. I hope to get caught up tomorrow.

I hope you all are enjoying this most wonderful Christmas season.

Goodnight, everyone
Feel better xmas!

I'm sure Mike's parents are great people but it sounds like they are acting very childish and impolite! That's a great gift! I'm sure the others will appreciate the it!!
Prayers for your grandma!
Thank you holiday! Yes they usually are great, but practically worship the ground his sister walks on, so since all her pictures are on fridge (she's 20) Carolina's doesn't get any space.
Thank you! Her surgery is Friday with an overnight stay into saturday

Hello christmas friends...Feeling the christmas blues here....I just wish we where just starting the festive season :(...Not looking forward to January:eek:
Same here Prancer!

Our weather has been CRAZY too. Christmas day it was in the 30s, yesterday it was 65, and today back in the 30s. I want actual winter weather. Under 32 and snow!:bundleup
I told two of my neighbors yesterday they should be shoveling snow, not raking leaves!

I really want winter weather! I want cold, snowy days. They are saying we could get some flurries Thursday night, but that is not enough, especially when this weekend is suppose to be warm again!

I really need to move up north!!! Do you think Santa needs another hand at the North Pole?!:jump
